Re: Strongest Necromancer with the Extraction Talent-Chapter 40: Preparation
Chapter 40: Preparation
When Kai looked at Elias and his father, who were interacting casually, he felt confused, having no idea what had just happened.
He didn’t even know how Elias had fully regained consciousness as if he had just been reborn.
’Is this the effect of binding to the Undead Space?’ Kai thought, guessing that this was just one of many effects he had yet to discover.
As Kai let the father and son have their moment, the tiger cub grew impatient and became annoyed that they spent too much time just for the sake of resurrecting one person.
He slapped his tail in annoyance as he looked in the Fire Lion’s direction.
Bam!
The Fire Lion’s head was slammed into the ground out of nowhere.
Roar!
It immediately sprang up and roared, unable to understand where the attack had come from.
It had been lying lazily, watching its subordinates prepare for battle, when something suddenly struck its head.
The roar reverberated in the surroundings, and the people inside the town immediately became restless.
Kai tilted his head and frowned for a second before looking at Elias and his father. "Let’s go. There’s no time for such a reunion right now."
Subsequently, all of the Awakeners from the town gathered near the main gate. Except for the 1st Echelon Awakeners, no one else yet knew of Elias’s rebirth.
Elias wore a white mask, standing beside Kai while looking at him with a complicated expression.
Kai ignored him as he looked at the town chief and stretched his hand. "Give me the mana potions first."
The town chief nodded his head and handed him a few dozen 1st Echelon Mana Potions.
Kai naturally accepted them happily since he was broke at the moment. He didn’t even have a single unranked mana potion, let alone the 1st Echelon ones.
"Good, now let’s proceed with our plan and end this battle as soon as possible." Kai nodded and used his [Skeleton Armor] skills on all of the 1st Echelon Awakeners.
However, after Kai had enveloped only about twenty people in Skeleton Armor, he felt his mana about to run dry.
He had expected not to cover everyone as the skill’s rank wasn’t as high as his healing skill, and he suspected that even if they eventually reached the same rank, their mana costs would remain different.
He then quickly drank one of the mana potions while looking at the distance, hoping that the fight wouldn’t start too soon because he needed to replenish his mana first too.
But the moment he drank the 1st Echelon mana potions, he was surprised when he felt that his mana was instantly filled without needing to wait for the process of absorption.
Usually, when it came to the mana potions made by alchemists, the process wasn’t as instant as the one being given as the reward by the system.
Kai was sure that the mana potions given by the town chief were bought from an alchemist, as he had asked this before since he also needed to calculate the timing between filling his mana and using them in the battle later.
That’s why he gulped the entire mana potion at once, as he wanted to use quantity to hasten the absorption process and let some of them go to waste.
Sensing that there were still some leftovers from the mana potions inside his body, Kai immediately continued using his [skeleton armor] on the remaining 20 1st Echelon Awakeners.
Afterward, he noted some mana left and quickly worked out how many more potions he would need to top himself off.
A brief calculation told him he had roughly 20 % mana remaining. It seemed each 1st Echelon potion could replenish 120 % of his pool.
Subsequently, Kai drank another one as he took out his first undead goblin and the goblin commander. Kai had left all of his undead goblins except the goblin commander and his first undead goblin.
He then used his [Skeleton Armor] skill on Elias, Goblin Commander, the first undead goblin, and himself. He also silently reinforced the town chief’s skeleton armor.
While he was at it, Kai drank another two mana potions as he used more than two full of his mana to make them.
Afterwards, he waved his hand, causing every Skeleton Armor to turn illusory and invisible—as though it wasn’t there at all.
Everyone was taken aback but remained silent. Even seeing Kai absorb potions instantly, they could only watch in astonishment and admire him as no one had ever heard of such a feat.
Kai exhaled deeply, then finally looked at everyone with a nod. "Let’s go."
They left the town, advancing for a while before Kai halted as he could finally sense how many beasts awaited them.
"There are fifty-two 1st Echelon Beasts, but most aren’t that strong. We should be able to wrap up the 1st Echelon side. As for those below 1st Echelon, they outnumber us, but you just need to hold them off and not get killed in one blow," Kai spoke calmly, tracking the beasts’ life energy from afar.
Before the battle began, Kai reinforced several 1st Echelon Awakeners who would each face two beasts at once. He had already shared the beasts’ positions to prevent any 1st Echelon monster from running rampant among the lower ranks.
Kai also had reminded everyone that the skeletons were on their side because he would resurrect every beast in this battle in the skeletons’ form so that they could distinguish clearly which ones were the enemy.
Otherwise, they might get startled and become distracted when suddenly another beast was charging at them, even though it was to help.
Afterwards, they charged slowly with Kai and Elias at the front while the others followed behind them according to their strength.
When they almost arrived at an open field, Kai waved his hand as he ordered Elias to kill a few beasts at the edge of the field.
As Elias made a move and killed a level 38 1st Echelon Tiger and a few beasts below 1st Echelon Rank at an extremely fast speed, Kai and the others arrived at a huge open field.
Subsequently, his gaze focused on the Fire Lion, who seemed to be wary, looking around vigilantly. The other beasts around also seemed to be on alert as they surrounded the fire lion and looked around too.
Kai then checked the fire lion’s stats and immediately frowned before turning to Elias with a serious expression.
"Are you sure the lion was only about ten percent stronger than you?"
Kai asked this because when he checked the lion’s stats, he was taken aback since its stats were higher than he had guessed.
He had assumed the lion’s stats were around 1,100 at most and thought that this shouldn’t be too hard for Elias to kill it, but he was wrong!
Sigh!
’What’s our win rate at this point?’
’10%?’
’15%?’
’20%?’
Kai smiled bitterly, wishing their odds were even that high.
Originally, Kai thought that his chance would be around 50% if there was nothing wrong with anything, but now, since the lion seemed to be much stronger than before, he wasn’t that confident anymore.
