Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 743 - 742: If You Dare, Say it Again (1)_1
Billy’s biological father had already been found. No matter how much they tried to conceal it, could it truly be hidden?
It was a fact.
Glades had said that Noah Reyes had already done a DNA test, and Billy was indeed Noah Reyes’s own flesh and blood.
"Grandma, please tell me, is that uncle really my daddy?" Jimmy Horne, held in Mila Anderson’s arms, kept asking.
The adults’ reactions told him that the uncle was very likely his daddy.
Ever since he could remember, no one had ever appeared before him claiming to be his daddy. Now that someone had, Mommy said it wasn’t Daddy.
He suspected Mommy was lying to him.
But the uncle had also said things that made him unable to doubt Mommy’s character, saying Mommy had her predicaments.
What were predicaments?
He didn’t want to understand; he just wanted to know one thing: was the uncle really his daddy?
"Billy, don’t ask anymore, okay? If Mommy hears, she’ll be very heartbroken, very upset," Mila Anderson said, her heart aching for him.
Still in her arms, Jimmy raised his little face again. "Billy is also very heartbroken and very upset. If the uncle really is my daddy, why would Mommy lie to me?"
"Billy," Mila Anderson quickly cupped his small face, speaking seriously. "You can’t question your Mommy. You’re just a child; you don’t understand adult matters. Your mommy... she’s suffering too. She has her unavoidable predicaments and things she’s afraid of."
"The uncle is my daddy, right?"
From his grandma’s reaction, Jimmy Horne was completely sure.
The man he’d liked from the moment he met him—even though he’d later seen him taking advantage of Mommy—was really his daddy.
A father, no matter how naughty and mischievous his son is, will always be tolerant.
Noah Reyes’s words echoed in Billy’s ears: "Because I am your daddy, we look very much alike."
"Billy..." Mila Anderson hesitated, unsure whether to reveal the truth and tell her grandson the facts.
Pressing Billy’s small face into her embrace once more, Mila Anderson fell into deep thought.
After a long time, she finally answered softly, word by word, "Billy, the uncle you speak of... he’s actually your daddy. His name is Noah Reyes."
The truth that couldn’t be concealed would eventually be revealed.
Blood is thicker than water, and the bond between father and son is a natural instinct. Billy’s acceptance of Noah Reyes was so strong that their attempts to keep hiding the truth were futile.
Billy stiffened. That uncle really was his daddy!
He really had a daddy!
His daddy had found him!
Because he really was his daddy, the uncle had treated him so well and had been tolerant of his mischief. And because he really was his daddy, even though he’d been angry at the uncle for taking advantage of Mommy, he still couldn’t truly dislike him.
His daddy’s name was Noah Reyes!
Noah Reyes was his daddy!
He finally had a daddy!
"Billy, your mommy... don’t blame her." Mila Anderson’s biggest worry was that revealing the truth would make Billy blame Adele.
Billy stepped out of Mila Anderson’s embrace, his expression more solemn than she had ever seen. Honestly, for a child his age to show such a somber face made Mila Anderson wonder if she was seeing things.
"Grandma, Mommy didn’t want to tell me that Daddy is that uncle. It must be because Daddy made Mommy angry. Grandma, I’ll grow up soon. I’ll definitely find out why Mommy didn’t tell me that the uncle is my daddy."
Upon hearing this, Mila Anderson could no longer hold back her tears. She pulled Billy into her arms and cried.
Her sensible little grandson was both heartbreaking and endearing.
Julia stood up. Glades immediately wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. "Where are you going?"
Julia lowered her head to gently pry his large hand away. "Jimmy just came knocking on our door; I want to go check on him." Jimmy had never come knocking on their door before.
It was so late; for the little guy to be knocking on their door, something must be up.
Adele hadn’t returned yet. The little guy must be worried, right?
Glades Horne released his hands and let her get out of bed.
Julia spoke softly, "Glades, you go to sleep first."
Glades gazed at her intently without speaking, but his eyes told her he would wait for her.
Julia smiled and said nothing more. She walked out of the inner room and headed outside. She first went to Jimmy’s small room, next to Adele’s, to look for him. The light was on, but Jimmy was nowhere to be seen. She called for the nanny.
Only then did the nanny realize Jimmy wasn’t in his room. Her face turned a shade paler as she hurriedly explained, "Madam, I attended to Young Master Jimmy at bedtime. I personally saw him close his eyes before I quietly left. I... How could Young Master Jimmy not be in his room?"
"He came looking for me just now," Julia said calmly, her eyes free of blame, which allowed the nanny to relax a bit. Although Julia also possessed authority, it wasn’t as imposing as Glades’s, and she was typically gentle with the servants.
"You go rest. I’ll find him myself." After speaking, Julia turned and went downstairs.
The nanny followed her downstairs to look for Jimmy.
The little master under her care was missing; how could she dare to rest? She had been serving Young Master Jimmy for many years and had grown fond of him, not to mention the high salary she received. The nanny was worried about little Jimmy and also about losing her job.
They were from the second batch of nannies; the first batch, who had been prejudiced against Young Master Jimmy, had been fired by the young mistress of the house.
Julia descended to the third floor and paused at the top of the stairs. After a moment’s thought, she went to Mila Anderson’s room and knocked gently on the door.
"Who is it?" Mila Anderson’s voice, tinged with tears, came from inside.
"Mom, it’s me, Julia."
In the room, Mila Anderson was holding Jimmy. Having received the answer he wanted, Jimmy was becoming drowsy. After all, children get sleepy when it gets late.
Hearing Julia’s knock, Mila gently laid Jimmy down on her bed. Jimmy, his eyes heavy with sleep, glanced at her and then closed them.
Mila covered Jimmy’s navel with a thin blanket, then turned to open the door. Seeing Julia standing there, she asked softly, "Julia, what’s the matter? It’s so late. Haven’t you gone to bed yet?"
"Mom, Jimmy isn’t in his room. He knocked on my door just now, but by the time I came out, he was gone." Julia’s tone held a barely discernible hint of unease.
Mila stepped aside to let Julia enter, saying, "He’s in my room. He’s asleep now."
