Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 22: Cursed Ring and Elite Monster
Chapter 22 - Cursed Ring and Elite Monster
<+3443 Trell Acquired>
<+400 Trell Bonus>
Rael let out a sigh, just barely hiding the grin that had formed on his face.
The mace was definitely a good choice, and now he had become much, much stronger than before.
And, of course, richer.

Sadly, he couldn't do much with that amount of money yet—aside from increasing his stats, of course.
Instead, Rael wanted to buy some better gear.
The best option was obviously to go for a pair of leggings or a helmet.
However, he had something a bit different in mind.

• The Forsaken Ring (Uncommon): 3000 Trell
• Ring of the Hollow King (Cursed-Rare): 4500 Trell
Oh boy... My wallet is going to be... Hm? Rael looked through the options and eventually landed on the bottom-most one.
It was the first Rare item he had seen—and one for so cheap at that.
But there was a small problem. It was cursed.
—Ring of the Hollow King (Cursed-Rare)
+30 Strength
+30 Agility
+100 Constitution
+50 Intelligence
+50 Wisdom
Curse: [King's Bargain] → At any point, the wearer can choose to give up the ring in exchange for one guaranteed Epic rarity item. However, the wearer will become the target of the Hollow King's eternal pursuit.
If only it were a Hollow Queen... Rael trailed off before swiftly snapping back into focus. Right. It's a good item, and the stats are more than lucrative. The problem is, I have no idea who the Hollow King is.
As greedy as he was, he also didn't want to get killed.
But that was the catch—if he never took the deal, then the curse wouldn't even activate.
So I can just throw the ring into a ditch... Or get a player to take the deal and steal the Epic rarity item.
Safe to say, he was getting that ring.
Therefore, with a mere press of a button, he became broke again—while at the same time gaining an immense amount of stats.
And it showed.

Health Points (HP): [13,900/13,900] → [23,900/23,900]
Mana Points (MP): [2,000/2,000] → [7,000/7,000]
Strength: 60 (+35) → 90 (+65)
Agility: 82 (+50) → 112 (+80)

Movement Speed Increase: 56% (+15%) → 71% (+15%)
Critical Hit Damage Increase: 4% (+1%) → 6.5% (+1%)
Yep... Rael did some quick calculations inside his mind.
If he were to use his sword, his maximum per-hit damage was now a whopping 662.
In exchange? He simply had to not press the giant, definitely-not-lucrative button to consume the curse.
Easy.
However, despite getting stronger, he was still only at the start of the maze. Therefore, he had to get a move on.
Rael walked along the walls, in whichever direction seemed to make the walls extend outward.
But it got him thinking.
This was a level 25–40 difficulty quest, so where were the strong monsters?
So far, so go—
His words were cut off by him stepping onto some sort of pressure plate.
Rael instinctively took a step backward, narrowly dodging a pike that shot out of the left wall.
Okay... Now that's going to be a bit of a problem, he grumbled inwardly before checking between two of his options.

• Dungeon Map [One-Time Use] (Common): 1000 Trell
• Trap Detection [Skill] (Common): 1500 Trell
While he couldn't afford either of them, the Dungeon Map item seemed pretty worth it in this scenario.
Therefore, Rael proceeded to make his way carefully through the maze, occasionally stepping on a trap.
However, as if by sheer reflex, he always managed to dodge.
Until he didn't.
[HP -900! 23,000/23,900]
He narrowly avoided the attack, yet it still dealt 900 damage to him.
I'd be fucked if I hadn't become a rare boss monster. Rael let out a relieved sigh before finally encountering a group of monsters.
Five in total, with one of them dressed in a black robe.
—Skeleton Warrior (x2) [Level 20] [2100/2100 HP]
—Skeleton Archer (x2) [Level 20] [2100/2100 HP]
—Skeleton Fire Mage (Rare Elite) [Level 25] [16,250/16,250 HP]
Well shit. Rael grumbled.
Even with his mace, he would not be able to kill that mage in an instant.
But the amount of EXP and money it would give would simply be overwhelming.
Steeling his resolve, Rael threw a rock at the wall, distracting both the Warriors and the Archers.
Giving bows to blind skeletons wasn't a great idea.
But oh well.

Free experience was free experience.
However, as he lifted his mace from the broken bones of the Skeleton Archers, a massive fireball appeared in his sight.
You've got to be kidding me. Rael straightened his back and suddenly pulled out his sword.
The fireball was soon released, scorching the bones of the nearby skeletons as it traveled directly at Rael.
Since he had no way to dodge, Rael swung his sword down in an attempt to slice the fireball in half.

However, all that managed to do was make it miss his face.
As for the rest of his body...
[HP -7521! 15,479/23,900]
[HP -500! 14,979/23,900]
That took a third of my HP in a single hit, jeez. Rael let out a pained groan, trying his best to keep it together despite the searing pain.
He noticed the Skeleton Fire Mage beginning to cast again. Therefore, he dashed toward it.
However, Rael encountered two Skeleton Warriors, narrowly dodging them before caving in their skulls with his mace.

The Skeleton Fire Mage seemed startled by the close proximity, and before it could finish casting, Rael swung the mace directly at its head.
-5500! Critical Hit!
It was sent tumbling down to the ground face-first, its black robe ripping against the floor.
But just as Rael was about to swing down again, the mace in his hand suddenly trembled before falling into pieces.

Rael glanced between the system interface and the Skeleton Fire Mage lying on the ground, staring vaguely at him, puzzled.
Yet the confusion didn't last long, as it soon began casting a massive fireball.
With shaky hands, Rael reached into the Premium Shop and bought himself another Basic Steel Mace, gripping it tightly.
"You made me waste money, you bony fuck."
He dashed in, slid under the massive fireball, and landed behind the Skeleton Fire Mage, thwacking it over the head with the mace again.
-5500! Critical Hit!
With one more hit remaining, Rael confidently threw the mace at the Skeleton Fire Mage's torso, splitting it in two.
-5500! Critical Hit!
Rael let out a sigh. Since it was only a mage, it was way too easy to deal with.
Soon, the system messages began appearing one by one, showcasing the unreal amount of experience and money he got from a single monster.
But there was one message in particular that stood out.
—Basic Steel Mace (Uncommon)

Bruh.
