Chapter 871: Chapter 871: I Didn’t Mean to Be Late

"No way!"

Benjamin Shaw replied curtly with three words, shaking Alice Turner’s hand off his arm. He opened the car door, ready to get in, but she quickly blocked the door before him.

Alice Turner spread her arms wide, halting Benjamin Shaw who was about to get into the car. Was he that busy? Busy enough to find time for other women? Who was he trying to fool?

She saw it as him deliberately making things difficult for her, and she couldn’t let him succeed. Today, she was determined to get this divorce, otherwise in the future, who knows how much more he’d trouble her.

"Alice Turner! Move aside!"

Benjamin Shaw had never looked kindly on Alice Turner, and now seeing her block his way to the car, he disliked her even more. He reached out to pull her away from the door.

Alice Turner shook her head without thinking, "I won’t move, unless you agree to go in and handle the paperwork."

She was dead set on not moving until the divorce was finalized, not losing an ounce of momentum to the man in front of her.

"Move!"

Benjamin Shaw was in a hurry to get things done, not willing to give in to Alice Turner’s stubbornness. He grabbed her arm and tried to pull her aside.

"Ah!"

In the desperation of the moment, Alice Turner instinctively used both hands to hold onto Benjamin Shaw to stop him from leaving, but she forgot about the injury on her left hand. It wasn’t until she felt the pain that she remembered her hand was hurt.

Upon hearing Alice Turner’s cry of pain, Benjamin Shaw’s first thought was that she was pretending. But when he saw the pained expression on her face, he was suddenly taken aback, "What happened to you?"

He frowned, looking at her with concern.

"I’m begging you, please? Just give me a few minutes." Alice Turner withdrew her injured hand, not naive enough to use her injury to gain the man’s sympathy. This man had never shown her any sympathy; she wouldn’t humiliate herself by expecting it now.

Benjamin Shaw noticed her withdrawing one hand, but he hadn’t realized it was injured. At the moment, all he saw was the urgency on her face.

"Since you’re so eager to divorce me, why didn’t you come here earlier?" His questioning tone carried a hint of unnoticeable anger, and his expression looked less than pleased.

"I had a small accident leaving home this morning. I’m not intentionally late. I’m telling you the truth. I’m not lying to you." Alice Turner’s explanation was sincere and formal. She just hoped the man in front of her would believe her and agree to handle the paperwork.

Benjamin Shaw, however, thought all of this was just her excuse for being late. Without a good attitude, he pulled her away from the car door, not even sparing her a glance as he got into the car. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

He shut the car door and hit the central lock, leaving her completely outside.

Starting the engine, he quickly drove away. In the rearview mirror, he saw her angrily punching the air in the direction of his car.

Seeing this scene, a barely noticeable smile appeared on Benjamin Shaw’s lips. Stepping on the gas, he drove further away from the far-off figure waving a fist at him.

Huh?

How did bloodstains get on my sleeve?

While waiting at the traffic light, Benjamin Shaw tilted his head inadvertently and saw a noticeable bloodstain on his sleeve. He touched it with his hand, and the stain was still wet.

"I had a small accident leaving home this morning. I’m not intentionally late..."

Suddenly, Alice Turner’s words echoed in his ears again. It turns out she truly had a little accident; she hadn’t been intentionally making an excuse to deceive him.
