Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law-Chapter 752 - 751 Joyful Events One After Another (1)_1
Orlando Evans had thrown herself into the sea. Neither Glades Horne nor Hansen Ruiz could determine if she was alive or dead, so she remained a hidden concern in Glades Horne’s heart. He worried that she might emerge again and cause destruction; he would not allow anyone to ruin his marriage with Julia Bluen again. Secretly, he still had people searching for news of Orlando Evans.
Now, upon hearing Benjamin Robinson’s words, Glades Horne felt relieved.
Orlando Evans was dead. It was a fate she had brought upon herself.
She had been imprisoned and released, yet remained unrepentant, still harboring thoughts of vengeance, and eventually met her demise.
It could be said that Orlando Evans was also a tragic figure.
Her love for Glades Horne wasn’t wrong in itself, but it was far too obsessive. Glades Horne had rejected her advances time and again, yet she failed to realize the truth and persisted in her love. Because of her love for Glades, she hated the Bluen sisters. This led her to prompt Adele Horne to go against Julia Bluen, which angered Glades Horne and resulted in the destruction of her own family. Ultimately, she was jailed for harboring thoughts of revenge.
After her release, she should have started afresh and lived a new life. However, she was still unable to let go of that love, that hatred, and even plotted to poison the sweet dumpling shop to harm Julia Bluen. The problems with Rachel’s food were also her doing. Leaving aside her intent to poison Julia Bluen’s sweet dumpling shop with rat poison, the mere act of tampering with Rachel’s dishes, causing thousands of workers to be poisoned, was enough to have her imprisoned again.
"She brought it on herself." Benjamin Robinson didn’t say much more.
Orlando Evans was already a criminal suspect, and the police were tracking her down. Intending to use poison again, Glades Horne and Hansen Ruiz had chased after her, wanting to apprehend her. But she fled and plunged into the sea of her own accord. She could blame no one else.
Neither Glades Horne nor Hansen Ruiz needed to bear any criminal responsibility.
Because Benjamin Robinson had arrived at the scene the day after the incident. From the tire marks, it was determined that Orlando Evans had crashed into the sea on her own. Glades Horne’s and Hansen Ruiz’s tire marks were nearly ten meters from the cliff edge, making it impossible for them to have pushed Orlando Evans into the sea. Moreover, there was a boat sailing hundreds of meters away from the scene at that time. The people on the boat had witnessed Orlando Evans driving into the sea on her own from afar. Only moments later did they see people appear at the cliff edge, thus proving Glades Horne’s and Hansen Ruiz’s innocence.
However, Benjamin Robinson knew that the uncertainty of Orlando Evans’s fate weighed heavily on Glades Horne. Now that there was a conclusion, he felt it necessary to inform Glades, lest he continue to worry and guard against Orlando Evans’s potential revenge.
Having retrieved the photograph, Benjamin Robinson stood up and said, "If there’s nothing else, I’ll be going."
Glades Horne also stood up, his attitude cool as he walked Benjamin Robinson to the office door. As he opened the office door for Benjamin Robinson, he suddenly said, "Benjamin, you’re not getting any younger; it’s time to find someone."
Upon hearing this, Benjamin Robinson abruptly halted, turned, and stared at Glades Horne. After a moment, as if helplessly, he asked, "Did my father ask you to persuade me?"
Glades Horne simply smiled faintly, neither confirming nor denying.
As the son of high-ranking officials, Benjamin Robinson had a good family background and character. He and Glades were of similar age. Yet, while Glades was already cradling his wife and beloved son, Benjamin Robinson was still a bachelor.
It was no wonder Secretary Robinson had asked Glades to act as a go-between.
"In my line of work, it’s hard to find someone who understands, unless you marry a colleague," Benjamin Robinson said softly.
Glades Horne smiled faintly again and asked, "Aren’t there any attractive female officers at your police station?"
Benjamin Robinson pursed his lips and fell silent.
Yes, but there would have to be a spark, wouldn’t there?
"I’m leaving." Benjamin Robinson turned and left without saying more.
Marriage was a serious matter, and he didn’t want to marry merely out of responsibility; there had to be feelings involved. As a criminal police officer, even though he was now a deputy director, he still often worked on cases with his team and faced potential dangers. Few people outside the profession could understand or support him.
Glades Horne watched him walk into the elevator before he turned to close the office door, only to be stopped by Secretary Yang.
Secretary Yang hurried over. "CEO, the CEO’s wife has arrived. She went into the VIP room while you were talking with Theo Robinson."
As soon as she finished speaking, Glades Horne immediately headed for the VIP room.
Julia Bluen rarely came to the company to see him. If she did, it definitely meant something was up.
Julia Bluen sat in the VIP room, her bag casually placed beside her, yet she held a piece of paper in her hands, which seemed to be a test report. She was absorbed in the paper, staring at the results, occasionally smiling to herself.
That was what Glades Horne saw when he entered.
He tiptoed up behind her.
Julia Bluen was so engrossed that she didn’t notice Glades Horne had come in.
Suddenly, a pair of large hands embraced her neck from behind, startling her back to reality. She turned her head and saw Glades Horne standing right behind her. She laughed, prying his hands from her neck. "You didn’t make a sound! Were you trying to scare me to death?"
Glades chuckled and sat down beside her. "I didn’t scare you, did I? I don’t see a trace of fright on your face. What are you looking at so intently? I came in—so tall, like a mountain striding in—and you didn’t even notice. Julia, I’m hurt. You actually ignored me."
Towards the end, Glades Horne intentionally put on a sad face, feigning neglect.
Julia Bluen handed him the test report she was holding and said, "Take a look for yourself."
It was from her recent hospital visit. Her period was late this month; it hadn’t arrived. She went to check if she was pregnant and, to her surprise, the result was positive.
Not long ago, the old lady had just mentioned them having a second child, and now, she was indeed pregnant again.
She felt both joy and turmoil.
She wanted the baby, yet she also didn’t. She really wanted a daughter, one as sensible and adorable as Camila, but she feared she might have another son. Moreover, with Ivan at home—the little boy was so clever, and both she and Glades loved him dearly—she worried that her pregnancy might upset him. Many children have such adverse reactions, thinking that if their parents have another son or daughter, they will no longer be loved as much.
When Julia Bluen used to work at Cosmos, she had once heard a female colleague complain. The colleague said that when she had her younger son, her older son was very unhappy. During the younger son’s full-month celebration, while friends and family rejoiced, only her older son sulked. As the younger son grew, the older one constantly bullied him, even saying that their mother favored his little brother and didn’t love him.
Julia Bluen worried Ivan might react the same way.
So she was in turmoil, unsure if she wanted this child.
When Glades Horne took the test results and looked at them, his face immediately lit up. Tossing the paper aside, he joyfully pulled her into an embrace and exclaimed, "Honey, I’m going to be a father again!"
