Re-Awakening: I Became a Pay To Win Boss Monster-Chapter 348: Kingdom Building For Dummies
Chapter 348: Kingdom Building For Dummies
<Nyzarra Vorrakai: What...? What’s the occasion? Where are you? Which village?>
Rael rolled his eyes.
<Rael Sutekh: The one which is currently on fire. I’d suggest you make your way here. They don’t seem to know how to put out fires so much as light them.>
With that, he closed the chatroom and stepped into the village.
He had retracted his mosquito wings as he felt slightly embarrassed having them out.
"Soo... we’re waiting for their chieftain?" Lilith mused. "Are you going to go the straightforward route, or will you do the same as you did with me?"
Rael tilted his head. "I’ll be straightforward. Why?"
A faint smile appeared on Lilith’s face as she raised two fingers. "Well... there are two methods to become a chieftain."
"The first method: defeat the current chieftain in a duel."
Pretty straightforward. Rael nodded, listening to the second method.
But judging by how much her grin had grown, he had a feeling he knew where this was going.
"The second method is, you need to sleep with—"
Rael coughed, interrupting her words. "I’m not doing that. I’ll just fight her if need be."
Lilith shrugged innocently and approached one of the burning tents.
She swatted her hand toward it, and in the next instant, half of the flames plaguing the village dispersed.
"I still can’t wrap my head around these powers," Lilith muttered. "I can grow infinitely stronger by fighting. Apparently, I get bonus stats for every critical hit I land. There’s also the Fear stat."
"You have a Fear stat?" Rael said with a raised brow. "Though I assume that’s not all you got from such a strong bloodline."
"Of course not," Lilith replied with a slight smile. "Since it’s compatible with me, extremely so, I will be able to make the most out of it."
Compatibility, huh? I guess I am compatible with the Supreme Beast’s bloodline... maybe?
He didn’t know how to measure compatibility, but since it was given to him as a gift and he had so many clues tying him to the Supreme Beast, he was sure that he wasn’t that far off.
Nevertheless, the two chatted and helped the barbarians put out the fires. After a few minutes, he saw Nyzzara sprinting in, her expression glum.
She approached, stopping right in front of them.
"Thank you for telling me about this... you see... I made some changes recently, and it seems like a few people weren’t happy about them," Nyzzara said sheepishly.
Rael tilted his head. "What kind of changes would make someone go out of their way to kill and burn down villages?"
Nyzzara sighed and raised both her hands. "I allowed outsiders into Ogarak."
"...?"
"You mean you barbarians are finally done with the inclusivity? Hah, that’s surprising," Lilith remarked with a giggle. "What else? Did you change the chieftain succession rules?"
Upon not getting an answer, Lilith’s brows twitched. "Did you really...?"
Nyzzara nodded. "I removed the marks that separated us, so we’re all equal now. But since the marks are gone, that means the only thing that separated me, the chieftain, from the common barbarians has vanished as well."
She let out a slight chuckle. "So in short, I’m screwed. If I didn’t go through with the changes, then there would be no fights going on. Because as it stands, I think my people are going to fight each other to the death... I’m not going to wait until tomorrow."
She’s like a completely different person. If this was any other day, she would’ve cussed me out already.
"I see..." Rael replied slowly. "The only reason I came here was to take over Ogarak. Rather, I’d like it if you willingly gave it to me."
With that, he recited the same story he had told Lilith about his passive money gain, and after he was done, a deathly silence ensued.
"And if I refuse?" Nyzzara asked plainly. "Are you going to kill me?"
Rael stared at her for a few moments, then leaned in slightly.
"Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that, Nyzzara."
He puffed his chest. "In exchange for you handing over Ogarak, I will unite all these barbarians and give them a purpose. Plus, you won’t have to worry about them killing each other because they’ll be afraid I’ll kill them instead."
It was a coincidence that she had messed up, but it was a pleasant coincidence.
After all, he knew the type of person Nyzzara was.
She was someone who respected the people’s opinions. But in the end, she was also someone who wanted to return Ogarak to its former glory.
But this sudden change did the opposite. It alienated the barbarians, and by removing the marks, she set up the false pretense of equality.
Oh well... I guess I’ll just wait for—
"Can you really fix everything?" Nyzzara asked in a serious tone, her exhaustion practically showing.
"I stand by my word," Rael assured her. "And in the end, what do you have to lose? You can still act as the leader, only without the extra money."
"About that..." Nyzzara scratched her cheek. "I established a food trade with the Holy Kingdom."
"Pfft..." Lilith held back a laugh, nearly choking. "You really bit off more than you could chew, eh? Hahaha..."
Rael rolled his eyes and patted Nyzzara’s shoulder.
"Cancel the trade. There should be a month-long period where you can cancel such arrangements without paying a price. But that’s only if you’ve not gotten anything from them... you got something from them, didn’t you?"
"..."
"I thought you said you weren’t an idiot," Rael recalled with a sigh.
Nyzzara’s brows twitched. "I’m not stupid... I just wanted to make things better. I read a few books, and they all said what I did was the right course of action... in the long run anyway."
"Books...?" Rael mumbled. "You got them from the Holy Kingdom, right?"
"I bought a few secretly while out on a stroll," Nyzzara replied shyly.
"These books that said what you did was a good idea, what are they called exactly?" Rael asked, his brow twitching.
"The name is, um... here." Nyzzara pulled one of the books out, holding it out toward him.
And that was when his sanity finally snapped.
Kingdom Building for Dummies...?
Rael glanced at the innocent-looking Nyzzara.
Was I right in the head when I left this woman in charge...?
