Chapter 565: Chapter 565: If He Really Runs Away, I Can’t Hold Him Back

Sophia Wood said only one sentence to Lily Turner from the moment she entered until she left, and even then it was because Lily had spoken to her first; afterwards, she didn’t even give Lily a proper look.

In response, Lily felt deep resentment toward Sophia, even hatred. She didn’t even get up, letting Sophia leave with Alice Turner without any intention of seeing them off.

"Girl! Where are your mother and sister?"

After giving some instructions to Aunt Li in the kitchen, Callix Linton was about to return to his room. But when he passed the living room door and saw that only Lily was inside, he walked in, puzzled.

Hearing Callix Linton’s voice, Lily snapped out of her daze. She looked up towards the living room door and replied, "My sister had something urgent come up, so they left first."

To make sure that Grandpa Linton wouldn’t doubt her words, she pretended to be relaxed as she spoke.

"I see, I was thinking of having them stay for a meal. I guess it’ll have to wait for next time." Callix, though skeptical of Lily’s explanation, saw her earlier with a troubled expression as she sat with her head down.

Seeing that Callix didn’t question her statement, Lily secretly breathed a sigh of relief. As he walked over, she instinctively moved over to make room for him beside her.

"There will be plenty of opportunities later."

Whether such opportunities would arise again, who could tell? She certainly wasn’t holding on to any hope at this point.

Callix sat down in the spot Lily had vacated for him. "Aunt Li saved some breakfast for you; go and eat something."

He didn’t dwell on their previous topic, instead urging her to go have breakfast.

"I am actually a bit hungry now, Grandpa! You sit here, I’ll go find Aunt Li for some food." Feeling troubled about staying under Callix’s watchful eyes, Lily took this chance to step away.

In her current bad mood, she wasn’t in the frame of mind to handle any questions from Grandpa Linton. After speaking, she promptly got up and left the living room.

After leaving the living room, Lily didn’t head straight to the kitchen to find Aunt Li; instead, she turned towards the bathroom.

Entering the bathroom, the first thing she did was shut the door, making sure it was securely locked, and then she let out a long sigh.

She thought she could quietly calm her emotions in the bathroom, but it wasn’t long before Aunt Li came knocking.

"Lily! Easton is on the phone for you."

As she knocked, Aunt Li loudly called through the door crack.

Wasn’t he supposed to be at the Military Department right now? Why would he call during this time? Could it be...?

Absent any emergencies, Easton Holmes usually didn’t call Lily during work hours. Since it wasn’t even lunch break, Lily figured he must have something important, so she quickly opened the door and left the bathroom. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

She hoped it wasn’t another incident caused by her mother!

Filled with worry and prayerful thoughts, she hurriedly made her way to the living room with quick strides.

"Why the rush? That guy Easton isn’t going anywhere." Seeing Lily striding in briskly, an unwitting Callix chuckled and teased her, thinking she was eager to answer Easton’s call.

Cueing on his remark, Lily blurted out, "If he actually ran away, I couldn’t stop him either."

As those words left her mouth, a sudden sense of desolation rose within her, a feeling so abrupt and inexplicable that it caught her off guard.
