Rebirth: Building the Strongest Party with my Overpowered Harem.-Chapter 19: Danger brewing
Chapter 19 - Danger brewing
The gate closed, with Adonis and Filo standing at the very back.
Everything after they had walked through the gate no longer made any real connection to their world.

It was a grand canyon.
Rocks the size of buildings were stationed on both sides, the red sun shone down on the adventurers, and the eerie feeling of being watched from all sides—this was the experience of the gate itself.
Of another world.
Gripping her bag, Filo made sure she was standing close to Adonis.
The worst-case scenario comes to shove, sacrificing her life for his safety didn't sound like a bad idea.
'This is my first time entering a gate, so I don't have much knowledge about it. But whatever the case, I need to make sure I stay close to Evans. He is my top priority... Oh, and the girl too.'
Adonis looked to the side. A bit further away from him was a black-haired girl with a cloak covering her face and body.
He sighed. 'That's two people I need to protect.'
"Listen to me!"
Suddenly, Evan yelled from the front.
Everyone paused, ready to listen to the second piece of information the head guild leader was about to announce.
"As I'm sure many of you know how raids in gates work. The fact the gate has closed here means it has opened in another place. You all are to split up into groups of three. My assistant will give you all signal flares. When you see the gate, alert the rest of us—that will be our escape route if things get bad."
Rose readily gave six people the signal flares, the cloaked girl being one of them.
It happened too fast. Everyone had already grouped themselves and was ready to head out.
Adonis and Filo found themselves in the same group as the cloaked girl and three other adventurers.
'Shit! I let my guard down!' Rashin grunted a bit.
"Oh, so you're the ones we'll be teaming up with. Nice, the name is Charles Martinez, C-rank," the blond man introduced himself.
From the expensive armor he wore, it was safe to assume he was from a wealthy family.
The girl to his right also spoke. "Yina Eliana. B-rank healer."
The other male spoke too. "Toen Raojka, B-rank fighter."
Adonis could not believe they were introducing themselves while in the center of a monster-infested wasteland.
The other groups had begun to cover more ground, and yet—
He sighed. "Adonis Heartwood, F-rank healer."
They all went silent, their faces filled with confusion.
"Are you joking?" Toen was the first to speak.
"My rank has increased. I just haven't been able to register it yet," Adonis replied.
"Oh? So you reawakened?" Yina asked.
"Obviously. The dude is way too young to have increased his rank himself. Doesn't it take at least half a lifetime to even have any chance of that?"
Adonis could not with these people. He viewed them as total idiots.
"Ah well, it doesn't matter. Just stay close to us, we'll protect you."
Charles turned his attention to the remaining two women.
Before he could say a word, Filo had already begun to stare him down. The same went for the hooded girl.
Feeling a bit frightened, Charles chuckled. "It's fine then, we should get going."
He turned around and began to move.
One by one, they followed him.
"Adonis, I don't trust these people with our safety. I say we go join up with the other group," Filo whispered to Adonis.
Adonis replied, "I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel the same way, but..."
He took a quick glance at the girl. "Leaving now is not an option. Let's go."
With that, their group went on walking around this new world.
All over the place were skulls and dead bodies of different kinds of creatures.
Charles and the two others beside him kept discussing out loud, their voices echoing throughout the grand canyon.
It was simply too annoying for Adonis to bear any longer.
"Oi! Think you guys can tone it down a bit?" Adonis finally spoke.
Filo was surprised. At the same time, she had a proud expression on her face.
Charles and the rest turned around, but not with a friendly expression.
"What was that?" Charles questioned.
"Tone it down. Your ranting is making it hard for anyone to tell if we are being watched or followed. I wouldn't be surprised if monsters swarmed all of us right here because your voice attracted them," Adonis uttered, not a single hint of fear on his face.
"Where the hell do you get off?" Charles stormed forward, grabbing Adonis by the collar.
Filo was ready to attack, but Adonis raised his hand, telling her to stop.
"Are you saying I am the one putting this team in danger?!" Charles shouted.
For a brief moment, Adonis could feel his skill, [Death Instinct], flicker. Whether it was from Charles or something else was a different issue.
"Look here, I don't know if you think you're some kind of big shot just because you reawakened one rank above or something. But if you don't keep your damn mouth shut, I'll be the one to kill you instead of the monsters, you got that?!"
"C-Charles...?" Toen called out with a shaky voice, tension following right after.
"I've been nice to you! Have I not?! Don't go thinking you can take advantage of that?! Got that?! Huh? Say something, you damn idiot?!"
"Charles!!!"
"What?! What is it?!" Charles turned around aggressively.
The anger that was once boiling inside him completely died down when he read the sight before him.
On top of the rocks that surrounded them were gorilla beasts, each one twice the size of a huge human.
And judging from their numbers, Charles knew they didn't stand a chance.
He immediately let go of Adonis's collar and then pulled out his blade.
"Shit! They have us surrounded!" he yelled.
Toen did the same too, pulling out his sword for battle.
Meanwhile, Adonis remained at the back, his eyes shifting from left to right.
'And here I thought things could not get any worse.'
