Chapter 747: Chapter 747: Drunk Today, Bound to Mess Up Tomorrow

Alice Turner made quite a noise when she pushed the door open, and everyone else in the room heard it, so how could Thomas Fisher not have heard? Yet he pretended as if he hadn’t heard anything.

He only glanced at her when she first pushed the door open, then turned his gaze towards Christopher Turner beside him, choosing to ignore her presence and continue chatting with Christopher about topics that made him happy.

It wasn’t until he heard Alice Turner calling for Christopher Turner and Sophia Wood that Thomas Fisher finally moved his gaze away from Christopher and looked towards the door, only to catch a glimpse of her back. A sense of disappointment flashed across his eyes.

Upon hearing that the guests in the other room were leaving, both Christopher Turner and Sophia Wood got up to see them off.

"Thomas! Let’s continue our chat when I get back, wait for me." Christopher Turner patted Thomas Fisher on the shoulder before leaving, asking him to wait for his return to continue their conversation.

Thomas Fisher, not wanting to leave so soon, found Christopher’s proposal quite agreeable and immediately agreed, "Alright! I’ll wait for you, Uncle Chris."

Observing the interaction between Christopher Turner and Thomas Fisher, Isla Lane felt anxious. The situation should originally involve her son, but today there were two other protagonists. She truly worried for her son.

But what use was her silent worry? Her son didn’t even bother to show up, not even on usual days, let alone today. She was truly troubled.

With two seats separating her from Thomas Fisher, Isla Lane noticed that Christopher and Sophia Wood had gone out to escort the guests and would take some time to return. So she got up, walked around the two empty seats, and approached Thomas.

"Thomas! I think you’ve already had quite a bit to drink. If you drink any more, you’ll be drunk. You should go back and rest, otherwise, your parents will worry about you." Isla Lane voiced her concern, urging Thomas to go home, but her true intention was to get him out of there.

She couldn’t just sit by, watching her son and daughter-in-law’s marriage being threatened, and remain silent. She truly couldn’t stand it.

"Aunt Isla! I’m fine, I haven’t actually had much to drink. If you don’t believe me, ask Uncle Alex." Thomas Fisher, accustomed to socializing, had built up quite the tolerance for alcohol. The little he drank today was barely anything to him.

To prove his point, he raised his hand towards Alexander Shaw, sitting on his right, and asked him to confirm, "Uncle Alex! Tell Aunt Isla, haven’t I barely had anything to drink?"

He turned to Alexander Shaw beside him, waiting for Alex to vouch for him.

Just as Alexander Shaw was about to speak, he suddenly noticed Isla Lane giving him a look. Being married for over thirty years, they understood each other well.

From that one look she gave him, he immediately knew what she meant.

"Your tongue is already a bit loose, and you say you haven’t had much to drink? Don’t drink any more. You have to help Easton with important matters tomorrow, and if you’re drunk today, you’ll mess things up tomorrow." Alexander Shaw understood what Isla Lane was worried about, although he wasn’t as anxious as she was. He knew in his heart that the problem lay on their son’s end.

If their son didn’t understand how to cherish things, nothing parents could do would help. After all, living life is up to the young couple themselves, and as parents, they couldn’t interfere too much, otherwise, it would backfire.
