Chapter 694: Chapter 290 Old Friend_1

All he could do was take his companions and flee, but with the Investiture of the Gods in the enemy’s hands, the outcome would be the same.

"Investiture of the Gods... If only I could get my hands on the Investiture of the Gods," Qin Shou mumbled to himself as his pace quickened.

For the first time, Qin Shou cursed that he couldn’t be in two places at once. Otherwise, he could have aided on one front while searching for Chang’e on the other. Wouldn’t that have taken care of everything?

Unfortunately, he could only help one side, and it seemed he wasn’t much use staying here.

Then Qin Shou went to look for Li Zhenying. The girl was especially happy to see the rabbit, cooking some food herself for the rabbit. Hearing that Qin Shou was about to venture deep into the starry sky, she stuffed all her treasures into his arms. Although these treasures weren’t much for Qin Shou now, he felt the warmth of the girl’s intentions.

Next, Qin Shou paid a visit to Shushan, and to his surprise, the entire Shushan had just one person still reading in the Wenqu Palace, Mutou.

"Mutou, why are you still reading here?" Qin Shou asked.

Mutou stammered, "Teach-teacher said... after finishing... finishing this book... then I can return... return home. I’ve only... only read one-third of it... they finished... #@%%..."

Qin Shou listened for a full half-hour before he managed to understand Mutou’s meaning.

Three years ago, Wenqu Star Monarch went to the Lower Realm to fight in a war. To ensure his students would study in peace and complete their tasks, he left a thick book for each person to finish before they could go home.

As a result, Li Zhenying and Chongba spent a month reading the book and scurried home as soon as they were done.

Then there was unlucky Mutou, who had been sitting and reading up to now...

As for the Wenqu Star Monarch, he’d left three years ago and hadn’t returned since. He’d been gallivanting outside all this time, probably with no idea that a foolishly honest disciple was still diligently studying in Wenqu Palace.

Qin Shou, feeling rather helpless, snatched the book, saying, "I haven’t laid eyes on it yet. Let me borrow it. I’ll give it back when I’m done and you can continue reading... If the teacher asks, just say I took it to read. He won’t blame you."

Mutou was taken aback and by the time he gathered his wits, the rabbit was long gone.

Then Mutou scratched his head, pondered a bit, and went home.

Qin Shou next headed to the Imperial Garden. To his astonishment, the two fellows who were supposed to be at the gate weren’t there. Inside the Imperial Garden, towering trees were still everywhere.

Before Qin Shou could take a longer look, a branch suddenly extended towards him, coiling around him and hoisting Qin Shou high into the air.

Qin Shou turned his head and saw a huge eye examining him!

Then the big eye retreated, revealing a massive and sturdy tree trunk, like a pillar holding up the sky, with a face on it that was grinning stupidly at him!

Looking at the colossal tree before him, Qin Shou tentatively asked, "Conghua?"

Then Qin Shou saw the large tree shaking continuously, its leaves over four meters long rustling down, piling up so densely around him that he had a hard time lifting his head.

Qin Shou could never have imagined that this huge tree was indeed Conghua!

Overwhelmed with joy, Qin Shou also transformed into a gigantic form and gave Conghua a giant hug.

After catching up on old times, Qin Shou subconsciously looked into the distance, and to his surprise, he pointed and said, "Conghua, wasn’t there a White Bone Mountain before? Where did the mountain go?"

Conghua wrote row after row of words in the air: "It was moved. Three years ago, someone came to the Heavenly Court looking for her. She followed that person and never returned."

Qin Shou asked, "Who was looking for her? And wasn’t she confined here? The Heavenly Court just let her leave?"

Conghua shook its body full of leaves, then an image appeared. Qin Shou saw a blurred figure meeting the white-dressed lady, and after what seemed like a conversation between them, they left together.

Qin Shou frowned tightly and said, "Conghua, can we get a clearer image?"

Conghua replied, "The other party is too powerful. If she doesn’t let me remember her, I can’t remember, so I can only roughly make out a shadow."

Qin Shou knew that reaching a certain level of power could indeed influence everything...

Since the lady was no longer there, Qin Shou had no reason to reminisce anymore. After chatting with Conghua for a while, he shared his plans. Upon hearing them, Conghua immediately pulled out a box and handed it to Qin Shou, saying, "Yours."

Qin Shou opened it and saw a crystal skull lying inside.

Qin Shou immediately laughed and said, "I didn’t expect you to be keeping this guy. You keep it, for self-defense."

Conghua stuffed the crystal skull back into Qin Shou’s hands and said, "Only you can use it. Without you, it’s just a bone. It’s useless to me." 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

Out of necessity, Qin Shou had no choice but to keep it.

Then, Conghua suddenly shook its body, and with a snap, an arm broke off. It then handed the severed limb to Qin Shou.

Qin Shou was dumbfounded on the spot and said, "Conghua, I’m leaving, you don’t have to mutilate yourself, do you? Good brother, real affection, I understand."

Conghua, having no facial features, could express all its meanings with a shake. It seemed to give Qin Shou an accusatory look, then conveyed with a shake, "I’m a tree; I can regrow at any time. Any of my branches are part of me. Given time and energy, they can grow into another me. Let it accompany you; it might come in handy."

Qin Shou patted Conghua and said, "Thank you."

After leaving the Imperial Garden, Qin Shou still did not see Baiwen and the others. He wandered around in the Heavenly Court again and finally found the Wenqu Star Monarch.

There he was, standing on the balcony of a tavern, sipping wine and enjoying the scenery, utterly carefree, although no women were around him.

Qin Shou immediately rushed over and asked as soon as he saw him, "Sir, how did you know I’d come back and ask those questions?"

The Wenqu Star Monarch said with a laugh, "Figuring that out is impossible; your aura is too shrouded in mystery for me to calculate. But deducting is not a problem. With your personality, you wouldn’t miss such a big event. If you came back, you would certainly have a lot of questions, so I prepared various answers in advance to respond to you. Simple, right?"

Qin Shou opened his mouth, thought about it, and found it quite reasonable.

Just then, a shout came from afar: "Wenqu, let’s go, we’re going to enjoy the snow!"

"Alright!" Wenqu Star Monarch responded immediately, then patted Rabbit’s head and said, "Go do what you gotta do. Don’t get in the way of my pursuit of love. Remember, no matter what, keep the Righteous Qi in your heart, stand proudly between Heaven and Earth, unflinching as the sky falls, nothing can bend your backbone..."

"Nonsense! Let’s go!" Just then, a steamed bun smacked Wenqu Star Monarch right in the face. Wenqu Star Monarch instantly forgot about his lofty speech and hurriedly replied with a smile, "Alright, alright, I’m coming right now."
