Chapter 630: Chapter 632: Twenty-One Years Ago

"Nianhua’s classmate is delivering something and even brought his parents?" Xu Qinghe found it particularly odd after hearing this.

Xu Qinghe stepped out of the workshop and saw from a distance, indeed, there was a car parked at their doorstep.

No matter who it was, Xu Qinghe had to go back and see.

"Wuu wuu, it’s all my fault, my poor daughter." Fang Yue wiped her tears, filled with guilt and self-blame.

"Enough, now that you’re here, speak properly. What’s with all the crying? Although the Xu family lives in the countryside, by the looks of it, they seem to live quite well. You’re still crying here, are you disdaining them for picking up your daughter and raising her?" Gu Hai spoke in a deep voice.

Gu Hai stood with his hands behind his back, surveying the surroundings; the verdant mountains and forests indeed made it a picturesque spot.

Fang Yue’s tears and her choking sobs stopped abruptly. She wiped the unnecessary tears from the corners of her eyes. Standing next to the car, she watched Gu Hai and Jiang Jing praise the scenery. Without realizing it, her hands clenched tight, enduring it all for Mingzhu, for her future.

Xu Qinghe approached step by step and saw a few unfamiliar faces. He asked the youngest among them, Jiang Jing, "Are you Nianhua’s classmate?"

"Hello, may I ask if you are Xu Nianhua’s father, Xu Qinghe?" Jiang Jing inquired.

"Yes." Xu Qinghe murmured to himself, looking towards Gu Hai, feeling a sudden thumping in his heart, as if something was amiss.

"Hello, let me introduce myself again. My name is Jiang Jing, and I’m from South City." Jiang Jing took a step forward. Observing the villagers behind him, who were either there to watch the commotion or for some other reason, he said, "Mr. Xu, may we talk inside?"

Jiang Jing’s words made Xu Qinghe feel even more uneasy. He asked, "Are you here to see Nianhua?"

His gaze fell on Gu Hai and Fang Yue standing nearby.

"Yes." Jiang Jing felt that some things were not suitable to be discussed here, but the attitude of Xu Qinghe made him pause before saying, "Twenty-one years ago, under the Big Locust Tree."

Twenty-one years ago?

Under the Big Locust Tree?

Nianhua’s biological parents have come looking for her?

Xu Qinghe’s pupils immediately constricted, and once more, his gaze settled on Gu Hai and Fang Yue. Perhaps influenced by Jiang Jing’s words, could it be that Nianhua’s big eyes looked similar to Fang Yue’s?

Xu Qinghe didn’t recall how he entered the house, sitting there in a daze in the new house. Nianhua hadn’t even come back to live in the new house yet, and now her biological parents had shown up?

After entering the house, Jiang Jing did not speak up again.

Fang Yue took the initiative to say, "Hello, I am Nianhua’s biological mother. These years, it’s my fault for losing her."

Fang Yue’s emotions were particularly intense, and her voice choked up as she reached the last sentence.

"Wait, you’re saying you are Nianhua’s biological parents?"

Xu Qinghe slowly calmed down and asked, "Do you have any evidence to prove it?"

Mere mention of twenty-one years ago under the Big Locust Tree was not enough for Xu Qinghe; he felt it necessary to ask in detail.

Back then, he too had hoped Nianhua would find her parents so that she wouldn’t have to suffer with his family. But as time passed, he felt Nianhua was a gift from heaven since they had no daughter, and he found her. After all these years, Xu Qinghe no longer wished for Nianhua’s biological parents to come back.

Yet, who could have known that this day would still come?

"The child was wearing blue clothes, and the swaddling clothes were also made of blue cotton cloth," Fang Yue spoke quickly. She couldn’t remember anything else, but she vividly remembered the clothes the child wore because she had hoped for a son and therefore chose blue for the garments and swaddling clothes.
