Reawakening: Primordial Dragon with Limitless Mana-Chapter 22: First use
Chapter 22: First use
Another morning.
Hades stood near the peak of the hill, in the same spot where he met Rinne every day—this time, using it for training.
He was balanced on his both hands, his entire body inverted. Resting on the soles of his raised feet was a solid boulder, about two hundred kilograms heavy. Its weight alone would crush most men, but Hades kept it steady with sheer will and muscle control.
His bare torso glistened with sweat, every fiber of his arms and core working together as he slowly lowered himself-until his nose nearly brushed the dirt—before pushing back up with a controlled breath.
"Hupp... hupp..." he counted, his voice low and focused. Just a few more reps to reach a hundred. That would finish the quest. That would unlock the next stage.
But then, a faint sound slipped through the forest.
A branch shifted. A breath caught. Too quiet for normal ears—but not for him.
’So... he finally lost his patience,’ Hades thought, a small grin curling on his lips.
He finished the final push-up, muscles rippling, then with a sharp motion, he kicked the boulder into the air and let it crash down to the side.
Getting to his feet, he grabbed a towel and began wiping the sweat from his body—calmly, like he hadn’t just felt a wave of killing intent brush against his soul.
"I really don’t enjoy killing without reason," he said aloud, his voice smooth but cold. "So if you’re just here to observe, keep your presence buried."
But they didn’t listen.
SWISH — a dart sliced through the air.
SWISH SWISH — two more followed, each aimed at a vital point.
Still drying his face with the towel, Hades tilted his head slightly to the left, then shifted his torso with casual ease. The darts zipped past him, missing by inches.
His blood-red eyes focused on a faint shimmer—an assassin, camouflaged against a tree trunk.
"Take a moment to remember the faces of your family," Hades said softly, locking eyes with the hidden man.
The assassin flinched. His cover was blown.
With a sharp step forward, he drew his blade and lunged.
But Hades had no intention of giving second chances.
The attacker pointed his sword, ready to parry or dodge.
He never got the chance.
SQUELCH.
The sound was wet, brutal. He looked down—eyes wide in disbelief.
A pulsing, blood-covered heart was clutched in Hades’s hand.
His own.
"G-Gah..."
Before his knees could even hit the ground, another shout pierced the air.
"Bastard!" fгeewebnovёl.com
A second assassin charged from the side, swinging a heavy axe, full of rage—
The second assassin roared, swinging his axe with all his weight behind it.
Hades caught it—with one hand.
Before the attacker could even react, Hades crushed the handle, then grabbed the man’s face and slammed it into the ground with a bone-shattering CRACK.
Blood burst from the man’s skull as his head bounced once, then stilled—twisted unnaturally.
Another came from behind, trying to catch Hades off guard.
Hades stepped back, elbowing the attacker in the throat. A loud snap. The man fell, choking on shattered bone.
Two more dropped from the trees, one with twin daggers, the other throwing knives.
Hades grabbed a stone mid-air and flicked it like a bullet—straight into the eye of the knife-thrower. He screamed, stumbled, and before he could fall, Hades was already there, snapping his neck with a swift twist.
The dagger-wielder slashed fast—but not fast enough.
Hades moved like a shadow. His hand shot forward, grabbing the man’s wrist, then twisting it until the bone poked out. He shoved the dagger into the man’s stomach, dragged it across, then hurled him into a tree with such force, his spine caved in on impact.
Another tried to flee.
Hades appeared in front of him in a blink, grabbed his leg, and swung him like a hammer into the trunk of a tree. The man’s skull split open, painting the bark red.
Only one remained—frozen in fear.
"No-pleasee—" he begged, crawling back.
Hades stepped forward, raised a foot, and stomped down on the man’s chest. Bones crunched, bloodshot from his mouth, and his heart gave out in seconds.
*Scruff*
Hades snapped his head to the left and realized, "There are hundreds of them..." They all were rushing toward him with the obvious intent of killing him.
Hades began to prepare for a long battle, when suddenly,
[This is the perfect opportunity to try your powers.]
"What do you mean?" Hades frowned.
[Why don’t you stop suppressing your primal instincts and use the famous Gaze of the dragons?]
Hades was baffled, "I can?" He was aware of the Gaze that strong dragons carried. But he had only read about them in a book.
Dragon’s gaze paralyzes everyone who is weaker than it; rendering them useless in a battle.
[Once you grow, you can even claim the souls of those who are weaker than you, using the Tyrant’s Gaze.]
He ignored that message.
The enemies were drawing closer.
Hades picked a fallen axe from nearby, just in case.
He closed his eyes and focused.
On that particular glowing structure within his body.
He reached the source. He stops restraining the source of power which has been tempting him until now. He slowly embraced the reality he had been trying to deny until now.
And then,
*BLANK*
His pupils were no longer human. They had slanted into thin, vertical slits, glowing faintly like burning gold beneath the ash. The moment his eyes locked onto the horizon, the air cracked.
There was no roar. No flame. No visible attack.
Just a wave.
A silent, invisible force exploded outward — a ripple of will — and the world felt it scream.
Birds took flight in terror before falling midair. Trees shuddered as their leaves withered on the branches. The ground itself recoiled, dust flaring upward as if in awe of something ancient now awakened.
And then the forest went still.
Completely, unnaturally still.
One by one, the assailants fell.
Their eyes widened in horror as their legs betrayed them. Some collapsed to their knees, panting like they’d run for miles. Others dropped face-first into the dirt, clawing at their throats as if choking on an unseen hand.
However, Hades was not completely unaffected either.
His face was pale, and his heart rate had accelerated.
[You used too much mana behind it.]
He staggered back and decided to retreat for now.
