Re:Zero All Sins-Chapter 81: Going back to Chibi
Chapter 81 - Going back to Chibi
Minerva looked at him as she spoke. "So what now".
Subaru Actived his sin system as he checked it out. "I am only 60% done with my Digestion process of my Sequence 8 of the Fool Pathway".
Typhon looked at him. "Will, then just stay here big Brother".
Able and Lilith looked at Subaru. "Yes, stay longer today Papa".
Subaru looked at the two kids as he spoke. "I should, but I also wanna do something".
Pandora looked at him as she spoke. "That is?".
Subaru looked at her as he spoke. "Check out the dream layer, she what the Isekai Quartet people are doing".
Minerva looked at him as she spoke. "Are sure you wanna do that"
Subaru looked at them as he spoke. "I mean, I will just be taking over that version of My body".
Echidna looked at him as she spoke. "Yes that is a possibility, but also you could go there and not take over a body, but have this one".
Subaru blineked as he spoke. "Wait that is possible".
Pandora srugged. "The Rules of the dream layer is more like Guide Lines that even the Layer is self doesn't follow all the time".
Subaru narrowed his eyes at Pandora's last statement. "That... is the most dream-layer-logic thing I've heard."
Echidna adjusted her glasses. "It's true. The Dream Layer is chaotic, reflective, and somewhat parasitic. It molds itself around willpower and narrative significance. If you intend to enter with your current self, it may allow it."
Sekhmet (yawning): "Or it may split you in two... or let your Isekai Quartet version see you and go insane..."
Typhon (cheerfully): "Or you might end up in a chibi body! Hehe, that would be sooo funny!"
Subaru: "Don't give the Dream Layer any more ideas..."
Minerva placed a firm hand on his shoulder. "So. You're going to try and merge presence into the Dream Layer. Not impossible... but risky."
Able walked over, eyes wide. "Can I come too?"
Lilith nodded. "Us dream-children are great at navigating nonsense."
Subaru smirked. "You two are literally born from nonsense."
Pandora playfully smiled. "Then let's prep a stabilizer. I'll coat your body in narrative shielding—anchor you to this version of yourself."
Echidna: "And I'll lock your Sequence with a failsafe—if the Dream Layer tries to split you, it'll default to observer mode."
Subaru: "Thanks"
Ainz crossed his arms, his red eyes glowing faintly behind the mask of his skull. "We agreed to keep it secret to avoid any... destabilizing consequences. That version of Subaru had powers that shouldn't exist in this realm."
Tanya gave a dry chuckle, adjusting her military cap. "He hijacked the body, erased the limitations of this dream world, and then casually sipped tea with that damn chibi Satella. That's not normal."
Kazuma flopped onto the rooftop floor. "And don't forget the moment he pulled out that golden sun-flaming sword and cut open a rift to the real world—then didn't use it. He just wanted to 'flex on the system'."
Ainz looked at them. "What worries me more is that he knew about all of us. Personal details, our worlds, our fates... He even mentioned Return by Death, and Subaru didn't reset after that encounter. That means—"
Tanya (interrupting): "—He anchored himself in the Dream Layer. He can come back."
Kazuma groaned. "Which means I have to keep Aqua from doing anything stupid when he does. She's already building a 'Welcome Back, You Sexy Overlord of Plot Armor' banner."
Tanya narrowed her eyes. "If he returns again, I want a full debrief. From the moment he arrives."
Ainz: "Agreed. Next time, we confront him... or at least demand answers."
Suddenly, a faint rumble echoed across the sky.
Kazuma (panicking): "That's not the lunch bell, is it?!"
A tear in the sky above them began to shimmer.
Tanya: "Looks like we'll get that debrief sooner than expected..."
Kazume looked at him as he spoke. "Hey, your not gonna Summoned that Sun-Flame Sword, or destabilise Reality, or break the dream barrier, or make more future events like last time".
Subaru just blineked as he spoke. "What?"
Tanya looked at him as he spoke. "You know like you did last time".
Subaru looked at them, as he spoke. "I didn't do any of those shit".
Ainz blineked as he spoke. "But we remember you clearly doing that shit".
Subaru summoned Witch's Edge. "My sword is not a Sun Sword, this is what happened".
Flash Back.
Subaru looked as he spoke. "I swear I am Subaru".
Tanya looked at him as she spoke. "No your not, Subaru is Confident, a bit of clown, not smart enough, doesn't pay attion in class, and is more outgoing, you are Confident, Fouces, Relax, Paying Attention in Class, and not catter box that makes everyone laugh"
Subaru sighed as he looked at her leaning the wall. "Ok you got I am Subaru, just not the one you guy's know".
Kazuma pointer as he spoke. "The hell do you mean by that".
Subaru crossed his arms, taking a deep breath. "I mean exactly what I said. I'm a Subaru... just not your Subaru."
Ainz, Tanya, and Kazuma exchanged glances.
Tanya narrowed her eyes. "Explain."
Subaru scratched the back of his head. "Look, I don't know the exact details, but let's just say I'm from a different version of Re:Zero. Different experiences, different... abilities."
Kazuma groaned. "Ugh, don't tell me this is some multiverse nonsense."
"Bingo!" Subaru pointed at him. "I woke up in this chibi hellscape, and now I'm stuck here. So believe me, I'm just as confused as you are."
Ainz stroked his bony chin. "That would explain why your magical structure is completely different from the Subaru we know. You're practically radiating multiple curses and—"
"—Wait, wait, wait!" Kazuma cut in. "You're telling me you woke up in our world with no clue what's happening? Then why the hell are you acting like it's normal?"
Subaru shrugged. "Well, I have been through worse. This is, like, low-tier weird compared to what I usually deal with."
Tanya sighed, rubbing her temples. "Of course it had to be a multiverse situation. Just once, I'd like something in this damn world to make sense."
Ainz nodded. "Agreed. Though, this does raise a question... what exactly makes you different from the Subaru we know?"
Subaru smirked. "Oh, you guys have no idea..."
Ainz looked as he spoke. "Do you have a clue on this world".
Subaru looked at him as he spoke. "A weird universe with Demon, Human, Elf, Skeleton, Vampire, Monster who goes too a school but wears wired outfit to highschool".
Kazuma looked as he spoke. ".... Actual you are 100% we all are from different worlds teleported here".
Tanya sighed, rubbing her temples. "So, you do understand the situation."
Subaru nodded. "Yeah, pretty much. I woke up here, suddenly chibi, and now I'm dealing with you lot while trying to figure out what's going on."
End of flags back
Subaru looked at them as he spoke. "At what point did I do anything you said".
Minerva then blinker as literally Light Bulb went up. "There Memorys much be a bit confused sense he did come to the Hanging Garden which was one layer up, and then you sent them back at the dream layer, because if I remember correctly you all just talked".
Kazuma's eye twitched. "Wait. You're saying our memories are fake?!"
Subaru raised his hands defensively. "Not fake—just blurry. You know how dream logic works. Especially in the Dream Layer. It bends time, causality, even memory. You probably mixed up what you thought happened with what actually happened."
Tanya crossed her arms. "So... no sun sword, no breaking reality, no dramatic monologue about the future?"
Subaru blinked. "I mean, I could do a dramatic monologue, if that would help."
Minerva giggled. "He didn't even unsheathe his sword until after they all accused him."
Ainz slowly nodded. "The Dream Layer... tampering with memories makes sense. Especially if he passed through the Hanging Garden Layer first—where soul concepts and mental constructs become... mutable."
Kazuma sat down on the rooftop. "So basically, you showed up, scared the hell out of us with your calmness and big energy, and we imagined the rest?"
Subaru shrugged. "Wouldn't be the first time people thought I was more dangerous than I actually am."
Tanya narrowed her eyes. "Or less."
Minerva chimed in brightly. "Besides, he's still only sixty percent done digesting his Sequence 8. If he really broke reality, you'd know."
Kazuma mumbled. "Great. So this version of Subaru is calm, powerful, and backed by a literal Witch. We're doomed."
Subaru smirked. "Don't worry. I'm not here to break anything. I'm just visiting. But hey—if the real trouble ever starts, you'll want me around."
Ainz chuckled dryly. "That is somehow both comforting and ominous."
Minerva looked around. "So, do we join class or just hang out on the rooftop while everyone else gets suspicious?"
Subaru grinned. "Let's go to class. I want to see how weird this chibi world really gets."
Kazuma stopped then at the door. "Wait, stop, Ainz. Check now".
Ainz made a quick locator spell as he spoke. "Yeah, the body is our Subaru".
Kazuma sighed as he spoke. "Ok, but what about her". He pointed at Minerva. "How do we explain her, I am pretty sure anyone from Subaru world might recognise her?".
Subaru looked at them as he spoke. "No, probably only Chibi Beatrice, and Maybe Chibi Reinhard if he is here, mostly Because Minerva looks like his Cousin".
Minerva sighed as she spoke. "Don't remind me; I am still wondering how the event has been a few months".
Tanya raised an eyebrow. "Wait. Reinhard's cousin? That's the link?"
Subaru nodded. "Yep. In my world, Minerva's divine look happens to overlap exactly with a certain noble bloodline. Coincidence? Maybe. Is fate messing with people? More likely."
Ainz mused aloud. "So to avoid suspicion, we'll have to say she's either a transfer student, a magical accident, or some illusion Subaru created."
Kazuma snapped his fingers. "Let's go with transfer student. Classic cover-up. Weirdness happens every week here anyway."
Tanya muttered. "It'll still raise flags. She radiates divinity and emotional energy like a reactor core. Someone's bound to notice."
Subaru smirked. "Let them notice. I just wanna see Chibi Emilia get flustered again."
Minerva blushed slightly. "You didn't say she was that adorable when chibi."
Kazuma opened the classroom door. "Alright, Showtime. But if anyone starts glowing or reality gets fuzzy again—I'm blaming you."
Subaru stepped through with a grin. "Deal."
Kazuma was to first walk, in as he saw Chibi Roswaal as he spoke. "Um, sir, we have a new student; her name is Celeste".
Roswaal looked at him as he spoke. "Mmmm, a new student. Bring her in".
Subaru walked in first; as he went to try to to sit his Isekai Quartet version, which will always take, Minerva introduced herself as Celeste as he could Tell Chibi Puck and Beatrice had a heart attack.
Chibi Beatrice's eyes widened like saucers. "I-in Beatrice's name... That's... that's—!"
Chibi Puck dropped his chalk mid-levitation. "Whoa there. That can't be a coincidence."
Minerva—now 'Celeste'—gave a polite nod and smile. "Nice to meet you all. I'm Celeste, a transfer student. I hope we get along."
Chibi Emilia blinked rapidly. "She's... really pretty. And familiar, but I can't place it."
Chibi Rem and Ram squinted in sync. Ram muttered, "Her mana feels... nostalgic."
Subaru, already slouched in his usual seat, smirked. "Don't overthink it. She's from a distant land. Definitely not a divine spirit who punches people back to health or anything."
Chibi Reinhard walked past, then did a double take. He froze. "...Lady Celeste?"
Minerva looked at him, flinched slightly, and gave a nervous smile. "Please don't call me that. It brings back... family reunions."
Roswaal chuckled with a drawn-out hum. "Mmmm~ quite the aura she has. Very curious indeed."
Kazuma whispered under his breath. "This is already going sideways."
Tanya added dryly. "We're one day from divine fist-fights or emotional therapy via suplex."
Ainz only sighed. "Let's just hope no one finds out her hugs can cause minor earthquakes."
Aqua pocked on Kazuma back, as she looked at Subaru before looking back at Kazume. "Please tell that is not that other Subaru again".
Kazuma looked at her as he spoke. "Yup, body take over again".
Aqua face dropped as she spoke to him. "Why is he Beyonder Back?"
Kazuma sighed, shoulders slumping. "Because the universe clearly hates us, Aqua. That's why."
Aqua crossed her arms, looking half-panicked and half-dramatic. "He's going to break something again, I just know it. The last time he was here, the clocks ran backward, Megumin had an existential crisis, and Darkness started worshiping him."
Megumin popped up behind them, blinking. "Hey! That wasn't a crisis, that was a moment of clarity. There's a difference."
Darkness, already blushing, looked toward Subaru. "I-it was hard not to admire such... unshakable composure and mystical danger. He threatened time itself, Kazuma!"
Kazuma gave her a deadpan look. "You have issues."
Aqua grabbed Kazuma by the shoulders. "We need to exorcise him. Or at least bless this whole damn school!"
Minerva—Celeste—tilted her head slightly. "...Do I count as cursed too?"

Aqua stared at her, narrowed her eyes, then recoiled. "Witch. Definitely Witch. She's giving off 'hug-you-into-a-wall' energy."
Subaru raised a hand. "First of all, rude. Second, she's not evil. Just really enthusiastic with affection."
Chibi Beatrice grumbled. "I'll start prepping tea for the inevitable disaster..."
Would you like the class scene to continue with more Isekai Quartet reactions or a comedic event triggered by Minerva next?
