Chapter 89: Can’t a wife visit her husband?

As they approached the towering building of Mo Corporation, Lixue’s gaze sharpened. This was her first time seeing the place where her husband had built his empire. The sleek, imposing structure reflected the city lights, exuding power and prowess.

The car rolled to a stop at the front entrance, and Yan quickly stepped out to open the door for her.

Lixue stepped out gracefully, her coat trailing behind her as her heels clicked softly against the pavement. She tilted her head up, taking in the grandeur of the building before turning to Yan.

"You can wait here. This won’t take long," she said, her tone confident.

"Of course, Madam," Yan replied, bowing slightly before stepping aside.

Lixue walked through the glass doors, her presence immediately commanding attention. The lobby was sleek and modern, with polished marble floors and a minimalist decor. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞

The staff at the front desk paused, their gazes drifting to the stunning woman who had just entered.

One of the receptionists, a young woman with neatly styled hair, quickly recovered and stepped forward. "Good evening, miss. How may I assist you?"

"I’m here to see Mo Ran," Lixue said, her voice steady but calm.

The receptionist blinked, momentarily stunned by her beauty and the way she carried herself. "Do you have an appointment?"

Lixue’s lips curved into a faint smile. "No, but I doubt I need one."

The receptionist faltered, glancing nervously at her colleague before picking up the phone. "Let me inform the CEO’s assistant. One moment, please."

As the call was made, whispers began to circulate among the staff in the lobby. Who was this woman? Her aura was undeniable, and the way she mentioned Mo Ran’s name suggested familiarity, if not something deeper.

Within moments, the elevator doors opened, and a sharply dressed assistant stepped out, her heels clicking against the floor. "Madam Mo," she said with a slight bow, her expression respectful. "Mr. Mo Ran is in a meeting, but I can escort you to his office to wait for him."

"That won’t be necessary," Lixue replied smoothly. "Take me to him now."

The assistant hesitated but nodded. "This way, please."

The elevator chimed as they reached the executive floor, and the assistant stepped out, gesturing down the hallway. But Lixue didn’t wait for instructions.

The heated argument in the boardroom echoed down the hallway, voices raised as Mo Ran’s cold, commanding tone cut through the air like a blade.

It was enough for her to know where to go.

"Is this what you call preparation? You expect me to sign off on this amateur work?" he snapped, slamming a folder onto the table. The group of men flinched under his glare, scrambling for words to defend themselves, though none dared to meet his eyes directly.

"It’s just that—" one of them began hesitantly, but Mo Ran silenced him with a sharp look.

"No excuses," he said icily. "If you can’t handle something as simple as this, maybe you’re in the wrong position."

Before anyone could respond, the door swung open.

All heads turned toward the sudden intrusion. Lixue stepped in, her heels clicking softly against the polished floor. The room fell into a stunned silence, the tension evaporating into thin air as every man in the room stared at the woman who had just entered.

Her presence was magnetic, her beauty out-worldly, and her confidence disarming. She didn’t falter under their stares; instead, she smiled politely at the stunned receptionist in the corner before letting her gaze sweep across the room.

Mo Ran’s expression, previously stormy and filled with frustration, shifted the instant he saw her. His cold demeanor melted as his eyes softened, surprise flickering briefly across his face.

Without hesitation, Lixue crossed the room and walked straight to where Mo Ran sat at the head of the table. The men’s eyes widened as she leaned against his chair for a moment before gracefully sitting herself down on his lap, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

A sly smile curved her lips as she looked at him. "Hubby," she said sweetly, her voice carrying through the room, "I have good news."

The silence in the room deepened.

Mo Ran stiffened for a brief second, his ears reddening in visible shock. Lixue had never done something like this before, and her unexpected boldness left him momentarily speechless.

His subordinates, on the other hand, sat frozen, wide-eyed, as they processed what they had just witnessed. "Hubby?" one of them whispered under his breath, disbelief etched across his face.

Mo Ran recovered quickly, clearing his throat as he adjusted his posture. His arms instinctively wrapped around Lixue’s waist to steady her, though he still looked slightly flustered. Turning to the men, his tone was firm but clipped. "The meeting is over. Leave."

There was a beat of hesitation as the men exchanged incredulous glances.

"Now," Mo Ran added, his sharp gaze sweeping over them. That was enough to send the group scrambling to gather their things and file out of the room, a mix of shock and curiosity lingering on their faces.

As the door clicked shut behind them, Mo Ran finally turned his full attention to Lixue, his brows furrowing slightly as he studied her. "What are you doing here?" he asked, though his tone was much gentler than it had been just moments ago.

Lixue tilted her head, her smile widening. "Can’t a wife visit her husband? Besides, I said I had good news."

Mo Ran’s expression softened further as he exhaled, leaning back slightly in his chair. "And what is this good news?"

She leaned closer, her playful smile never wavering. "I’ll tell you in a moment. But first, you looked like you were about to terrify those men into resigning on the spot."

Mo Ran chuckled, the sound low and rich. "They deserved it."

"Still...go easy on them during the next meeting, I can see that they’re hard workers...especially for such a picky boss.."

Mo Ran grinned as he brought his face closer, a smirk appearing on his lips that made Lixue blush.

"They get their pay and a good amount of time deadline, so their projects should be perfect or at least noteworthy.."
