Re: Timeless Apocalypse-Chapter 72: Pioneer(II)
His ivory eyes shone brightly, a potent fierceness and tenacity pouring out of them, blanketing their surroundings.
His hands extended and his palm opened just as the egg on his lap burned to ashes. Upon his palm, a small, tiny spark of light appeared—ridiculously minute, yet of such heat that Ayah could feel the floor beneath her begin to melt.
Yet just like before, Uriel’s aura towered, and he pulled the heat back, nulling it into the void.
He stared at her. "Your turn." His voice was incredibly strained.
Of their plan, Uriel’s task was to find a way to pull out the egg’s Spark, then stabilize and maintain it long enough for them to confirm his theory.
Then came Ayah’s part.
She got to work instantly.
Unlike Enoch, Ayah understood her class almost perfectly, for the simple reason that it was born out of her witnessing the truest form of her Natal Spark.
On the other hand, Enoch’s class was also born from his Natal Spark, but he hadn’t witnessed its true form like she had—and worse of all... Lie Eater wasn’t Enoch’s natal spark.
Until he awakened it, his class would be limited, and he’d be forced to wade through the dark to understand it.
Ayah didn’t have any such issues. In fact, it was almost too easy.
From it, she’d gained what were called Path Abilities, but also Class Talents.
In this instance, what mattered were her Class Talents, and what she could do with them. By combining and using them in tandem, she could perform miracles.
She could shape any and all things into beasts she could contract or use as a summoning template—but more importantly, she could pull out the greatest potential from any newly created creature.
Say she shaped a contracted beast from the essence of a sword. Down the line, with enough effort and understanding of the sword, she could evolve this newly created beast into a creature on par with the dragons and phoenixes of old.
Her class held such potential that her future prospects left her shivering with excitement at all moments, and this was only the tip of the iceberg.
Her gaze sharpened.
Atop her head, a crown of gold manifested, and from her core, dozens of bronze chains emerged, so thin they might as well have been strings.
Weaving her hands through the air, she began her work, Uriel moving in tandem with her, stretching his mind to catalyze atmospheric aether into her core, making sure she’d never run out.
Simultaneously, he cast dozens of analysis, inspection, and buff spells on both of them, pushing their efficiency through the roof.
A long, long process began.
....
Enoch shivered in excitement.
Hours had passed—no, an entire day and a half had passed, Uriel and Ayah working tirelessly, not taking any breaks, only picking up pace as each second went by.
Uriel coughed up mouthfuls of blood more than once, his body soaked in sweat and his face pale, trembling and weak, but his gaze burned with unmatched focus and obsession.
Ayah, too, was just as exhausted, her fingers bloodied and her core so stretched that it physically ached, the very fabric of her class waning from overuse, as did her mind under the strain of countless calculations, despite Uriel’s buffs.
They failed many times, having to start again and again, Uriel forced each time to stabilize the Spark, stopping it from collapsing.
At some point, the two of them even began communicating through a mental channel Uriel had established, and he started helping her directly through the process.
But they held on, and...
’...it’s done...’
Night had fallen. Heavy rain beat down behind the house, the darkness thick and oppressive. No lights were on, yet in the dark living room, a faint glow illuminated them.
There, floating between Uriel and Ayah, a small crystal ruby could be seen, no larger than a nail, its surface covered in complex dark runes.
Ayah looked at the ruby, tears welling in her eyes, her bloody smile wide. Uriel smiled too, chuckling in utter exhaustion.
"The final... step," Uriel whispered, his body at its absolute limit.
Ayah swallowed hard, her lips dry.
Her now-dull, hovering crown of gold shone once more, and her thin chains slowly swam through the air, making contact with the ruby.
The ruby shuddered, and Uriel felt his breath hitch just as Ayah felt her stomach churn in fear.
But nothing else happened.
Shakily, Uriel exhaled in relief.
Ayah’s chains trembled and—
Enoch held his breath, fists trembling.
’...’
...she attempted to form a contract.
Silence.
For a moment, all that filled the living room was the dull crimson glow of the ruby and their three thundering hearts.
Nothing happened.
Ayah’s pupils trembled. ’...no...’
Nothing happened.
Uriel scowled, so deeply that his face became a painting of infernal and demonic malice. His spark roared, and a blinding ivory light erupted from him.
Without asking, he invaded Ayah’s heart realm, then, through her, channeled his Resonant Dominance, using not his aether, but her own.
He felt his body begin to break down as he used his spark in such a complex and novel manner, but he didn’t care anymore.
’There is no other outcome beyond success.’
BANG!
[You have formed a contract!]
[You have opened a new taming path!]
[You have tamed a forgotten Legendary creature!]
While still within her, Uriel heard the notifications that flooded her mind.
He returned to his real body, his head whipping back, jaw unhinging as wild laughter tore from his throat, piercing through the silence that had filled the living room.
WHOOOSH!
The ruby surged into Ayah’s body, and her eyes glazed over, turning entirely gold. She immediately lost herself in enlightenment.
[You have completed your Supreme Quest!]
[You have completed your Death Quest!]
Bronze chains manifested all around Ayah, forming a cocoon around her as a sea of aether flooded her body.
Enoch fell to his knees, the pressure finally lifted from his shoulders, and he began to laugh alongside the seemingly mad Uriel.
They’d succeeded.
[Your Class is evolving!]
