Chapter 18 - Dog barking

"What happened?" Those two were as dramatic as she remembered.

However, listening to their bickering, Jazmine Harrison felt a strange warmth welling up in her chest. Like something forever lost a long time ago had been regained once again.

"She is getting fat." Frank dropped the bomb directly.

Amelia's face was filled with shock before she burst out. "Frank, you f*cker! I just got five pounds! Just five pounds! My BMI still falls in the normal weight range! Do you have to say it like that?!"

"Then why did none of my tailored dresses fit you?"

Amelia fell silent for a moment before shifting the blame on Frank. "You took the wrong measurements. You are just finding excuses to blame your mistakes on me! How dishonorable!"

"Her father is angry. He asked her manager to strictly monitor her diet."

"More like starve me. Jazmine, do I look fat to you?"

Jazmine Harrison glanced at Amelia and took in her features.

Amelia wasn't an A-list model for no reason.

Her looks were... beyond heavenly.

No matter what dress she wore, somehow she was capable of making it look stunning on her.

That would bring out the largest number of orders and the highest biddings in auctions.

"You're as pretty as before," Jazmine said tactfully.

"See? That's what I've been trying to tell that old man! Humph!"

"She didn't say you are not fat," Frank laughed.

"You..."

"Don't worry, Amelia. Fat people are human too. I know you are here to get an immediate reservation at your favorite Italian restaurant. Let me call my secretary to reserve a private room for us. We'll leave once I get dressed."

"Now that's my Jazmine." Amelia wanted to jump in happiness. Finally, she could eat something other than tasteless dietary items. She kissed Jazmine on the cheek and jumped onto the couch in front of the television. "Wait... How did you guess? In the past, you couldn't tell my intentions."

"Um... Let's just say your longing face told me."

Jazmine took a quick shower. After dressing in a light blue silk blouse, white dress pants, and Harry Winston light sapphire diamond earrings, she was ready. She walked into the living room.

Frank and Amelia were fighting over the remote.

"How do I look?" Jazmine twirled.

Glancing at Jazmine, they paused.

"Jazmine... Didn't you... I mean, this is not your style, right?" Amelia's gaze was confused.

"I thought since I am now married and have to look after a corporation, I should opt for a more decent getup." Jazmine frowned. "Do you not like it? Maybe I should go back to—"

"No, no, no, you look perfect! I was just startled! In fact, this is the style that suits you best! Say something, Frank—" Amelia hurriedly nudged a frozen Frank. She didn't want Jazmine to revert to her gaudy and vulgar style.

However, Frank was bewitched.

"Jazmine, what happened to you during the time we were away?" He asked right away, looking into her eyes. He caught a flash of sadness within her green eyes.

Could it be related to David Anderson? None of us mentioned it, afraid we might hurt her, but it is said he left for Vietnam the day after his wedding. In any case... this is not normal for a married couple.

Frank was playful at times, but in reality, he had a deep understanding of everything.

"This is not what I asked you to tell her!" Amelia got impatient.

"Silence, woman. I am getting to that part. Jazmine, your new style really suits you. I hope you can keep it so." He said with a sincere smile.

Of course, how could I forget? Frank is a sly fox. I have to be careful in front of him. He remembers the immature Jazmine Harrison. If I suddenly change, he won't welcome my change with warm arms like Amelia. He would grow suspicious, Jazmine thought to herself.

They hoarded Amelia's personal van on the way to the restaurant.

Along the way, Frank and Amelia continued their banter. Occasional sounds of laughter filled the van. An outsider could tell the three people inside shared a very deep friendship.

Amelia was eager to tell Jazmine about her recent trip to Japan, cursing at the part where they visited a famous restaurant and her manager didn't let her eat anything. Frank bragged about the tale of a Japanese chick he had gone out with.

When Jazmine stepped out of the van along with her two out-of-heaven friends, the trio immediately caught the spotlight.

"Look! Is it the Prince of Fashion? Is it really him?"

"Yes, it is! Look! Amelia is also accompanying him! They both appear everywhere together!"

"OMG! Should I ask for a selfie? Would it be too rude?"
