Rebirth of the Disgraced Noble-Chapter 27: Where Do I Go From Here?
Aden regained consciousness, and the first sensation he experienced was the coarse sand against his face, a blazing coldness and heat assaulting either side of them simultaneously.
His face jerked upwards with a hiss, his eyes squinted as he tried to adjust to the white light that occupied every corner of the sky.
His hands placed on either side, he managed to stand to his feet after much effort.
He took four steps backwards as his brain surged back to life, recalling the memories that he would’ve not minded forgetting.
Shakily, his dry lips opened as he called out weakly.
"H–hello?"
His voice echoed for miles, each echo causing his heart to drop further down his stomach.
He called out a few more times, waves and waves of apprehension washing over him, then stumbled forward and began walking aimlessly around the deserted lands in search of any form of life.
After an indeterminable amount of time, Aden fell to his knees with heavy breaths, sweat drenching every inch of his body, his face grew pale.
He wasn’t physically exhausted.
His vision blurred and cleared multiple times, accompanied by a constant ringing in his ears.
"Master? Where are you?"
He called out, a hopeful smile on his face as he got to his feet once more and wandered.
"Master?!"
Aden’s eyes widened to the limit as a human figure came into his view, shrouded by a haze of dust.
He ran towards the figure as fast as he could, each step taking him hundreds of miles closer towards it.
"Master! I thought I’d lost you—"
As his hands reached out to grab the figure, they closed on nothing, and his face rushed toward the floor.
With a dull thud, Aden inadvertently assumed the exact position he woke up in.
His face remained planted on the ground for a while, then his body shook.
His back trembled violently as they rose and fell erratically.
The sand below him took a darker shade in the area where his face was buried.
His trembling hands clenched the sand tightly, as though it might bring him back.
A muffled scream sounded, then died down after a while.
The reality weighed upon him heavily, and if not for the unavoidable evidence around him, he would’ve rejected the authenticity of everything that had happened with every fiber of his being.
He spent close to an hour in that position, his back raising and falling calmly, the violently as he stayed.
After a while, he weakly pushed himself to his feet, wet sand clinging to his face before he brushed it away with a wave of his hand, revealing his once-damaged left eye—now carrying a distinct darkness.
Suddenly, he stiffened.
’How come I’m healed, and where’s the entity?’
Aden’s face grew solemn as he recalled the last moments where the seemingly proud and condescending entity had fallen into the depths of despair after seeing his Master’s technique.
"Come to think of it, how did I ever come in contact with it?" Aden mumbled.
The first time Aden had heard that voice in his head, it had been one of the scariest moments of his life.
Naturally, he had tried to trace the origin of this eerie phenomenon, but everytime he’d try to jog his memory, there was always some sort of haze that he couldn’t mentally get past.
Like, a restriction of some sorts.
After multiple trials, he still couldn’t get past that threshold, but the entity occasionally whispered strange words and recounted experiences he had no memory of.
After much thought, he attributed the haunting voice to the ring that had been stuck on his finger ever since his reincarnation.
And so, he tried all he could to extract it, hoping to stop whatever was happening to his sanity.
Naturally, all attempts proved futile.
Luckily, the entity’s voice could no longer be heard for the moment, and Aden briefly wondered if it had finally been erased—before discarding the thought entirely.
"Where do I go from here?" Aden muttered as he faced the sky, his long silver hair brushing lightly against the ground.
He stood there in silence. The jungle he’d once called home was now no different from a desert; the animals that once sang life into it no longer existed. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
"All is lost..."
Aden looked down at his callused hands, then clenched them.
"I swear on my life, I will never lose anything that’s mine again."
Suddenly, his heart started beating wildly, the hairs on his arms stood on end and a massive amount of energy leaked out of his body, causing a small hurricane to form around him.
Varying emotions showed on Aden’s face as he levitated a distance above the ground before landing soundlessly.
"Fourth stage of Attuned realm..." He whispered in awe.
In order to confirm his doubts, he reached in to the space within another ring that rested on his thumb finger and brought out a small rock that glowed with a dense blue hue.
A sad expression formed on his face as he rubbed the smooth surface absentmindedly.
"Thanks for the gift, Master."
Aden steeled his expression and closed his eyes.
A thin strand of his energy which could only be identified by the faint twisting of the air around him, reached into the rock and circulated round the intricate patterns within it.
A small exhale left his lips after a while and his eyes opened.
"This is a little similar to a system..." Aden remarked as he looked at a blue interface that slowly formed words on the holographic–like surface that stemmed out of the rock.
His hands waved in front of it, but it merely passed through as it distorted.
His eyes refocused on the now complete words before him:

[RESONANCE INITIALIZATION: SUCCESSFUL]
HOST: ADEN (Vessel: Daren Redwyn)
STATUS: [CRITICAL] – Cellular Instability / Soul Scarring
REALM: ATTUNED (Stage 4)
FREQUENCY: 142.4 Hz (Unstable)
---
CORE TRAITS:
[ADAPTIVE PREDATION (Rank: UNIQUE)]
Effect: Passive evolution through trauma. The body "remembers" lethal frequencies and develops structural resistance.
Current Adaptive Layer: Soul-Breaker Residue (0.000001% Implementation)
Effect: Grants minor resistance to logic-erasure and spiritual vacuum.
[THE PASSENGER (Rank: ERROR)]
Identity: [REDACTED / ANCIENT DISSONANCE]
Effect: Forced body-synchronization. Increases physical output by 400% at the cost of biological integrity.
Warning: Data Corruption detected. The Passenger is not under Host authority.
---
ACTIVE SKILLS / TECHNIQUES
[MARROW-BRIDGE RESONANCE (Level 1)]
Effect: Uses Resonance to act as a physical substitute for broken bones or severed nerves. (Current: Left Ankle active).
[GLITCH-STEP (Level 1)]
Effect: A crude imitation of Kaelthorn’s movement. Temporarily vibrates the body at a frequency that mimics a "gap" in reality.
[VOID–SIGHT(Level ??)]:
Effect: The ability to look into the "Nothingness" without going blind or insane.

Aden went silent for a while as he digested the information placed before him.
After breaking through, his mental capabilities had sky rocketed. He was now able to decipher and understand massive amounts of information without issue.
’What’s with the frequency though? I thought Resonance was all about life patterns or something,’ he wondered.
Letting out a heavy exhale, Aden chose to drop the thought process and mentally answered, ’Yes.’
Even with his increased mental capacity, the sheer weight of these options felt like trying to hold two different oceans in a single cup.

[NOTICE: TWO COMPETING FREQUENCIES DETECTED. SELECT THE ARCHETYPE OF YOUR ADAPTATION:]
____
OPTION 1: THE SILENCE OF THE VOID
Origin: Kaelthorn (The Dissonant Butcher)
System Classification: Subtractive Resonance
Key Skill Gained: [VOID-CLOAK] (Rank: Ancient)
Description: You don’t hide, you cease to be. Your frequency drops to a level that the world’s logic cannot register. Tracking spells, physical sight, and even the "sense of presence" slip off you like water off glass.
Passive Stat: [UNTRACEABLE] – You leave no resonance footprint.
The Cost: Your heartbeat and body temperature will drop permanently. You will become a "Ghost" to the living.
OPTION 2: THE MAJESTY OF THE COLLAPSE
Origin: Baldric (The Royal Arbiter)
System Classification: Additive Resonance
Key Skill Gained: [SOLAR-FLARE VEINS] (Rank: High-Resonance)
Description: Your marrow is rewritten to produce "Star-Fire" resonance. Every strike you land mimics a localized sun-collapse. You become the ultimate "Glass Cannon"—capable of vaporizing a fortress but burning your own nerves in the process.
Passive Stat: [OPPRESSIVE AURA]
Effect: Weak-willed enemies will be paralyzed by your mere presence.
The Cost: Constant internal damage. You will require high-level "Cooling" adaptations to keep your body from melting.
[WARNING]: Choosing The Silence will allow you to bypass the Royal Scribes currently surrounding the crater.
>Choosing ’The Majesty’ will likely trigger an immediate combat encounter with the High-Tier Mages stationed at the perimeter.
