Chapter 31: Let's Go to the Foundation Festival
Sharon's POV—
Roads were decorated like a bride in her marriage. No slacking was allowed. There was not a single corner left untouched. They were beautified to their fullest, revealing their finest. Houses were illuminated with vibrant colours. Lamps, candles, magic illuminators... everything were used to decorate the whole capital. In the air, there was a sweet scent. A scent which smelled sweet, not because of its aromatic nature. No, it generated from the exuberance and happiness of the people in the whole empire. It was a festival celebrated not only by the capital people but also, by the people all around the empire.
Kids were flowing like a stream across the streets. Playing, laughing and enjoying this day. Their innocence acted as a valuable ornament which multiplied this festival's essence.
Couples were professing their love for their respective partners. Even a cupid would face much difficulty in firing love arrows at everyone. New couples formed; old ones vowed again.
Overall, there was a smile etched in everyone's face. Even a painting would not be able to capture their reactions.
I stood at my balcony, a place where I could see the whole capital. Kaerin, who stood beside me, exclaimed, "Whoa! Look at them! They are really enjoying themselves."
"It's because this festival marks the starting of this glorious empire. Commoners and nobles, adults and children, men and women... everyone. Today is the day when the people were liberated from the evil, 'Chaos Dragon.' This festival is for everyone."
"That's true," commented Kaerin. I turned towards her and observed her reaction.

Kaerin's eyes were filled with desire, and her face depicted longingness. Just by her reaction, I could gauze out that she wanted to go there.
"Shall we go there?" I offered.
She quickly turned towards me and asked, "How?"
"We will disguise ourselves," I stated it as if it was a fact.
Kaerin's eyes shined with happiness. She exclaimed, "Let's go then!"
"Then... disguise yourself. Especially, disguise your ears and your tail. No one should see it," I said to her.
"Ok~" Kaerin left bouncing on her feet after saying this. I should get ready as well.

I disguised myself as a commoner woman whereas, Kaerin disguised as a... man.
"Darling~ You are my wife and I am your husband. Understood?"
My eyebrows twitched in annoyance. I was not surprised at all when I heard those words.
"Fine. Let's go then." Kaerin nodded her head eagerly.
Slowly, we walked towards the central hall. While walking, we savoured every moment that we could get. Kaerin was asking about everything as if she was a child.
Various melodies hit our ears, soothing it. I felt their singing poured nectar right into my ears, making it swell with joy. Guitarists, pianists, violinists, drummers, etc. were all showcasing their talents. Kaerin grabbed my wrists and pulled me to see everyone's performance.
Kaerin stopped in front of a musical instruments shop. She told me to wait outside the shop while, she quickly entered into the shop. After some time, she came out with an accordion and a harp.
She pushed the guitar into my hands without saying anything. Confused, I asked, "What should I do with this?"
Kaerin smiled and exclaimed, "Let's sing."
"I-I c-can't! I-I am n-not a good s-s-singer."
"Come on! It's not like anyone know you. If you sing bad then... we could bolt out of here. Let's try. You have a good voice. Let's try. Please! You can do this," Kaerin encouraged me.
I sighed and shook my head. Kaerin is too much of a stubborn creature to take 'no' as the answer. Hmmm... fine. I have always wanted to sing as well. So, why not use this opportunity? Let's do this.
