Rebirth: Pampered by the Lord-Chapter 1965: Departure
The steward turned to glance at the Prince’s door and said worriedly, "I don’t know how the Prince is doing. I should go in and check."
"Hey hey hey!" Long Yi quickly blocked him, saying, "The Prince was just seen by the doctor, he’s surely tired. You better not go in and disturb him."
The Prince detested being interrupted when he’s with the madam, Long Yi knew this well, and quickly stopped the steward from entering.
"Disturb?"
"Yes, let’s not disturb the Prince."
"But isn’t the Prince unconscious?"
"Oh... right... haha...!" Long Yi momentarily forgot, nearly let it slip, and quickly laughed it off: "What I mean is, the madam is inside taking care of the Prince, so we better not disturb."
"Oh, so that’s how it is!"
"Yes, yes, that’s it."
The steward thought for a moment and then said, "No, that’s not right. The madam is worth ten thousand gold, how can we let her do such a laborious task of caregiving? No, no, I should send two maids to look after the Prince."
Saying this, he turned to leave.
"Stand still."
Long Yi suddenly shouted, startling the steward. He turned around and asked, "Guard Long, what are you doing? You scared me."
"Look at you, you nearly made a big mistake, don’t you know?" Long Yi strode over to him and said.
"I... I... what mistake did I make?" the steward asked, utterly confused.
"What did you just say?"
"Find two maids to serve the Prince."
"Not that line, the previous one."
"The previous one? What did I say?"
"You said taking care of the Prince is hard work."
"Yes, that’s right, taking care of someone is indeed hard work."
"Is taking care of the Prince hard work?"
"No, I didn’t mean it like that." The steward suddenly understood why Guard Long was upset; he realized he had misspoken.
"Taking care of the Prince is a blessing cultivated over ten lifetimes."
"Yes, yes, you see, I was so worried about the Prince’s condition that I misspoke." The steward tapped his head, looking terribly regretful.
"So... so... should I call two maids to attend to the Prince?" Now, the steward was indecisive and simply asked Long Yi.
"No need, no need, with the madam there it’s fine."
"Hey!"
The steward furtively wiped the sweat from his forehead, fearing Guard Long might report what he had said to the Prince.
"Long... Guard Long, I’ll brew medicine for the Prince, so... so... so...!"
"It’s alright, you can go!" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
"Hey hey, the Prince’s care will trouble you."
"It’s the right thing to do, since we’re all working for the Prince!"
"Hey hey!"
The steward accidentally misspoke, feeling guilty. While speaking, he turned to leave, but in his hurry, he accidentally stepped into a hole and fell head-first into the nearby flowers, leaving two feet sticking out...
"Mmm mmm...!"
The steward uttered muffled sounds.
Seeing this, Long Yi quickly went up, grabbed his feet, and pulled him out like a radish.
"Ouch, ouch!" The steward groaned while lying on the ground catching his breath.
Long Yi looked at him and asked, "Steward, are you alright?"
The steward was in a mess, his hair covered with flowers and grass, and his hair was disheveled.
"Getting older, it’s easy to be careless, haha...!" The steward smiled awkwardly, embarrassed to admit that he misstepped because of his guilt.
"The path in our mansion is so wide, yet you still manage to fall, I really admire you."
"Haha...! Getting old is just like that." The steward reached out and tidied his clothes.
