Chapter 53 -53: Blame that Unlucky Brat

Ji Xinghang carefully recalled Luo Ning’s words after hearing them.

It seemed that Bo Xiangxiang’s appearance that day was indeed very coincidental, and her actions of throwing herself in front of him were even faster than the bodyguard next to him.

The sulfuric acid had all splashed onto her back, and her clothes appeared to be quite thick, so after being taken to the hospital, the examination showed she hadn’t suffered any major injuries, just some redness on her skin, which could recover with some medication applied.

Suddenly, his mind went blank. So the help he thought was special that time was actually fake?

Seeing Ji Xinghang deep in thought, Luo Ning didn’t break the silence.

They arrived at the gate of the Ji Family’s villa, and Ji Xinghang came back to his senses.

He opened the door and said, “Let’s get out of the car.”

“Okay!” After Luo Ning and he got out of the car, she greeted the driver and asked him to wait for a moment.

Ji Xinghang immediately said, “I’ll drive you back later.”

Luo Ning shook her head, “No need.”

Ji Xinghang spoke with a hint of bitterness, “Alright then.”

His mind was quite chaotic now.

Both of them entered the villa together. Qi Yuelan had been sitting in the living room waiting and immediately showed a warm and affectionate smile upon seeing Luo Ning, and she stood up and walked over.

She took Luo Ning’s hands and looked around with a smile, “It’s been a while, and my Ningning has grown even more beautiful.”

The distance and coldness Luo Ning had towards Ji Xinghang earlier dissipated as she affectionately smiled back, “Aunt Lan, you look more and more beautiful too.”

Qi Yuelan led Luo Ning inside, “I adjusted the filling you like, I’m going to make soup dumplings.”

“I’ll help you,” said Luo Ning, linking arms with her.

“Okay.” Qi Yuelan had not seen Luo Ning for several months and wanted to be closer.

They both went to the kitchen together to make soup dumplings.

Luo Ning asked, “Aunt Lan, how is Huuhui’s health now?”

“It’s much better now; she was just overthinking before,” sighed Qi Yuelan and added, “But since she found out she was pregnant, she finally came through it.”

“I’ll visit her another day.” Luo Ning and Huuhui had a decent relationship.

Huuhui’s husband had died in an accident some time ago, and their relationship had been extremely close. Huuhui was profoundly affected and even developed depression.

As the only blood relative left by Aunt Lan’s brother, Aunt Lan had been by her side for the past six months, and they even went abroad for treatment together two months ago.

That’s why she hadn’t heard about the hot search news.

Qi Yuelan nodded and smiled, “You two get along well, it’s a good idea for you to talk to her.”

Luo Ning was like a daughter to her as she had watched her grow up; so she spoke without reserve.

After chatting for a while and as they made soup dumplings, Luo Ning said, “Aunt Lan, Ji Xinghang and I broke up.”

Qi Yuelan’s hands paused, and she turned her head incredulously to look at Luo Ning, “When did this happen?”

“Half a month ago,” Luo Ning stopped her actions and looked at her.

Qi Yuelan was furious, “Did he mistreat you? Ever since he came back, he has become more rebellious, really driving me to anger.”

She knew how much Luo Ning had valued her son previously, but since it had led to a breakup, it definitely must be that scoundrel’s fault.

Luo Ning sighed, “On our anniversary, I cooked a whole table of dishes waiting for him to come home, but he went to accompany another woman instead.”

“He and that woman were caught on camera by the paparazzi and made the trending list, and he actually asked me to take the blame. I got horribly bashed online because of it, so I refused.”

“You also know that ever since we’ve been together, he has become cold toward me and often gets impatient with me. After this incident, my heart has grown cold too, and I don’t want to be with him anymore.”

She had spent half her life at Aunt Lan’s house, who could really be considered her second mother, which is why she opened up like this.

Her breakup with Ji Xinghang was indeed because of Bo Xiangxiang, so she wouldn’t help him cover it up.

Luo Ning was practically raised by Qi Yuelan, who knew her personality was stubborn, and once she made up her mind, it was hard to change.

She paused for a moment and asked, “Ningning, are you sure about this after careful consideration?”

Luo Ning nodded, “Yes, I’m sure, and I won’t look back.”

Qi Yuelan sighed, “Alright, since you’ve decided, I support you.”

“It’s only Ji Xinghang, that damn fool, who is unlucky.”

She could see how deeply her son felt about Ningning, but he just liked to mess things up, ruined the relationship with his antics, and he did not appreciate her speaking up. Now it was too late for regrets.

Though she really wanted Luo Ning to be her daughter-in-law, she preferred to respect her wishes.

In her heart, Luo Ning had always been her little quilted jacket. In the toughest years, if it weren’t for Jiang Xinxin and Luo Ning’s company, she didn’t know if she could have survived.

“Ningning, if a year from now, you are still certain you won’t be with Xinghang, then consider me as your godmother.” Qi Yuelan had long wanted to consider Luo Ning as her daughter.

Initially, seeing the relationship between Luo Ning and Ji Xinghang flourish from childhood sweethearts to potential marriage, she thought if not a daughter, then a daughter-in-law would be great.

Now that the daughter-in-law was not an option, she continued to be a daughter.

Luo Ning nodded and smiled, “Alright, Aunt Lan can be my godmother from now on.”

Originally, Aunt Lan and Mr. Ji had misunderstandings which led to complications in their relationship, and she ran off to their city and fainted, only to be saved by her mother.

They had known each other since their youth, and from that point, Aunt Lan stayed there and opened a florist shop with the help of her parents.

Aunt Lan and her mother became inseparable best friends, their children grew up together, and she spent four or five days a week eating at Aunt Lan’s house, sharing a mother-daughter-like bond.

A few years ago, Mr. Ji found Aunt Lan and her son, and after clearing up the misunderstandings, brought Ji Xinghang back with him.

But Aunt Lan and her family remained close, and after her father disappeared, Mr. Ji still took care of them.

Knowing she was with Ji Xinghang, Aunt Lan was very supportive, and even convinced Mr. Ji and others to support them.

Whenever she had conflicts with Ji Xinghang, Aunt Lan would always stand by her, truly caring from the heart.

Therefore, she did not want to grow distant from Aunt Lan just because she had broken up with Ji Xinghang.

Qi Yuelan embraced her, “Ningning, you truly are my quilted jacket.”

“By the way, has your mom come over here?”

She continued, “I was accompanying Huuhui at the overseas sanatorium, which was remote with practically no cellphone signal. I just found out today upon returning to the country that your mom had called me and sent a message.”

“I tried calling back, but her phone was switched off.”

Luo Ning replied, “Yes, I’ve moved my mom and little brother in with us.”

“She dropped her phone in water this morning, and I bought her a new one at noon; she hasn’t switched it yet since I haven’t been home, so it’s no wonder you couldn’t reach her.”

Qi Yuelan breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing this; she had been worried something had happened to her friend.

“It’s good she’s here, I’ll finally have company for shopping, I’ll ask her out for tea tomorrow.” Qi Yuelan said cheerfully.

Luo Ning was happy for her mother to get out more, “Great!”
