Michael Linton didn’t play games with Easton Holmes. There was no need to hide anything from his nephew, and some things he couldn’t hide even if he wanted to.

His nephew was much more astute than he had anticipated. He was old, and in this regard, he admitted defeat.

Easton Holmes refused Michael Linton and, after that, he walked towards the staircase.

He had just taken two steps when he heard his uncle calling after him, "If anything happens, I’ll call you right away."

His footsteps hesitated for a brief moment, but he didn’t stop.

This subtle little action was keenly caught by Michael Linton. Watching Easton Holmes stride towards the staircase, he turned and left the house.

Upon hearing the door close, Easton Holmes suddenly stopped in his tracks, turned to glance towards the door, and only then slowly headed back upstairs to his room.

Seeing him push the door open and walk in, Lily Turner sat up. Before he even got close, she asked, "What took you so long?"

After Easton Holmes left the room earlier, Lily Turner couldn’t fall asleep anymore. She thought he’d handle the call quickly and come back soon, but no matter how long she waited, he didn’t return.

Thinking back to the call from his father earlier, especially so late at night, she guessed something serious had happened. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been gone for so long without returning.

With worry in her heart, any trace of sleep was gone.

"What’s wrong? Can’t sleep without me?" Easton Holmes came over, sat beside her, wrapped an arm around her, kicked off his slippers, and lay down with her in his arms.

"I’m back now. You’ve got me to hold, so relax and sleep."

The worry on Lily Turner’s face was obvious the moment Easton Holmes walked over, but he pretended not to notice, raising his free hand to wave it in front of her eyes.

The hand suddenly appearing in front of her made Lily Turner close her eyes for a moment. She swatted the hand away, "I’m being serious here, can you stop joking around?"

As she spoke, she gave the man a displeased look.

"Oh, darling! So you want me to be unserious with you? Understood!" Easton Holmes deliberately misinterpreted her words and quickly put them into action. As soon as he finished speaking, his hand slipped under her nightgown.

Since getting pregnant, Easton Holmes had been fairly well-behaved. Though he would hug and kiss sometimes, he had never acted like this before.

Easton Holmes glanced down at that hand, then looked up at its owner with a mischievous grin, "You totally meant that. I’m not making this up."
