Real Heiress: Flash Marriage With Boyfriend's Uncle-Chapter 403: She cheated on you!?
Chapter 403: She cheated on you!?
That evening, Lucius arrived at the café where he had arranged to meet Carlo. The rooftop was deserted, save for the two of them.
Carlo set his cup down on the saucer and he met Lucius’s sharp gaze.
Lucius didn’t waste time on pleasantries. "I have no interest in making you my enemy. So, withdraw the woman you sent to infiltrate my people."
Carlo studied Lucius intently, a smirk tugging at his lips. "You weren’t this kind of man before your marriage. Making peace with mafias was never in your nature. Seems like marriage has changed you quite a bit," he mused.
Lucius’s expression remained neutral. "Do what you’re told, Carlo," he ordered.
Carlo tilted his head, amusement flickering in his eyes. "Tell me something, Lucius, did you kill Tsar Romanov and his father?"
"Yes," Lucius answered without hesitation. "Why?"
Carlo let out a low chuckle. "It was nearly impossible to lay a finger on them. And yet, you did. I heard your wife played a key role in it." He leaned forward slightly, lowering his voice. "You sure do have a lot of protectors. First, it was Matteo. He was practically obsessed with keeping you safe."
Lucius’s patience was thinning. His gaze darkened. "I’m not here to discuss that," he said coldly. "Your leg still doesn’t work properly, does it? Don’t make me take away the use of your second one, too." fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
Carlo’s smirk faded at the unspoken threat.
"You betrayed Matteo in the past," Lucius continued. "Be grateful you’re still breathing."
Carlo exhaled, his fingers drumming against the table. "Fine," he relented. "I’ll withdraw. But I want your word that neither you nor your men will ever step into my territory again. I have no desire for this situation to escalate."
Lucius gave a curt nod. "Then call the woman and tell her to return to Naples with you," he instructed. "And make sure we never cross paths again. I know you want to settle an old score with me, but I have no interest in playing that game. It’s best we live our own lives without dragging each other into unnecessary chaos."
Carlo scoffed. "This all started because of Sylvia. If she hadn’t shown up at my door, none of this would have happened."
Lucius leaned back slightly. "It wasn’t Sylvia who started this. It was you. She only wanted to know about Tsar. You were the one who tried to capture her. I know exactly how that played out."
Carlo’s jaw tensed. "Because she was... Never mind." He waved a dismissive hand and pushed back his chair, rising to his feet. "Since there’s nothing more to discuss, I’ll be leaving."
Lucius gestured toward the door. "Go ahead."
Without another word, Carlo turned and walked away, disappearing down the stairs.
A minute later, Chase stepped onto the rooftop, greeting Lucius with a nod.
"Thank you for your hard work, Chase," Lucius said. "From today onward, you are no longer my spy."
Chase frowned. "Why, Boss?"
Lucius exhaled, standing up and tucking his hands into the pockets of his long brown coat. "I told you before I don’t want to be in this life anymore." He pulled an envelope from his coat and held it out. "Take this."
Chase hesitated before taking it, his brows furrowing. "What is it?"
"Open it and see for yourself."
Chase tore the envelope open and unfolded the document inside. His eyes widened as he read. It was a letter of appointment. He had been given a position as General Secretary in one of De Salvo Group’s subsidiaries, a prestigious company specializing in organic supplies.
For a moment, Chase was silent, staring at the paper in disbelief. "Boss..." he muttered and his voice faltered for a moment. "The first time I met you, I saw great potential in you," Lucius said. "You joined this world to avenge your sister’s death, and in doing so, you served my purpose as well. But now, I’ve found the answers I was searching for. That’s why I want to release all those who have been loyal to me for so long."
Chase listened in silence as he felt overwhelmed.
Lucius continued, "Starting tomorrow, you’ll be working at De Salvo Organics. I know you’ll do well in this new path."
He patted Chase’s shoulder, offering a rare gesture of reassurance. Chase swallowed hard, nodding, ready to show his abilities.
"Thank you," he said. "Boss, if you ever need me, just call. No matter where I am, I’ll always be there for you."
Lucius gave a small nod. "Hmm. Go home and get some rest." He paused before adding, "And I’m no longer your boss. Just call me by my name."
Chase exhaled a soft chuckle, a genuine smile breaking through now. "After you, Lucius."
With that, he turned and walked away in joy.
Lucius smiled as he felt satisfied. Leaving the cafe, he got into his car and drove to his home.

Nora pressed the doorbell and took a step back, waiting patiently. A few seconds later, the door swung open.
"Welcome home," Demitri greeted her, his gaze briefly flickering to the heavy duffle bag in her hand. Without a word, he reached for it, relieving her of the weight before stepping aside to let her in.
She followed him inside as he carried the bag with ease, leading the way to the living room.
"Did you go to your rented place?" he asked, setting the bag down near the couch. "You should have informed me," he stated.
"I didn’t want to disturb you," Nora replied, settling onto the couch with a small sigh.
Demitri wordlessly poured a glass of water and handed it to her.
"Thank you," she murmured, accepting it. She took a few sips while Demitri sat down beside her.
With a soft clink, she placed the glass on the table. "I brought some groceries. The fridge was practically empty yesterday, so..." She gestured toward the carry bag beside her.
Demitri chuckled. "I was planning to go shopping with you. And yet, here you are, paying for groceries."
"We have a deal about that," Nora reminded him. She stood up, reaching for the bag. "I’ll put them away in the kitchen."
"It’s fine. I’ll do it," Demitri said, grabbing the bag before she could. "You should rest in your room. I’ll bring you some hot coffee too."
Without waiting for her response, he headed toward the kitchen and walked into the room close to the staircase.
After freshening up and changing into her nightclothes, Nora heard a knock on the door. She opened it to find Demitri standing there with a tray in his hands. Without a word, she stepped aside, letting him in.
She took a seat on the bed, cradling the warm mug between her hands, while Demitri settled into the lounge chair near the floor-to-ceiling window. The soft glow of the bedside lamp cast a calm atmosphere over the room.
"Thank you for the coffee," she murmured.
Demitri gave a small nod. "How was your day? Did your colleagues bother you again after that incident?"
"No," Nora replied, taking a sip. "The Chairwoman is considering firing them. They were practically begging me to convince her to change her mind."
Demitri exhaled, leaning back in his chair. "Layla’s decision is probably for the best. The company doesn’t need people like them."
"She said the same thing," Nora admitted.
Demitri’s eyebrows lifted slightly. "You met her?"
"Yes. I thought I should," she answered, meeting his gaze.
"You’re too soft, aren’t you?" Demitri mused, watching her with a knowing look.
Nora sighed, tracing the rim of her coffee mug with her finger. "I just don’t want someone to lose their job because of me. But after speaking with the Chairwoman, I felt more at ease. You never told me she went through something similar to what I did."
Demitri leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees. "I didn’t see the need to. Besides, Layla’s personal life isn’t mine to share."
"Yeah, you’re right," Nora admitted. "But learning about her past made me understand her better. She used to be like me. Always trying to please everyone. She told me to be selfish for my own happiness. That it’s not wrong to put ourselves first sometimes."
Demitri nodded in approval. "That’s solid advice."
As they sipped their coffee in comfortable silence, Nora finally broke it.
"Why did Elena say that? It didn’t sit right with me," she admitted, glancing at Demitri.
He let out a sigh, swirling the coffee in his mug. "According to her, I never gave her enough time," he said. "I worked night shifts because I preferred it that way. I won’t deny that I was set in my ways, but that didn’t mean I didn’t care. I liked her, a lot. I was even planning to marry her."
Nora’s eyes widened in surprise. "You were?"
Demitri nodded. "Yeah. But none of that mattered in the end." He exhaled slowly before adding, "She cheated on me with another guy."
Nora nearly choked on her coffee. "What? She cheated on you!?" she exclaimed, unable to hide her shock.
