Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 52 Invisible Bodyguards_1
Chapter 52: Chapter 52 Invisible Bodyguards_1
Hansen Ruiz sat beside Glades Horne, while the four men took their seats on the long sofa.
However, when they saw a large bag of snacks on the coffee table, a look of surprise flashed in their eyes. They had met many company CEOs before. Still, this was the first time they had seen an office stocked with so many snacks favored by women and children. What made it more surprising was that this office belonged to a leading figure in the business world—the young master of the prominent Horne Family in T City.
"Could you show me your credentials, please?" Glades Horne said in a deep voice after the four men had sat down.
The four immediately took out their credentials and laid them out on the coffee table one by one.
These documents had been carefully reviewed by Hansen Ruiz when he selected them; only those who passed his scrutiny were brought here.
Glades Horne picked up each man’s documents and examined them closely, comparing them against their bearers. After ensuring the documents matched the individuals, he placed them back on the coffee table, lightly pushed them towards the four, and nodded.
The four men tucked their credentials back into their clothes.
"I’m hiring bodyguards this time solely to protect my wife. Since she doesn’t like being followed, you will need to stay hidden, essentially acting as invisible bodyguards. The four of you, working in two teams of two, will provide round-the-clock protection in rotating shifts. I know the working hours are long, but I will pay overtime. Whenever my wife leaves the house, no matter where she goes, you must follow her. If she encounters any trouble or wants to help someone, you must assist her. However, she must not find out that you are following her..."
Glades Horne explained the main duties of the job.
"CEO Horne, do we need to report Mrs. Horne’s whereabouts every day?" one of the men asked after listening to Glades Horne. fɾēewebnσveℓ.com
Bodyguards, euphemistically, are for protection, but bluntly speaking, their role also involves surveillance.
With so many detailed requests from Glades Horne, it was clearly surveillance.
"No need!" Glades Horne answered without a second thought. He only wanted to protect Julia Bluen, not to control her movements. He did not want to again witness her desperately chasing a thief on her bike through the streets, looking as ferocious as a criminal police officer.
Even if she appeared as brave as a criminal police officer.
The four men exchanged glances, not expecting such a response from Glades Horne.
"You all understand the importance of secrecy. If you’re willing to cooperate, the moment you step out of Valence Group, you must keep silent about your work and never let anyone know your identities," Glades Horne continued. Hiring these four was to protect Julia Bluen, so he had to be very careful and only decided upon them after thorough scrutiny. "Your accommodation will be arranged near my home to facilitate your work."
The four nodded their heads.
The hard lines on Glades Horne’s face softened a fraction as he posed several more questions, all of which the four answered.
"Regarding compensation, my Assistant has already discussed it with you, correct?" The last question was about finalizing the employment.
In fact, anyone appearing here had already passed the scrutiny of Hansen Ruiz’s discerning eyes—known for their meticulousness—and was certainly willing to cooperate.
All four nodded in agreement.
"If you have no objections, you may follow my Assistant out. If you have any further requests, you can bring them up to my Assistant," Glades Horne said, casting a glance at Hansen Ruiz beside him and giving him a look of trust as if to say, "I’ll leave it to you."
Hansen Ruiz reciprocated with a reassuring look that conveyed, "Don’t worry, I’ve got this!"
The four exchanged another look, then stood up, ready to follow Hansen Ruiz out.
"I’ll be leaving then," Hansen Ruiz also stood up.
"Over there." Glades Horne had no objection to Hansen leaving, but he didn’t forget to point at the large bag of snacks on the coffee table, signaling for Hansen to deal with it.
The four bodyguards couldn’t help but turn their eyes to Hansen Ruiz, their expressions somewhat peculiar.
Instantly, Hansen’s hackles rose. His fair face, not strikingly handsome but certainly pleasant to look at, flushed a bit as he cried out, "They’re not for me to eat, so why is everyone looking at me? I’m just handling this for him. That’s what an Assistant does—deal with things he doesn’t want to handle."
It sounded as if he were a foodie.
The four bodyguards couldn’t suppress their smiles, their eyes crinkling with amusement.
"If anyone calls me a foodie, it’ll definitely be your fault," Hansen grumbled as he picked up the large bag of snacks. With the four black-clad bodyguards in tow, he left Glades Horne’s office.
Once outside the office, Secretary Yang saw him with the large bag of snacks and gave him the same look the four bodyguards had earlier, mistaking him for a glutton. She probably assumed that all the snacks in the cabinet recently installed on the wall were meant for him.
"Secretary Yang, Secretary Yang!" Upon seeing Secretary Yang, Hansen rushed forward as if he’d found his savior. He placed the large bag of snacks on her desk and said with a cheerful grin, "The CEO said you’re hardworking and sincere, so he specifically sent this bag of snacks for you to take home to your son."
Secretary Yang was skeptical, pondering what to say, but Hansen had already darted into the elevator. He didn’t even wait for the four bodyguards to enter before pressing the ’close door’ button. The bodyguards were left standing at the elevator entrance, waiting for it to return.
When the four bodyguards reached the ground floor, Hansen’s car was nowhere to be seen.
The bodyguards had no choice but to walk briskly toward their designated car. Before they could get in, the bodyguard acting as the driver received a call. It was Hansen Ruiz, instructing them to go to a specified location to finalize their employment contracts.
Finally, Hansen added, "I’m not a foodie. Don’t treat me like one."
The bodyguard chuckled again, thinking Hansen was easy to get along with.
「Majestic Garden, Bluen Family Villa.」
Alone in the spacious living room, Scarlett Taylor sat on the sofa, holding several photos, all of Ruby Bluen. She gazed deeply at them, her fingers tenderly tracing Ruby’s image, her eyes filling with unbidden tears.
Ever since Ruby Bluen had fled the marriage, not a day had passed when Scarlett wasn’t worried. Initially, she worried that if Glades Horne found Ruby, he might harm her. Later, after Glades Horne married Julia Bluen, Scarlett began to worry if Ruby was safe and sound wherever she was.
