Rebirth: Building the Strongest Party with my Overpowered Harem.-Chapter 25: Eat this monster.
Chapter 25 - Eat this monster.
With blurry eyes, Sofia fell to her knees, breathing heavily.
Raising her head, she noticed Evans was sprinting towards Dani, probably trying to stop him from bleeding out.
For the most part, the monster was dead, so it was only natural that Evans focused on his teammate next.
"Hey, are you alright? Hold on, I'll patch you up," Evans uttered as he tore a piece of his cloth and wrapped it around Dani's damaged leg.
Even then, the cloth was quick to get soaked by the blood, leaving the excess to drop to the ground.
Though Dani was unconscious from the pain, Evans could tell he must be feeling quite unbearable.
Looking to the side, he wondered if any of the other squads would have found the gate.
The sooner he got Dani to a hospital, the better.
"Come on, let's go."
Evans carried Dani on his shoulder, ready to set out to search for the nearest adventurers. He needed to make sure there was protection in case he ran into any monsters.
Suddenly—
"Evans! Watch out!!!"
That was Sofia's voice, and she seemed to be warning him about something.
Before Evans could turn around, a huge force connected with the ground next to him, sending him and Dani flying as their backs slammed against the wall.
Coming to, Evans wanted to know what had attacked him while he was distracted.
It was then he noticed the Xenophon, its body healing from the foot all the way up, threads weaving together to form its skin.
"No way... it's regenerating?"
Evans barely believed what he was seeing, every single hope he had completely shattered before him.
Especially after seeing how defeated Sofia looked, Evans knew he had no chance of winning.
An A-rank going up against an S-rank monster was nothing but suicidal, even if he was a hunter.
His special authority only worked if he had teammates. Most were dead, and some had fled for their lives in search of the gates.
In other words, Evans was completely powerless in the situation.
With time, the Xenophon managed to get its full body back, now even bigger than before its body had been blown off.
Its first target seemed to be Evans, as it had already turned its full body towards his position.
"Run away, Evans! It will kill you!" yelled Sofia.
She was way too tired to stand to her feet, hence why she tried her best to yell and let Evans know he didn't stand a chance.
While she couldn't walk because she was exhausted, Evans couldn't move because he was terrified.
On the verge of shitting himself.
'Am I... going to die... inside a gate?' he thought to himself continuously as the tentacles of the monster sped towards his body.
His eyes widened, fixed on the tentacles heading towards him, knowing there was no chance he could dodge the attack.
'This is it... uhn...'
Baam!
There was a huge force, and what followed was a voice.
"Damn it, I missed."
Evans saw as Filo fell from the sky, landing a powerful punch on the Xenophon's head that nearly broke every bone in its body.
The monster fell to the ground, its body softened as if it were paper.
Just as Filo touched the ground with her feet, she turned around to look at Evans.
"Why on earth were you just sitting there? You could have died, you know?" she spoke, with her brow raised.
Evans was so speechless that the only thing he could do was stare in shame.
Before long, he heard a familiar voice.
"Oh my, Dani, is he alright?!"
Turning his gaze to the left, he saw Yuri running towards his location.
At first, he was happy to see her, but his happiness disappeared just as quickly when he saw the three dark gorillas following her.
He wanted to scream, to warn her of the monsters tailing behind her, and that was when he saw Adonis in the middle, his hands nonchalantly placed in his pockets.
'What is happening? They are fully aware of the monsters and are still this calm?' Evans thought to himself.
Once Yuri was close, she immediately knelt down beside Evans and began to heal him.
"You're alive," Evans said with a smile.
"Don't speak, you're very injured right now. Just remain still, I'll heal you."
"You... shouldn't focus on me. I am a hunter. I'll survive this. Heal Dani first."
Filo hardened her gaze. "Don't be ridiculous, I know how to do my job."
Evans couldn't help but sigh, and then he calmly changed the topic.
"And who is your friend? I don't want to believe I am seeing things, but are those monsters behind him?"
"It's quite a long story. Though I can tell you this—if it wasn't for him, Charles and I would have been dead. He is strong."
"Is that so..."
Evans' shock was even more evident when he noticed multiple other dark soldiers towering on top of the hills, watching over their king, Adonis Heartwood.
'A Necromancer type? No, Necromancers can't control this many monsters. Is he a mage? That makes even less sense.'
Evans slightly panicked.
Meanwhile, Adonis stood not too far away from the monster, watching as it slowly regenerated from the damage it received from Filo.

"Eww, that's gross. How is it regenerating?" Filo thought out loud.
'I'm thinking the exact same thing, Filo. I don't think I even know how to slay this monster. Not like Alice knows either—she decided not to get closer and hide instead.'
Adonis sighed. 'Honestly, I didn't expect Evans to lose to these monsters, but seeing as there are no other adventurers here, I can understand why he lost. The more teammates he has, the stronger he gets. A power that is dependent on others... can't say I fancy that kind of power. Well, mine is kinda similar to that.'
Raooooorrrre!
The Xenophon stood to its feet, its attention now fixed on Adonis.
Filo immediately took a fighting stance, ready to battle the monster once again.
'The only difference is, I can't afford to lose.'
Grinning, Adonis pointed at the monster and ordered his soldiers.
"Eat this monster until there's nothing left of it."
