Chapter 92: So It Was Him

"I’m a legitimate member of the shareholders’ meeting!" Aiden continued to argue, his voice full of defiance.

"I’m the largest shareholder," Lucas responded slowly, just enough to silence him.

His uncle was certainly an interesting character; sometimes, he couldn’t figure out what Aiden was actually trying to do.

Aiden lost his temper. "Lucas, I came here to see you. I know there’s been a misunderstanding between us, and I hope we can clear it up. Is that okay?"

"Clear it up? Uncle, I’ve already found the video of the car accident from a few years ago. Want to guess what I saw?"

He smirked coldly. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

Aiden paused, taken aback. "Lucas..."

"Richard’s still fine because he’s not as greedy as you, Uncle. But remember, everyone’s patience has its limits."

Lucas glanced at Aiden’s new car. "A new Maybach? I guess your strength is more impressive than I thought."

Holding Sophia in his arms, Lucas turned and headed back toward the villa.

"Lucas, aren’t you going to invite me in? I came to share some good news!"

Sophia lifted her head and flipped him the bird.

Aiden’s eyes widened, clearly shocked by her rude gesture.

Lucas turned to face him. "Good news? Uncle, are you sure?"

Aiden took a deep breath before responding, "I’ve signed a new quarterly catering contract with Morgan Group."

Signed a catering contract with Morgan Group?

Lucas’s expression darkened even further. "Who gave you the right? While I’m away from the company, no one has the authority to make decisions without my approval!"

"The crisis with Morgan Group is over, and I had a meeting with the board. They all agreed we should cooperate, so I used the company seal."

A shareholders’ meeting was held, and Lucas had no idea about it. Even Alex hadn’t reported it to him.

Making decisions and signing contracts with Morgan Group without his approval?

"Uncle, without my permission, if you dared to sign this contract, then you’ll have to take responsibility for your actions!"

"You weren’t here, so shouldn’t I help you out? Besides, Sophia is still Morgan Family’s daughter. Helping them is like helping Sophia, right?"

"You old fool, shameless as ever. I can’t believe you’re saying that."

Sophia’s voice, low and angry, clearly reached his ears.

She lifted her head and raised her middle finger. "You’ve been in business for decades, and you don’t know the law of the industry? If Jessica finds out you’ve been using her just to get their help, do you think she won’t turn on you?"

Aiden choked on his words. How did she know everything?

Sophia was starting to think much more clearly now. She stared intensely at Aiden. "Blackstone Manor isn’t a place anyone can just walk into. A while ago, I was secretly filmed—should I count that as another bill you need to pay?"

"Sophia, don’t talk nonsense! What filming?"

She smiled faintly. "Uncle, you should understand. If I choose to sue you, even if you didn’t do it, you’ll be under surveillance. Even if it’s just for one day, I can ruin your reputation in the media."

Aiden had never been involved in anything that would make someone film her, but hearing her words made him uncertain.

Sophia’s approach was just like Lucas—decisive and ruthless.

"It wasn’t me, Sophia! Don’t make trouble!"

"How could it not be you? If I want to, I can choose to believe it was you."

So it turns out that the funding chain that Morgan Family had lost was actually repaired by Aiden.

She had been trying to investigate the person behind the scenes, but now, Aiden was the one bringing up Olivia. Clearly, she was involved with him too.

Olivia didn’t seem like the typical person who would enter the entertainment industry, but if it was Aiden, that made sense.

But...

There was still one thing she couldn’t quite figure out.

Andrew would never allow his daughter to enter the entertainment industry, so how was it that Aiden not only had dealings with Morgan Group but was also in contact with Olivia?

Did Andrew really have no idea that his youngest daughter was working with Aiden?

The possibility piqued her interest even more.

"Sophia, you know that I..."

"I’m hungry."

Before Aiden could continue, Sophia interrupted. Lucas gave him a sharp glance. "Tomorrow, I’ll be holding a board meeting. Since you say everyone agrees with you, I’m curious—just how many people are actually on your side, Uncle?"

He carried Sophia into the house and, with a quick motion, shut the door behind him.

Aiden’s face turned sour.

Lucas was threatening him.

Some of the board members were on his side, and if this escalated, the consequences could be disastrous.

Sophia’s back was covered in sweat, and her sense of smell seemed to have returned.

"I want to get up."

Lucas was a bit surprised by her words. "You’re willing to get up now?"

Sophia coughed lightly and stood up. "I’m fine now."

"Are you sure?"

After walking around for a bit, was it really the sun that was going to change her attitude?

Sophia was already feeling much better, and her mind was clearing up.

Thinking back to her earlier embarrassing actions, she couldn’t help but lower her head, trying to act as if nothing had happened.

"Mommy, you’re better now!"

The kids rushed over to her. Sophia nodded, then suddenly remembered what time it was. "Later, have Mrs. Wilson take you to your lessons."

Faye pouted, "Mommy’s really better, she even knows the time now."

"Master, the meal is ready.."

Mrs. Wilson brought in the light meal, and now Sophia had the strength to eat.

"It’s good that she’s better. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have known what to do. But I didn’t expect Madam to act like such a child and even act spoiled."

Mrs. Wilson unintentionally teased her, causing Sophia’s ears to turn bright red. Her face nearly buried in the bowl.

Oh my God, how embarrassing!

She had actually clung to Lucas’s leg and refused to get up?

She covered her face in frustration. Her entire reputation was ruined!

"Mommy, don’t be shy. Daddy’s already seen your worst side."

"Yeah, Mommy, don’t worry. Daddy spoils you and lets you act all spoiled. Looks like we can finally relax."

The kids spoke seriously, as if they were little adults.

"Kids, what are you talking about? Do you even understand?"

Eric grinned, "Mommy, we don’t understand. We just see it."

Dustin pouted too, gesturing for Sophia to look at Lucas.

He was staring at her, his eyes locked on her.

Sophia knew that!

After a long pause, she hesitated before speaking up. "Didn’t you say you’d be gone for ten days or even half a month? How come you’re back after just three or four days?"

"The situation at the overseas branch wasn’t as bad as I thought. There was a mole in the company, someone planted by others. After I dealt with it, I came straight back."

Sophia nodded thoughtfully.

Lucas put down his spoon, looking at her. "Then I suppose you should explain your identity to me?"

Sophia stiffened.
