Chapter 92 - The Boundaries

"Can you sit down and stop pacing?" Solina said. She held Jun's hand for support. Her mouth felt very dry. She licked her lips.

"It has been almost two years. I did not think he would stop responding to my communications." Kehye said, he was wrought with anxiety as the transport moved to the Quill building. Solina had agreed to a meeting with Kai and Kelly, provided that she met with Kai and his counselor first.

"Kehye." Jun said his name as a word of caution. Solina had mixed reactions to the terms of the meet-up. She ended up going to the quarters in which the old Matriarch had occupied and smashing the mirrors of a strange room and having a breakdown. She was sober now, so she spent her time cooling off. Once she was stable, she sent a message to the Quills to arrange the visit.

"What did you forget what she was like before? Soli was never the quiet type? Do you think he will take your words and progress seriously? He just cut off contact? Just like that, does he know that you both suffered the same thing.?" Kehye said.

"What happened after Hera died was my fault. I should have done many things. Perhaps I should have killed her. I mean he found a way." Solina said, looking down. She went into daily counseling with the best counselors and doctors they could find. She tapered off the tranquilizers when she was put onto daily medication. Once they were effective, she was able to quit using the tranquilizers. This took months to see progress. It was hard coping with the onslaught of emotion. "I had never been great at dealing with any sort of emotion. The first time I held him and comforted him alone it was so overwhelming. I wonder how he was with her?"

"He was just so quiet. He never said anything to me. I thought he was going to be happy when he left us. What if she is controlling her?" Kehye asked. He had been rightfully angry and upset when he learned about the disturbing punishments that Hera Setton had inflicted upon his own son. He thought she had been protecting them. The abuse was worse than he thought, it was spread out among all her children, spouses and staff. Kehye began to understand her and his own son a lot more and understood why Solina always sent them off to meetings.

'Will this visit cause her a setback? What about Kai? How was he dealing with all that had happened? How did he feel being sent away by his Mother and kept away from his family? It must have been crushing to his spirit,' Kehye thought.

"Relax, Keyhe, I think you are more tense about this than she is." Jun said to his co-spouse. Jun was just glad Hera was dead. If she was not, he would have murdered her himself after finding out what she had done. So much more of Solina's behavior made sense to him. His own child, Yuri's behavior, made sense. Kehye felt a small hand reach for his own hand. When he realized that it was Solina's, he felt a warmth spread through him as he was brought back to reality.

"Please sit. What matters is what I do now. I promise you I will not disappoint you," Solina said. Her eyes searched Kehye's. His hand impressed hers and he sat down with a big sigh. She could not blame him for his lack of faith. It had merely been months. The inertia slowed. "We are here," Solina said, somewhat excited.

"Welcome to the home of Quill Industries. Please stand by while your identification is screened so that you are directed to the proper receiving area. We thank you for your patience." A welcoming female automated voice called.

"Please open your interfaces and authenticate your identity." The automated voice rang off. The five adults opened up their interfaces and confirmed using the authentication screen. Solina's eyes widened seeing a new style of transport interface pop up that she had never seen before. An automated voice rang out as puffy feathers gracefully floated in a spiral in their view. It was quite breathtaking.

"Thank you for confirming. For security purposes, your window shields will be lowered as your transport is guided to the main residence. Thank you for your understanding." the automated voice said as a calming piece of music started to play in the cab as the window shields were raised. The lights in the cabin lit up and dimmed to a comfortable level.

"This is really secure." Jun said, impressed with the experience.

"Well, you would have to be secure with six females on site," Kehye said.

"This is what it is like when Setton, Hudai and Sedai merge." Solina said, impressed with the security. It was elegant and intelligent. She heard a gate unlocking. She could not sense any inertia or feel the transport moving as time passed. "This is incredible. I cannot feel the transport moving, so I cannot detect which direction we went in," Solina said with a huge grin on her face. She was beaming with pride. She heard a docking clamp click. "We could be anywhere in the building or underwater by now." Solina said. In her haze she had failed to notice the impressive talents the Northerner had added to her bind. For someone with barely any knowledge of the power structure of modern society, she had made wise decisions and risky ones. Considering the rumors about her. Either that or her son was very safe were he was.

"Please stand by." the automated voice rang out. A soft bump of inertia was felt. "Please prepare to disembark. Thank you for your patience. Your host will greet you shortly." The music turned off as the door opened to an indoor area. A doorway opened.

Nora walked out of the doorway holding Kai's hand. Solina could not believe her eyes. He looked very different. He seemed healthier and happier. His skin was glowing. His normally tightly cropped hair was longer and tussled. He had a nice light beard that looked very attractive on him. His clothes were more laid back than the black and slate clothing that he used to wear. Time had been good to her son. He looked like a different man.

"Greetings, and thank you for your patience with our security features. As you understand, we have to have higher security than most clans due to the makeup of our family unit." Nora smiled as she greeted the group. "We will guide you to a sitting area where you will meet our counselor. In our building we have different principles than in society. If you have a dispute with our staff, I would ask you to discuss this with me. If you abuse my staff, you will be asked to leave. On your Interface a prompt will come up with a confidentiality agreement. On your agreement, the discipline tools on your Interface will be disabled during the duration of your visit for the safety of my staff and occupants of Quill Industries. Should these terms be unacceptable to you may depart without incident," Nora said, with a cool voice. Solina, without hesitation, opened her Interface and quickly read the terms.

"A massive fine and punitive actions? Impressive. Everyone, please open up your settings. I agree with this," Solina said as she agreed to the terms of service without further delay. The group of four spouses agreed as well. They were pleased with the progressiveness of the young Matriarch.

"I have a lot to protect and very impressive spouses," Nora said directly to Solina.

"Thank you, Mother and fathers," Kai said nervously. Solina caught the 'Mother' that he used. She was used to being called Solina by him ever since she sent him away. She could not help it, her eyes welled up with tears. She cleared her throat.

"Son, you look wonderful," Kehye said. Solina's throat felt tight. She gripped Kehye's hand.

"Please follow me. The doors are very secure in this part of the complex, so they require you to be accompanied by one of our spousal group members or one of our trusted staff members." Nora said, turning around. She walked up to the door and it detected her. Kai followed behind the group with his father. When the door opened, Solina noticed the grading of the door. It would take a lot of force to open the door that could not be generated in the small space of the garage. There was a lot of forethought that went into the construction. Kadir worked with Kai on this component of the entry of their private living space. Their main residence's location was a closely guarded secret. The only staff that had access to the residence was Janel and that was only by a medical override. Janel and Monil lived on site with their family in another part of the building. After walking for a couple of minutes, another door opened to an impressive room full of plants and flowers. There were beautiful artworks of birds and a soothing water feature. A tower of plates of different types of small foods and cookies were set out on the table with a couple of pitchers of different drinks. There were lots of napkins and a small stack of cups.

"These are sandwiches and Cookies. Kai assured me that none of you have allergies. Please enjoy yourself," Nora said. Kai grabbed her hand.

"Can you stay?" Kai said to Nora in Korean. He was feeling nervous about the encounter.

"Are you positive that you want me to be here for this? I know that there are things you have not yet felt sure about sharing with me." Nora said in Korean, to keep his confidence.

"I am sure. It will make me feel better." Kai said back in the same language. Nora pointed at a jug and smiled like they were talking about it.

"Alright Sweetheart, tell me immediately if you want me to give you privacy." Nora finished in Korean. Solina watched the interaction, somewhat understanding through his body language. He wanted her here and she was encouraging him. She treated him well. Solina felt a massive amount of weight come off her shoulders.

"That is our new Iced Tea. Are you allergic to Yuen? He was not sure, " Nora asked, in Calloran covering the impromptu conversation they had. The group shook their heads.

"Great! Please enjoy yourself." Nora said as she poured herself something to drink. She sat down as Janel came into the room. He looked really beautiful today. He had come to Nora to ask if he could start to wear dresses on site, which did not bother her or any of her spousal group.

"This is Janel, our family counselor and most respected doctor on site. Janel works only to our clan and has pledged loyalty. Janel is bound by confidentiality. Please do not feel burdened to hold back in his presence. Janel is very important to me. Please treat Janel with the respect that you would treat me or any of my spousal group with." Nora said, introducing her friend.
