Chapter 769: Chapter 769: It Seems Like My Husband Has Been Kidnapped

Michael Linton’s recent call ended Amelia Linton’s aimless daze. She brushed her hair out of her face with her hand and took a deep breath, quickly calming her irritated mood.

Amelia picked up the phone, hesitated while staring at it, but eventually dialed Fabian’s number.

"Sorry! The number you are trying to reach is currently outside the service area..."

Just as she placed the phone to her ear, she heard the message that the other person’s phone was outside the service area.

Without giving it much thought, Amelia dialed again, but heard the same message—the number was still outside the service area. She called several more times with the same result.

After repeatedly failing to reach Fabian, Amelia belatedly realized that he might have blacklisted her number. The thought of being blacklisted ignited a surge of anger within her.

She picked up the phone again and directly called the police.

"Hello! You..."

"Hi! I think my husband has been kidnapped. I just called him, and he only managed to say ’help me’ before the line went dead. Now, I can’t get through at all." 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶

The dispatcher barely managed to start speaking before Amelia interrupted, purposely sounding extremely anxious to fit the narrative she was about to spin.

At that moment, all she cared about was venting her anger and causing trouble for Fabian. She was completely oblivious to the fact that making a false police report is illegal, and she even went so far as to give Fabian’s phone number to the dispatcher, asking them to contact him.

After receiving the call, the dispatcher immediately dialed the number provided by Amelia.

When Fabian received the call from the dispatcher, he was in his office reading a financial magazine. Seeing that the call was from the police, he thought he was seeing things.

He frowned, puzzled, as he answered the phone, "Hello! Good day!"

Though unsure of why he was receiving such a call, he politely greeted them.

"Hello! Are you Mr. Fabian Holmes?" The dispatcher was also very polite and asked courteously.

Fabian instinctively nodded, "I am. May I ask why you’re calling me?"

Knowing his name meant something must have happened.

"Your wife just reported that you were kidnapped, she..."

"What?! I’ve been kidnapped?!"

The dispatcher’s words left Fabian both shocked and extremely angry. He could think of many reasons why the police might call him, but he never expected this to be the reason.

Hearing this, the experienced dispatcher immediately understood that the woman had filed a false report; the reason was likely a marital spat.

"You have not been kidnapped, correct?"

Although the dispatcher had already guessed the real situation, he still asked for confirmation to ensure his assumption was correct.

After all, such matters cannot be decided solely on assumptions; confirmation needed to come directly from those involved.

Fabian was very angry at the moment, but he couldn’t just remain angry; he had to deal with the aftermath. "I’m sorry, I had a fight with my wife and left. My wife called you because she’s mad at me and said I was kidnapped."

That woman was getting more and more ridiculous. How could she dare to do something like making a false police report? She’s clearly been too comfortable for too long, trying to stir up drama.

She’s driving me insane!
