Lily Turner didn’t notice at all when Easton Holmes stopped the car, nor did she expect him to suddenly reach over and pull her to him. She instinctively raised her hand to wipe away her tears, but before she could touch her face, she was pulled into his side.
"If you want to cry, just cry out loud. You don’t need to hold back or suppress it in front of me." As he spoke, he pulled her, who was sobbing uncontrollably, into his embrace.
Maybe it’s because of her personality, but after Easton Holmes finished saying those words, Lily Turner didn’t burst into tears, nor did she leave his embrace. She opened her arms and hugged him back.
Her face pressed tightly against his chest, and her arms clutched his clothes forcefully as her tears continued to flow silently.
Easton Holmes looked down at the woman nestled in his arms, instinctively tightening his embrace around her.
Buzz, buzz, buzz!
The phone’s vibration suddenly rang out!
After finishing a call with her sister Alice Turner, Lily Turner hadn’t had the chance to return the phone to Easton Holmes. The sudden vibration in her hand abruptly stopped her tears.
She moved her face slightly away from his chest, wiped her tears with one hand, and lifted the hand holding the phone.
Following her intuition, she raised the phone in front of him.
But Easton Holmes seemed not to hear the phone’s vibration or notice the phone held out in front of him. He continued to look down at her nestled in his arms.
With no one taking the phone from her, Lily Turner thought she hadn’t lifted it high enough and adjusted the position of her hand.

This time, she didn’t stay silent and reminded him quietly as she adjusted her position.
Upon hearing her reminder, Easton Holmes shifted his gaze to the phone in front of him. The screen was facing up, and he immediately saw the caller ID.
The call was from his good friend Benjamin Shaw. He stared at the phone for a moment before reaching out to take the phone she handed him.
Once the owner took the phone, Lily Turner lowered her arm. As soon as she did so, she heard him answering the call.
"What’s up?"
After answering the call, Easton Holmes didn’t greet or exchange any unnecessary words; he directly got to the point.
Benjamin Shaw, on the other end, wasn’t aware of the situation happening on their side. If he’d known something unpleasant had occurred, he certainly wouldn’t have called to bother them.
He called simply to ask Easton Holmes how things went with Christopher Turner at the Turner Family.
"You don’t sound too happy. What happened? Did the talk with your father-in-law not go well?" Even though he didn’t know that something unpleasant had happened that evening, he could hear Easton Holmes speaking in a low tone through the phone.
His remark wasn’t a joke at the expense of his good friend. It stemmed from genuine curiosity and raised many questions for him.
Benjamin Shaw had already figured out what kind of person Christopher Turner was as he prepared for his wedding. In his eyes, his father-in-law was a social climber.
Easton Holmes was a notable figure in Flame City. Father-in-law would surely treat him as a distinguished guest, certainly with far more respect than he had received himself.
The current low mood of his friend seemed completely out of place.
In response to Benjamin Shaw’s inquiry, Easton Holmes merely frowned slightly and had no intention of explaining, "You should focus on your own matters. Stop prying into mine."
