Chapter 688: Chapter 688: I Am Doing It on Purpose to Annoy You

Lily Turner ultimately steeled herself and decided not to bring Athena Linton back to her parental home with her. After lunch, she called her mother, Sophia Wood, and they arranged to meet at the Military District Compound entrance.

As she was leaving, she called Easton Holmes, telling him that she would be staying at her family home tonight.

Lily’s decision to visit her family was made spontaneously just before lunch. Easton was completely unaware of it beforehand. When he heard she was going back to her family, as he was about to take a nap, he grabbed his jacket, which he had just taken off, and left the office.

After leaving the office, he drove straight to the Military District Compound entrance. He arrived just in time, as she had only just gotten to the entrance.

Screech!

A sudden screeching of brakes beside her startled Lily. As she turned to see who had scared her, she recognized the car she knew all too well.

"Why are you here?"

Seeing Easton Holmes get out of the car, Lily blurted out a question.

He seemed not to hear her question and walked straight toward her. He stopped half a step away in front of her.

"We are getting married tomorrow. Wouldn’t it be better to stay at home tonight?" Easton looked down at the woman standing in front of him, his eyes unblinkingly and intently fixed on her, his stern face now expressing clear disapproval.

Even though she was a model, standing next to the tall and long-legged Easton, Lily still seemed slightly shorter, especially now that she was pregnant and wearing flat shoes.

She looked up at him, nearly a whole head taller than her, and seeing his serious face, she knew he was upset. "It’s precisely because we’re getting married tomorrow that I need to stay at my family home tonight. Don’t you know that the bride and groom aren’t supposed to see each other the day before the wedding?"

She only knew this because her mom told her; she was unaware of it before.

"We’ve been like an old married couple, so why bother with these old traditions?" Easton, who was never one to follow conventions, scoffed at these traditions. He reached out to pull Lily back, "Come home with me; we can go stay at your family home some other time when we have more time."

Considering her pregnancy, he didn’t dare pull her forcefully.

An old married couple?!

They hadn’t even been married for half a month, had they?

Lily was dissatisfied with Easton’s remark and even more with his attitude. "Did you come here just to drag me back?"

She thought he was there to see her off, but now, getting out of the car, he just wanted to take her back. Had she known it would be like this, she wouldn’t have called him earlier.

"What else?"

Easton answered her question with a rhetorical one, sounding justified.

Seeing him so self-righteous, Lily retorted indignantly, "Then maybe we should just live separately from now on."

She felt she had no freedom at all in front of him now. It was so hard to even visit her own family, especially at this time, and she felt he was being unreasonable.

"Are you joking, or do you mean it?"

Easton leaned closer to her, almost pressing against her. To prevent her from avoiding him, he put one arm around her back, holding her firmly in front of him.

Already dissatisfied with his assertive stance, Lily could hardly bear it any longer as he now pressed her so forcefully. Defiantly, she looked up at him, "I’m deliberately trying to piss you off."
