Chapter 7: Chapter 7: Entering the Village

When the two heard this, they suddenly realised that this whole time, what separated them was only a warning formation and a thin protection formation controlled by no one.

If the person in front of them attacked, they would have no way to protect themselves!

"Quack! Quack! Quack!" the mandarin duck in Fengyu’s arms quacked, clearing the tense atmosphere.

"Zimu is saying that you don’t have to be scared, that I’m a kind cultivator who only knows how to raise ducks..." Fengyu repeated Zimu’s words, smiling slightly.

"You can understand the duck?!" Ling asked in shock.

Fengyu only smiled, not explaining anything.

"Ling’er, don’t ask such a thing! Senior-"

"Just call me big brother, no need to call me senior. Can you tell me how to enter the city? I’m really lost and want to find a safe place. If I were to go back, I would likely encounter danger I can’t fight..." he spoke eloquently.

Ming-ge nodded slightly, his expression easing as he pointed to the side, "If big brother walks in that direction for ten minutes, he will see a road leading into the peripheral area.

To enter the city formally, one needs the cultivation of a late-stage Qi Refining cultivator. Else, just the aura of higher cultivators would be too suppressive.

But before that, one can enter the villages built around these peaks, rent fields and sell the generated income to the stewards of the peak."

"Thank you for telling me!" Fengyu cupped his hands in thanks and turned to the way the young man pointed, not staying any longer. He knew any prolonged presence would inevitably make these people uneasy, so leaving right away was the best decision.

Just as Ming said, after a few minutes, he saw a clear road leading into the forest.

Walking on the road, he felt the spiritual power in the air rising, gradually reaching a higher level.

’Inhabited places always feel better!’

While there was spiritual power everywhere in the world, the degree rose and fell according to the amount of spiritual veins beneath the earth.

Only places where spiritual veins are exposed or unearthed by formations can be used for proper cultivation. Everything else was just a temporary solution.

At the end of the road, he saw two middle-aged men guarding an archway, to the left and right were wooden fences with spiritual lines all over them.

"Halt!" one of them shouted while the other stepped forward with the sabre in his hand.

"This is the territory of the Spiritual Beast City! Present your identification token or state your business!"

"Greetings, seniors!" Fengyu stopped where he was and bowed to the two cultivators in the late stage.

"I am a simple rogue cultivator, fleeing from a disaster in the east. I hope to take refuge in the city!"

"We’re not a charity, go away!" one of the cultivators waved his hand, the other still looking menacingly, his tension not easing.

"I heard there is a village here, belonging to the Green Plut Peak... can’t I enter it?" Fengyu asked, hoping for an opening. Once inside, he could find a way to get a token or anything else.

"The village only allows entry for Creation Masters."

Hearing this, Fengyu knew he had a chance.

In this world, cultivators were categorised into those who create things to gain resources, and those who fight for resources.

Creation Masters are all those who master an art of cultivation, such as Planting, Herding, Alchemy, Talismans, Formations, Refining, Sewing and others.

"I am a Herding Master! I raise ducks! Here, this is one of the ducks I raised!" Fengyu pointed at the mandarin duck in his arms, who quacked in response.

He ignored its call and looked hopefully at the two guards.

One of them nodded, signalling to the other to put his weapon away.

"If you’re indeed a duck herder, then you can enter the village. As long as you’re able to pass a simple test, you should get a temporary permit. If you don’t get one, then I recommend you leave the village directly, else you risk getting caught and beaten by us guards!"

"Thank you for your generosity!" Fengyu cupped his hands and walked down the road, past these guards.

When he entered, he directly felt a rush of spiritual power.

’This spiritual power is equivalent to a high-grade first-stage spiritual vein! This means at the bottom of this village, there might even be a top-grade spiritual vein!’

Along the path, he saw several gates to the fields left and right.

To the left, in the distance, he saw two children looking at him. He simply nodded in their direction without halting.

At the end of these fences, he saw another archway, two more guards guarding it. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶

Looking through the archway, he saw a small village!

Huts were lined up left and right, cultivators walking among them.

Two or three hawkers could be seen serving customers.

In the central area, there were some stalls of cultivators.

Behind that, three two-story buildings could be seen.

Indeed, this was a small village, allowing him to see everything at a glance.

The two guards in front asked him about his intention in entering.

Explaining he had been allowed to enter temporarily, they directly pointed to the main building at the end –

"This is the Village Hall, which takes care of everything. Enter it and they will tell you what to do."

He nodded and cupped his hands, entering the village as he was told.

Once inside, he saw that the huts left and right all had plaques with names written on them.

"These are the representative positions of each field and their owner. Inside is a list of things they sell and their prices. You can also leave communication talismans here to directly message them.

Do you need any? I sell them here – one spirit stone for ten talismans!"

One of the hawkers came forward and introduced the huts, assuming he was new since he had never seen him before. At the same time, he directly offered a deal.

"Oh, I have a few. But when I need them again, I will buy them from you" Fengyu cupped his hands then continued forward, not halting for a second longer.

When issues are in front of you, resolutely clear them before you can afford to be distracted!
