Chapter 675: Chapter 675: Noah Reyes Takes Action (4)_1

A silver-gray luxury sedan appeared at the entrance of Hua Yi Company. When the car came to a halt in front of the office, the owner opened the door, grabbed a bouquet of fresh flowers, and stepped out. From afar, he spotted Adele Horne standing at the entrance and waved at her with a beaming smile.

Adele Horne blinked. That man looked familiar, but the distance was too great for her to recognize him immediately. Still, he continued waving at her.

After a moment’s thought, Adele walked down the steps and headed towards the company’s entrance.

The closer she got, the more puzzled she became. That man looked so familiar.

"You sly girl, don’t tell me you don’t recognize me?"

Sly girl? she thought. There seemed to be someone in her memory who always called her that.

"You used to love bullying me, and now you’ve forgotten?"

As Adele emerged, the man’s smile grew wider. He approached her with the bouquet in his hand, deliberately leaning his not-so-ugly face close to hers. Gazing at her playfully, he said, "Here’s my face right in front of you. Dare you to hit it!"

Adele raised an eyebrow. Then, with a flash of realization, she burst out laughing, "Gio!"

"Finally, you remember me! It seems like you only recall who I am if you get to hit me, which is really heartbreaking. After all, you’ve hit me several times," Gio Coleman said in a mock-sad tone, though his face was full of smiles. He handed her the bouquet and, still smiling, said, "I didn’t know what to give you as a reunion gift. You lack for nothing, so when I passed by a Flower Shop on the street, I just grabbed a bunch of flowers."

Adele chuckled and took the bouquet from him, then asked Gio with a smile, "Didn’t you go abroad? When did you get back? Are you going abroad again? And how did you know I was here?"

Gio glanced at the Hua Yi Office Building behind Adele and then back at her. After looking her up and down, he said teasingly, "It’s been nearly ten years since we graduated from high school. Are you really going to make me stand here to catch up? Shouldn’t you at least invite me for a meal?"

"A meal?" Adele hesitated for a moment. Today, there had been an issue at the company, and she had notified everyone to come back after lunch to help deal with the batch of products rejected by customs. She still didn’t know how many of the products were substandard. Regardless of the number, all six containers had to be reopened and inspected one by one, which would take a lot of time. She wasn’t the boss, and she felt uncomfortable about not being present while everyone else was busy.

It had to be said that the current Adele had completely changed. She now considered many things carefully, no longer acting on her whims as she had in the past.

"Is it inconvenient?" Gio noticed her momentary hesitation and immediately said considerately, "If it’s inconvenient, then some other time. But you could at least let me in for a glass of water, right? Oh, no, you haven’t had lunch yet, have you? Just wait here for me; I’ll be right back." Gio rattled off a string of words, then turned around, got back into his luxury sedan, and drove away quickly.

Adele stood slightly stunned. Before she could react, Gio was gone.

She guessed Gio had run off to get her some takeout.

This old classmate is still as considerate as I remember him to be, Adele thought.

Gio Coleman and Adele Horne were high school classmates. Gio was the class president, while Adele’s academic achievements were mediocre. She wasn’t interested in studying at all; she only cared about having fun. She was arrogant and unreasonable. Aside from Orlando Evans, who followed her, the other classmates disdained associating with her. Since they attended a Noble School, all their classmates came from well-to-do families. None of them flattered Adele because of her connection to the Horne Family—except for Orlando, of course.

Adele and Gio had sat with one in front of the other. Adele liked to bully Gio. He was not only the class president but also good-looking and from a well-off family. Polite and considerate, many girls in the class had a crush on him. Seeing Adele bully Gio only made their classmates dislike her more.

For the three years they were in the same class, Gio was bullied by her. Even when their seats were far apart later on, she often targeted him. However, Gio was no pushover. Sometimes, when they encountered each other, sparks would fly. Gio’s favorite retort was to lean close to Adele’s face and say coldly, "Here’s my face, right in front of you. If you have the guts, hit it!"

At school, hitting a classmate would result in disciplinary action and a meeting with the parents.

Sometimes, Adele was so angry she actually hit him. Gio was slapped by her a few times, which was like stirring up a hornet’s nest. The other students who saw it immediately reported the incident. Gio was a top student and a favorite among the teachers; they couldn’t ignore him being hit. Thus, complaints were made about Adele, and her parents were called in. Adele, proud and fearless, even talked back to the teachers and was nearly expelled. If Glades Horne hadn’t donated millions to the school to build a Laboratory, fully equipped with all necessary apparatus, Adele wouldn’t have finished those three years of high school.

After graduating from college, Gio went abroad.

The two never met again after graduating from high school, as if they were enemies. Adele certainly didn’t dwell on thoughts of Gio.

Almost a decade later, Gio had unexpectedly sought her out. She was so surprised that she hadn’t recognized him at first.

Life is unpredictable indeed, she mused, standing at the company entrance holding the flowers Gio had given her. Having faced life’s setbacks, she couldn’t help but feel a rush of emotions as she thought of the past. Orlando Evans, whom I once thought was my best classmate and friend, ended up being the one who harmed me. And the person who was once my nemesis is actually the first to visit me.

Gio returned quite soon.

Adele had already asked the security guard to open the company gates, allowing Gio to drive his car into the parking area on the company premises.

Gio had run to a nearby high-quality restaurant and bought takeout meals for them both. He returned with a large bag filled to the brim with several food containers.

He got out of the car carrying the bag, and Adele laughed. "After so many years, the class president is still as considerate as ever."

The two walked into the Office Building and went up the stairs, entering Adele’s Assistant’s Office.

Before she gave birth to Jimmy Horne, she and Julia had shared an office.

After returning to work post-birth, Julia had cleared out a room next to her own General Manager’s Office for Adele, which became Adele’s Assistant’s Office.

"I really didn’t expect you to be working," Gio said casually as he sat down on the wooden sofa. He placed the takeout on the coffee table, then set out a few containers in front of Adele, keeping a few for himself. "After I came back, I heard some things about you and was quite surprised, so I decided to come and see. After all these years, you’ve matured a lot and become even more beautiful. You seem like a different person, though; that annoying arrogance and unreasonable behavior are gone."

While Gio spoke, he smiled and watched Adele.
