Re:write The Authors Transmigration-Chapter 317: The Good, The Bad, and The Editor
Chapter 317: The Good, The Bad, and The Editor
What up, folks? Before you say anything, yeah, it’s me, Jin Kurenai, the one and only editor, talking to myself in the third person, as if there’s actually someone here listening to my rants. I know, I know, I’m disappointed at myself as well. Normally, I would’ve been the normal bloke, but without my old pal Morris around, it seems I’m as cracked in the head as he is. I guess this is how I cope, and for the most part, I’m not very fond of this newfound unhingeness so please put up with me until my jackass of a friend return.
[System: Knight of Death’s passive effect has been triggered due to meeting the activation requirements!
Harbinger of Doom: Any form of death, be it allies or enemies, in the vicinity of the Knight of Death increases the crit chance
Extinction: The weapon wielded by the Knight of Death deals bonus damage when attacking the injured by 15% up to 45%
Death sentence: When confronting enemies who have lost their will to live, attacks will have a 50/50 chance of inflicting instant death.]
"Fervent slice!!!" As the Four Knights of Apocalypse scattered and fought their chosen foe, so did the clash of these two giants ensue, and it began with the Knight of Death’s powerful strike.
"How barbaric, is this the entitled Knight of Death? So brash and uncivilized. Can’t you even find the time to make this a proper duel? Should we first start with an introduction?" To Jin’s dismay, his outright, powerful, and fierce attack was halted in the presence of Azrael, the Virtue of Patience, nullifying the threat and placing it in suspended motion.
[Well, I’ll be damned. That thing possesses Chronos’s Hourglass? But from the looks of it, it’s just a fragment of it. I can only feel the power of deceleration and a full-on stop.]
’No shit sherlock!’
[Now that isn’t so nice of a reply, is it now? You could’ve been sarcastic without cussing. I guess we truly need to retrieve your friend. It frightens me how similar you are to him, as of now.]
"Since you don’t feel like going first. Allow me to introduce myself. It is I, the one and only Archangel of Patience, Azrael, at your service. So, Knight of Death, do you have a name?"
"Jin Kurenai!!! I know it’s not the right one. But unlike my friend, I’m no fan of roleplay, well, unless it’s in bed. Cuz if it is, I’m a huge fan!!!" After his quick introduction, he threw one of his handcrafted bombs towards Azrael, and just as he was about to unleash his Virtue, the bomb exploded, momentarily blinding him.
The handcrafted tool was then revealed to be a manually detonated flashbang connected to his demonic energy, which explodes the moment it reaches its mark. "Got ya,"
"How barbaric," Although Jin’s attack would’ve surely hit its mark, he felt his very being slowed down the moment he reached Azrael’s vicinity, without having his enemy trigger its Virtue.
"Patience, dear sir. But I understand why you’re hasty. The fated end has been halted for a millennium. Since you’re quite abrupt, shall I impose my ideals on you, good sir?" Azrael simply tilts his neck to the left, avoiding the downward vertical slash of Kurenai’s axe, and countering with a one-inch punch to his abdomen.
"Urghh!!!" Although he felt the full blunt force of Azrael’s fist, he did clench his chest to lessen the impact, and upon his descent to the ground, the Archangel felt the weight of his foe.
"So, you have a passive debuff in your vicinity, huh? Too bad, I aint such a simpleton as you think I am. If I’m falling, then you’ll be joining me, ya punk!!!"
Although Jin’s movement was heavily slowed in the range of Azrael’s passive Virtue, it didn’t stop his witty remark, and the resourcefulness he displayed as the Archangel found itself bound to his crimson chains. He wasn’t sure of the outcome as he pushed forward after the detonation of his flashbang, but his paranoia became his saving grace the moment he conjured a line of fiery chains, the moment he thrust his two-handed axe.
"Bet you didn’t expect this, right? Guess your Virtue only affects your surroundings. Too bad..." Jin hurls the chains to the ground, and with it, Azrael felt the rough embrace of the ground.
"How about you stop this, wise guy!!!" The Knight of Death threw his axe towards Azrael and in a blink, it stopped midway, not until it exploded.
"Quite a nifty trick, but thats all there is. My power isn’t that easily prevented. Just as Death is inevitable!"
The Archangel leaped forth from his position and extended his left foot for a swift powerful kick. Jin catches it on time, but he is soon met with the effects of Azrael’s virtue, restricting his movements once again. Regardless, death came from all sides, as an explosion occurred, originating from the arms he chose to catch the intention of his foe.
"Look here, pal. I might seem a tad bit disappointed with how bland our fight turned out. But trust me... I’m dangerous,"
Azrael felt a chill down his spine as their back and forth of dealing and receiving blow after blow was disrupted. Jin had now unleashed the authority he had yet to fully unleash, right to the very start of this third trial. The power of death, something so frightful, and abrupt, and in his possession it took form of the creation of weaponry.
[System: Death’s Authority has been activated!!!
Status: Your interpretation with Death has shaped the authority to your will.
Outcome: Your authority has been granted!!!]
In a flash, Azrael felt the slightest hint of death, as he unknowingly brushed past with a deadly encounter if not for his immediate response. His left shoulder shattered as a hole became present to the place where it once held his arm and his body intact. As the angel grew in disbelief, a black aura seemingly took the form of a weapon of choice in his possession.
"I may be japanese, but I’m an american citizen, through and through..." What better depiction of an immediate death is if not for a weapon of war, and in this case, an assault sniper in Kurenai’s hand.
