Re: Elf Prince—A Degenerate's Second Chance-Chapter 49. Ice Fang Dagger
49. Ice Fang Dagger
Standing before the floating dagger Eryndor admired it’s design, there was barely any engraving or design making it look any bit sophisticated but he loved it that way. He felt a sense of ownership over it. Unable to hold back his interest in the blade Eryndor stretched out his hand and took hold of the blade and felt the strangest sensation.
As he took hold of the blades grip his hand sank into it like a marshmallow, the tighter he gripped it the harder it would become. It was a bit cool to the grip, Eryndor had not practiced with daggers before so he knew it would take some getting used to. But he noticed something strange about the blade, he could not tell it it was construct like that on purpose of by chance but he acknowledged it immediately he had taken hold of the ice gang dagger.
It’s still maintained it’s soft texture no matter how hard he gripped the handle, this meant it would not hurt him if he used it in a prolonged battle. It was also cool to the touch meaning that it would not cause any unnecessary harm to the skin. Despite being a weapon of the lowest rank Eryndor approved it’s versitility and durability as well as it’s comfortability. It would make battles much more easier while reducing the damage to the arm.
"It’s so weak yet so appealing." He could not help but say.
["Why don’t you try it?
I can sense how much you wanna hold it"]
Eryndor was indeed tempted to give it a few swings but he gave himself a moment of paused and thought for a while before saying out loud. "While this is good and all I do wonder. While I’m here does time pause in the real world or is it still the same progression."
The voice of his proud master game with a dark chuckle.
["Ohoho. This is a marvel, how is it that the degenerate prince is so thoughtful about these things?
I always thought you were half dumb"]
Eryndor dismissed his master’s words and said. "I might be a novice at everything but once I learn something I build on it. I need to know if time progresses the same way, I can’t be here safe in this soul— void knowing my body could freeze out there or worse be eaten by an ice serpent it something."
His master’s voice seemed to be taken back by the seriousness of his disciple’s voice so for the first time he spoke with a bit of respect.
["Despite you impressive line of faults it’s amusing to see you showing such foresight. I guess in this regard you are quite similar to HIM!"]
Eryndor still holding unto the ice fang dagger poured all his willpower into willing himself out of the world of blackness. One second he was in the endless void of blackness and the next he was back in the small cave. He could hear the light whistling of wind coming from the entrance, he regretted coming back as all the injuries from before sent pain pulsing as one causing him to wince.
He sat up and felt something in his hand, it was the ice fang blade, somehow he had managed to come back with it. He was happy to have a weapon he could summon at will, it would be his ace in the hole.
["You’re lucky brat I can see the enchantments of magical items with my well trained eye. Why not I lend you that sight?"]
Eryndor did not say nothing, he just stared at the blade not even feeling a shift in his left eye. After a while he willed the legacy’s information on the blade to appear once more and it did, materialising in thin air:
[Items: Ice Fang Dagger
Item Rank: Normal
Item Rank: They say the fangs of a true ice serpent carries a paralysing chill]
These were the previous information the only thing different was the addition segment. It materialised only a second later and drew an alremed look of the young elf’s face.
[Item Enchantments:
"Paralysis": the sorrowful tears of the ice serpent will slow down it’s prey by your will
Special Enchantment: None]
"Without this I could know the secret features of any item I acquired in future. This is truly— remarkable." Eryndor could not help but say.
His master felt the need to barge so he did as he felt fit.
["And you said my golden eye was useless, now who’s useless?"]
Eryndor did not bother to answer that, he had to think of his priorities at the moment. He was wounded and hurt, he needed to dress his wounds but his supplies were still in the remains of the dead ice serpent but he could not dare risk his life for them. What was his next priority, the night was drawing nearer and if anything he had learned on the mountain had taught him anything it was that the night on the icy mountains were the coldest always prone to cold winds and also night predators.
Eryndor chose to keep consuming the two beast cores of the ice serpents he had killed till later, he moved as nimbly as his body could allowbl and collected as many of the small twigs as he could find creating a large enough pile to make a fire warm enough to keep himself safe. He also managed to stumble upon a hare he managed to kill and take back to the cave.
As night began to roll in the young elf prince used his flame magic to ignite the bundle of wood, he hated that he could not find a covering for the cave. He did not want to be attacked by a powerful beast while he slept so he chose not to sleep and keep watching through the night. He roasted the hare over the flame and waited for the crisp smell of burnt meat to make his glands water in it’s savoury smell before digging in. He had a feeling that it would be better to be full before consuming the beast cores after all if he thought of it like a drug, the doctor always prescribed it with meals.
After he had finished his meal he took out the two orbs and gulped them down one at a time, it might have not been adviced but he preferred to have it done with. He felt a huge noise in energy as he gulped them down as well as the congratulatory message if the legacy. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
