Re-awakening: From mortal to godhood-Chapter 30: SETTING OUT
Levi was about to sleep when an alert came from Vera, notifying him of a person outside his door.
’I am not expecting anyone,’ he thought silently as he jumped down from his bed. As he stepped out, his gaze reached the stairs that felt almost endless. A thought struck his mind, and he did not think twice before doing it.
His form flashed across the room, appearing just over the empty gap between the rails. Before he could even float, gravity asserted dominance, plummeting his body to the floor. Mere inches away from the floor, he disappeared again, appearing in front of the door.
A smile formed on his lips. There were countless ways he could have gone downstairs, with most even faster than this method. But he chose this one for the thrill.
Calmly, he opened the door.
In front of the door was a woman, calm and aloof. She wore a red, silk dress that stopped just above her knees. Her crimson eyes were striking, matching her blue hair effortlessly. She scrutinised Levi from top to bottom, making him feel shivers under his white pyjamas.
"I am here to treat your arm," she said with an irresistible allure in her tone.
Levi’s face shrank. He had indeed forgotten that his arm was no longer there. Having replaced it with Nanites and dulled the pain, there was no difference to him anymore.
’Having infinite mana sure is really convenient,’ he thought.
The woman also looked at his arm, clearly surprised. ’How large are his mana reserves?’ But it did not show in her expression. Her face remained as stoic as before.
With a thought, the nanites dissolved into a mist of grey that entered Levi’s body.
The woman raised her hand calmly. Her wings unfurled behind her, white, pristine, and feathery. A green glow emanated from her hand, covering Levi’s hand. There was no reaction; the wound was still the same.
Until a white light covered the green glow again. Levi’s hand began to grow at a rapid pace. Flesh, blood, muscles and bones began to grow from nothing until his hand was fully healed.
Without a word, she disappeared.
’Why does it seem like a trend among the teachers?’ Levi mused silently. Everyone he had met today was either disappearing without words or making him disappear without words.
He shut the door behind him and appeared in his room, on his bed directly.
His eyes shut, and he drifted far into sleep.
In a place where space seemed to crack continuously, as if it could not bear the weight on it. Time could not even move or function properly.
Two beings sat beside each other, quiet and observant as they gazed at the man who knelt on one knee to them.
"Henry, what do you want?" One of the men asked the kneeling man.
Henry raised his head slightly, but not enough to meet the man’s gaze. He dared not gaze upon such a terrifying person.
"Master Kaelith, the situation has been getting worse lately. The demons seem to have gotten stronger since the birth of their 3 chosen ones," he said, his voice low and respectful.
"What do you want from us?" The other man asked, his voice thundering through the entire place. The already cracking space broke completely from his voice, but it stitched back as Kaelith waved his palm.
Henry shuddered under the terrifying might. "Assistance on the main battlefield," he replied, his voice strained.
For a millisecond, silence reigned. To beings like them, milliseconds were like hours.
"Vaelric, how about sending 3 warriors each?" Kaelith asked the man beside him.
"Why are we the only ones contributing? What about the others?" Vaelric asked directly.
"You also know they might not agree. Why should we try?" Kaelith asked.
The banter continued, with Henry facing down through it all. He dared not speak out of turn here.
Finally, they stopped.
"Fine, I will send 3 people too, but you have to pay me," Vaelric said to Kaelith.
Kaelith nodded before turning back to Henry. "We will send support in 3 days. You may leave." With that, space broke completely, fracturing like a web over glass.
Henry fell into his office again, appearing in the chair. He closed his eyes. "Thank you, Master Kaelith," he muttered as the image of his master surfaced.
He also knew that if he had not involved Kaelith, his chances of getting support were slim to none. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"He has accepted the mission, and Emilia has treated his injury," he muttered.
The night passed without anything else happening.
The morning sun filtered through the glass, showering Levi in its golden, ethereal light. His hand moved slowly, covering his eyes from the rays.
Slowly, his eyes fluttered open, his silver eyes gazing at the world.
He yawned loudly with a stretch before sitting upright, his back resting against the headboard.
[Good morning, Master Levi,] Max greeted.
’Good morning, Max,’ He replied. ’You too, Vera.’
He stepped out of the bed and walked directly to the bathroom.
He came out shortly after, his white towel wrapped around his body. Water rolled down his chin in slow drops.
He walked to the wardrobe and scanned through the clothes that were neatly arranged there. He picked a simple blue shirt and a black jeans, wore them swiftly, and headed directly for the sitting room.
"Vera, order my food," he said.
After giving the order, he turned back to his assistant. ’Open the Imperial Interface,’ he said mentally.
There had been no instructions about how to meet with his teammate or recognise them.
As if knowing what he wanted to ask, a direct message came from the overseer again.
[Someone will come to pick you up at 8:00 am, get ready.]
He read it, then closed the interface.
’Max, what does the time say?’ he asked with a thought.
[7:47, master Levi.]
Levi nodded. Then a smile formed on his lips as the thought of exploring filled his mind.
He had always been within walls since his birth, the only exception being the day he came to the academy. But even that one, he could only look at the outside world from the windows of a drifter.
"I wonder how it will be," he muttered.
Time flew by, he ate his meal, and soon after, he was taken to the rendezvous point.
