In dreams, he had dreamt of her countless times. He dreamt of her crying, of her laughing, and even of her being in danger. Whatever the dream was, she was in his heart! Long ago, he had developed an affection for her, and years of longing had turned that affection into deep, unyielding love. With his status, with his looks, what kind of woman could he not have? But he had always deferred, simply wanting to find her.

He believed any man, after searching for a woman for so long and yearning for so many years, would be as thrilled and as terrified of her disappearing as he was the moment he saw her again.

"Jimmy, listen to your uncle's advice and go home with your aunt," James Horne winked at his little nephew. Jimmy blinked back, understanding the silent message in James's eyes, and obediently agreed to go back with Rebecca Hughes.

Noah Reyes's men tried to stop them.

"Mr. Reyes, Jimmy has school tomorrow, and it's already past nine o'clock at night. He's still young, and lack of sleep will affect his classes the next day," James Horne said coldly.

Noah Reyes looked deeply at his son, then gestured with his eyes for his men to let Rebecca Hughes and his son leave.

Right now, what he wanted most was to spend some quality time with Adele Horne and explain what had happened all those years ago.

"Mr. Reyes, you heard what Adele said. I believe your Syrena Language is excellent, so you don't need me to explain, do you? That incident back then was an accident—do you understand? An accident. Adele is living a good, peaceful life now," James said, guarding Adele behind him and speaking coldly. "I hope you will disappear and stop disturbing her life."

"Young Master Horne, I think I've made myself very clear as well. This is a matter between Adele and me, and I ask that you not meddle. I can assure the Horne Family that I am not here to take Jimmy, nor will I harm Adele. However, I hope you can all give Adele and me some time together to clear up what happened in the past," Noah Reyes's voice was equally heavy and cold.

"I don't want to talk about the past anymore!" Adele said lowly, her voice laced with pain.

She thought back to when she had awakened and opened her eyes to find she had lost her virginity—and to a complete stranger at that. She didn't even know his name or what he looked like. She felt as if her world had crumbled. That was the most painful memory of her life.

She tried so hard to forget that incident. She did not want to remember it.

Her eyes involuntarily reddened and filled with tears.

Adele Horne turned away coldly, saying in a detached voice, "Mr. Reyes, my brother is right—it was just an accident. I have nothing to discuss with you. I beg you, please grant me this, and do not come to see Jimmy again."

After speaking, Adele turned to leave. As she did, the tears she had been holding back began to fall.

"Adele!" This time, Noah Reyes himself stepped in front of her. When he saw her tears, he froze as if struck by lightning, his heart aching as he looked at her.

She was crying!

She was in pain!

That one night of passion had brought him joy and hope, but for her, it had brought only pain and despair.

He realized that while he had thought he might have a child, she had thought her world was destroyed.

He had never once considered it from her perspective.

Not to mention all the gossip and slander she had endured, being a single mother for four years.

She had every right not to want to see him!

She had every reason to resent him!

"Mr. Reyes, please don't make me resent you even more! I'm begging you!" Adele turned her face away, but tears streamed down like rain, unstoppable.

"Adele…" Noah Reyes desperately wanted to say that he had come to find her now to make amends, for both her and Jimmy. But at that moment, he found he couldn't utter a single word.

Seeing her tears fall like rain was like a knife to his heart. The power of a woman's tears was so immense; it felt as though his heart was being torn apart, a pain so intense and real that he thought it might actually break.

He stretched out a large hand, pulling Adele into his embrace—forcefully, yet tenderly and lovingly. He held her tight, no matter how much she struggled, and would not let go. Because he was determined to give her a truly stable life, to be the support she could lean on for a lifetime.

Yes, their encounter had been an accident, but an accident could also be fate. From the moment he took off his necklace and placed it around her neck, their destinies had intertwined. She had bravely brought their son into the world amid a storm of gossip, and that meant the accident could never truly be just an accident. They could never treat each other like complete strangers, because they shared a son!

After hugging her fiercely for a moment, he loosened his hold. With gestures more tender than any he had used in his entire life, Noah Reyes wiped the tears from Adele's face. Then, he looked deeply into her eyes and said hoarsely, "I won't give up." After speaking, he turned away, full of sorrow and finding it immensely difficult. With a pained wave of his hand, he signaled his men to let James take Adele away.

The men in black stepped aside silently. They watched as the woman their boss had obsessively driven them to find—the Boss's wife—was protected by her brother and slowly disappeared from their sight.

Their boss's grief-stricken actions, his agonizing decision, and his painful letting go—all of it made their hearts ache for him.

In their world, the Boss was their very soul; seeing their soul in such agony, they felt his pain as if it were their own.

Only after James had taken Adele away did Noah Reyes turn back. His dark eyes were deeply somber as he stared at the entrance of the street. He silently swore to himself that he would make Adele accept him, even if it meant plucking the moon from the sky or catching turtles from the deepest sea!

Because she was the wife he had chosen!

Unless he died, he would never, ever give up!
