Queen Mommy's Six Genius Babies Found the CEO Daddy-Chapter 193: The Surprise
Sophia lay in bed, her eyes still vacant and unfocused.
"Sophia, instead of torturing yourself with guesses, why not go see Andrew again? As long as there’s a crack somewhere, you’ll spot it."
"My... my feelings are all over the place. I don’t even know how to explain it to you. I can’t wrap my head around how a cold, lifeless tombstone could suddenly become nothing more than decoration. The person I’ve been mourning for years... might’ve been deceiving me this whole time."
Sophia lowered her gaze.
"Don’t overthink. Try to sleep."
Sophia closed her eyes. Lucas was right—if she wanted the truth, there were only two options: Either confront Andrew again... or meet the person who sent her that sachet.
But...
She didn’t believe that person would ever show up.
As she shut her eyes, all she could see was Aurora lying weakly on a hospital bed, barely able to breathe, needing help just to eat.
There was one thing she was sure of—Aurora’s resuscitation had failed. She had watched her die with her own eyes. Later, she personally sent her remains to the cemetery in LA.
Her mother... was gone.
But now everything felt turned upside down.
Lucas watched her, eyes narrowing slightly. He had prepared a gift for her, a very good one—but tonight clearly wasn’t the right time to bring it out.
He wasn’t sure how long had passed, but her breathing was still uneven.
Trying to look calm, he slipped out of bed. As soon as he cracked the door open, her voice followed him:
"It’s late. Where are you going?"
"Getting you a warm glass of milk."
"I don’t need it."
Her mood was heavy. She glanced at the clock—11:55 p.m.
Once Lucas left the room, six little figures instantly popped up from behind the furniture, carrying an enormous cake.
"Daddy... how did it go? Mommy didn’t notice, right?"
The kids whispered like mini conspirators.
Lucas shook his head. "She didn’t notice. When we light the candles, hold the cake steady. I’m going downstairs to get the rest."
Honestly, he feared Sophia catching them more than the kids messing up.
This would be her first birthday since they became a real couple. Even if the day had been full of things that shouldn’t have happened... she still deserved something good, something that was hers. No one she loved should ever lack what others had.
Lucas hurried downstairs and came back with a bouquet of roses.
Sophia was still lost in memories when she suddenly heard soft footsteps outside her room.
"Lucas?"
She called out casually. Lucas entered, but she didn’t turn to look.
Exactly at midnight, suddenly—
"Happy birthday to you... Happy birthday to you..."
For a moment, Sophia thought she was hallucinating. But the voices grew clearer—right there in the room.
She sat up, stunned.
Lucas stood at the foot of the bed in a clean suit, holding a bouquet. Behind him, six children walked carefully toward her with a glowing birthday cake.
"Lucas..."
"Sophia, happy birthday."
"Mommy, happy birthday!"
Six bright, smiling little faces chimed together. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
"You... all of you..."
Lucas knelt on one knee and held the flowers out to her. "Unless you plan to stay in bed and accept all our love from there?"
That snapped her out of her daze—she scrambled up and took the roses with both hands.
"Mommy, blow out the candles!" Faye urged.
Sophia looked at them—her man, her children—and finally, finally a smile blossomed on her face.
She closed her eyes, hands clasped.
She wished that everything could unfold as it should... that the people she loved, and the ones who loved her, would all stay safe and well.
The tiny flames flickered.
When she blew them out, the room lights turned on again.
"Mommy, happy birthday! Wishing you joy every single day!"
"Mommy, may you be beautiful every day!"
The children’s blessings came one after another, and she accepted every single one of them.
Sophia’s lips curled up. The weight she had been carrying all day finally loosened a little.
No matter what the truth turned out to be, at least right now she still had her children—and the man beside her.
Her life was so much happier than she ever imagined.
"Mommy, Daddy also prepared a big surprise for you. We won’t bother you two anymore. We wish you and Daddy eternal love and a perfect, happy life together!"
A big surprise?
Sophia looked skeptically at the man next to her.
"Wait, Mommy."
Angela quickly cut the cake, leaving two plates behind, then whisked the rest of the cake away with the others.
Sophia was completely confused. "What’s going on?"
Lucas cleared his throat.
How was he supposed to explain this?
These kids... absolutely cannot stay.
They can’t keep a single secret.
"The lights are too bright. Let’s turn them off first."
He walked over to switch off the lights—
And immediately felt a warm body lean onto his back.
"What’s the rush? We haven’t even eaten the cake yet."
Sophia stopped him, picked up her slice, and took a bite. The smile on her face deepened.
Lucas took a deep breath, then murmured under his breath, "Am I really less tempting than a piece of cake?"
Sophia blinked. "What?"
"Nothing."
Then—Lucas suddenly turned off the lights completely.
The room went pitch black.
"Lucas, I’m still eating—mmph..."
Sophia’s eyes widened in the darkness. She kept her plate raised, trying to push him away.
"The cake—careful, it’ll fall."
Suddenly—
She heard the sound of buttons being undone.
Then her hand was guided to touch something... furry.
She froze.
A moment later, he lifted her hand again—this time placing it on top of his head.
Soft, fake animal ears.
Her mind immediately supplied a possibility... but she wasn’t sure.
"Lucas, you—"
"Exactly what you’re thinking. So... do you want the cake, or do you want... me?"
Sophia felt her face heat up instantly.
She set the cake aside in the dark, grabbed his "tail," then fisted a hand in his collar and pulled him down into a kiss.
She wasn’t stupid.
With that kind of temptation right in front of her—
Why on earth would she choose logic?
Lucas was more than pleased.
The next morning, Sophia woke up feeling refreshed and energized.
She turned her head—Lucas was still asleep.
At the doorway, Faye’s little face peeked in... followed by five more stacked above hers.
Sophia hurriedly waved at them to close the door.
Faye grinned mischievously and shut it.
Sophia went downstairs first. The cake was still sitting on the table.
"Mommy~ did you sleep well?"
"It was fine."
She pinched Charles’s cheek.
Though she was smiling, her next words were pure threat:
"Charles, do you know what all those characters—who die really fast in the dramas Mommy lets you watch—have in common?"
Charles’s smile stiffened. "The good guys die, the villains live, and the main characters have plot armor?"
"No. It’s the ones who know too much... who don’t live long."
Charles’s lips trembled as he hugged her waist.
"Mommy, please don’t scare me. I’m just a kid. I don’t know anything."
Sophia smirked and picked up her phone—
But the moment she saw an unfamiliar text message, her smile froze.
