Rebirth: The Ascent of a Socialite-Chapter 636 - 258: Counterattack (Part 2)
The man standing in the center seemed to be the leader. He chuckled, "Mr. Shang, I heard you have clout in both the underworld and legitimate circles, but now it seems you’re about to fall at the hands of us brothers." As he spoke, he pulled out a shiny dagger, the edge so sharp it reflected the arrogance on their faces.
It seemed that neither Yan Wuxu nor Fei Qing wanted Shang Yin to walk out of this alley alive tonight.
Shang Yin spat, adjusted his stance, and leaned against the wall behind him. The alley, which belonged to the bar, usually had some empty bottles and crates lying around. He groped around and grabbed a bottle.
The cold, smooth bottle shifted in his palm before he hurled it out, striking the man in the center on the forehead. The man, howling in anger, ordered, "Finish him off." The remaining three men surged forward, the daggers in their hands seemed to carry a murderous aura, aiming to stab holes in Shang Yin.
Shang Yin lifted a cardboard box, initially blocking to the right, the knife of the man on the far right plunged into the slightly misty cardboard box and got stuck, unable to be pulled out immediately.
Shang Yin then delivered a sidekick, knocking over the man on the right. The man on the left then lunged forward, his dagger slashing wildly, but Shang Yin wrapped his sturdy arm around the man’s neck and hurled him against the wall.
Despite Shang Yin’s quick reaction, he couldn’t avoid getting hurt. As he slammed the man on the left into the wall, he felt a stab in his back. The dagger plunged into his flesh, the sharp blade piercing deep.
"Son of a bitch," Shang Yin grunted in pain, ignoring the warm blood oozing continuously from his back, he used his still functional shoulder to bump into the man who had ambushed him.
Adding in the one previously hit by the bottle, there were soon four men groaning on the ground, half-dead. Blood soaked Shang Yin’s back, his clothing sticking to the exposed flesh, chafing against it.
The two men guarding in the alley were initially frightened by Shang Yin’s desperate struggle, but seeing that Shang Yin had already been seriously injured and was shaky on his feet, it seemed he wouldn’t last much longer.
Thinking of the sizable bounty, the two men exchanged glances and each drew their daggers.
Significant blood loss blurred Shang Yin’s vision, with his left hand bracing against the wall, he felt a sweet metallic taste rising in his throat.
Light shone directly into the alley as a black Ferrari rushed in. The two men about to kill Shang Yin didn’t expect anyone to show up suddenly, and quickly ran out of the alley. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
"Brother Shang, hurry and get in, there might be an ambush," Chang Chi said, looking pale as she observed the gruesome scene in the alley. Seeing that the people had run away, she ran down from the car, pressing on Shang Yin’s wound while helping him into the vehicle.
"How did you get here?" Shang Yin, hearing Chang Chi’s voice, felt a wave of relief wash over him.
"I heard from Nina that Fei Qing was forcing you to transfer the bar tonight, and you left alone, I was worried something would happen to you, so I rushed over." Nina was the head of public relations who had previously delivered the transfer agreement.
"Damn it, it must be that wastrel Fei Qing and that bitch Yan Wuxu. I’ve been generous enough, giving them a bar for free, and now they still want to see me dead. Once I recover from my injuries, I won’t let them off," Shang Yin had never been so miserable in his life; if not for Yan Wuxu appearing just in time, he might have died in this pitch-black alley.
"Let’s not talk about this now, your wound is deep, we need to get to a hospital," Chang Chi’s voice sounded strange, but Shang Yin didn’t suspect anything; it was already formidable for a woman to see such a scene and still have the courage like hers. Chang Chi really was a good woman.
After helping Shang Yin into the car, Chang Chi then peered back into the depths of the alley. The men lying on the ground groaning and the messy smashed bottles brought a smile to her lips.
The scene was exactly as she had anticipated—more chaos, deeper misunderstandings. Shang Yin couldn’t possibly guess that the one who had stabbed him in the back wasn’t the two people he mentioned, but rather Chang Chi, who had appeared so "aptly" at the crucial moment.
The four men groaning on the ground were soon carried away by the two men who had retreated and then returned; the alley was messy, but Shang Yin’s car still remained quietly parked there.
After Shang Yin left the private room, Yan Wuxu couldn’t wait to enter the private room previously occupied by Fei Shang. Upon entering, she saw Fei Qing flirting with the quite coquettish head of public relations. After receiving a cold glance from her, the public relations head adjusted her hair and walked out with a sway, giving Fei Qing a kiss before leaving.
The joy Yan Wuxu felt earlier disappeared instantly. She didn’t know if buying the bar was right or wrong. Fei Qing had already been using this place as his pleasure den, and now he would be mixing up with those shameless women even more.
"Put the bar in my name," Yan Wuxu commanded in an indisputable tone, altering the property owner’s name on the agreement. Only by having the bar in her name could she rightfully discipline those seductresses outside.
"Alright, alright, you have the final say, darling. Shang Yin really is a pushover, letting us manipulate him easily and not daring to resist. We got this bar practically for free," Fei Qing hugged Yan Wuxu, mocking how useless Shang Yin was, and they both brazenly laughed in the bar, completely oblivious to the "dance" that had unfolded outside in the alley.
