Chapter 24: Chapter 24: After Wedding, What’s Next?

Throughout the night, Xin Yan slept soundly. She woke up the next morning and found herself in an unfamiliar bed.

She felt dazed as she rubbed her eyes. Instantly, she recovered from her daze, remembering that she was now a married woman at her in-laws’ place.

She hurriedly glanced around the room searching for Li Qiang.

Getting up from the bed, she worriedly asked herself, "Where could he be?" It was then she noticed she wasn’t in her previous attire, they removed her clothes.

Who put different clothes on me? She questioned whether he removed it, as her face suddenly went pale.

As she held the clothes tightly, Li Qiang appeared.

She gazed at him, her lips slightly parted. Just out of the shower, he was dangerously securing a towel around his waist.

He froze in place, startled by how soon she was already awake.

’You’re awake,’ he said casually as he recovered from his surprise.

She gawked at him, considering if she should ask. Although she hesitated to challenge him, avoiding the question would only leave her feeling uneasy. Taking a deep breath, she asked.

"Did you change my clothing?"

He came to an immediate stop and peered deeply into her eyes.

"What if I’m the one?" he responded, answering her question with one of his own.

Xin Yan’s breathing intensified as she clenched her palms, trying to regain composure.

"Why did you choose to do this?" Xin Yan glared at him and made her stance clear, "Just because we are married doesn’t give you the right to undress me whenever you want and think you’ll face no repercussions."

What made him brave enough to undress her? There’s no denying his shamelessness.

Because he wasn’t expecting it, her outburst caught Li Qiang totally off guard. His goal was just to playfully tease her, not realizing it would make her angry.

"Relax, I was just kidding; I really didn’t undress you and didn’t think you would take me seriously."

She felt a surge of relief wash over her, then immediately felt guilty for snapping at him.

’I’m really sorry,’ she muttered uncomfortably, clearly not accustomed to offering apologies. No matter which of her prior lifetimes you look at, she never made an apology.

"It’s fine."

"Then who removed my clothes?" She inquired.

"It was Nanny Zhong who removed your clothes personally. I have forgotten none of your wishes." He reminded her and she let out a dry chuckle.

He then announced that they would stay here for a few days before visiting her grandparents, after which they would move to his house. He added that her clothes were sent to his place, and she acknowledged with a simple nod.

Seeing that he had already showered, she asked, ’Are you heading to the office?’

"Yes, there are still some issues that I need to take care of," he said with a heavy sigh, gazing at her regretfully.

He wanted nothing more than to slack off and stay with her all day, but it wasn’t possible. As the head of his company, he needed to bear this price.

"That sounds great! Go ahead, put your clothes on. I’m going to work; I still need to clear out a few weeds." As she thought about her next decision, a spark of contemplation flickered in her eyes.

"What’s on your agenda?" he asked with an inquisitive gaze.

"Oh, just demoting Yuan Renshu. Doesn’t that amuse you? She eagerly observed his expression. She also wanted to see Yuan Renshu’s look after she must have done so.

Li Qiang stared at her, unable to find the right words. She was so different. Even though they hadn’t talked previously, he was familiar with everything that concerned her.

His heart longed for her, yet understanding her unwavering commitment, he confined his love to secrecy. He didn’t want to engage in what might cause her to hate him.

Now that she ended things with Yuan Renshu, she’s even scheming to bring him down which was totally out of his expectations. Even without loving him, she consented to their marriage. Her actions baffled him completely.

"May I ask why you and Yuan Renshu decided to part ways?" His voice held a hint of bitterness as he recalled, ’Assuming my memory is right, you two were very much in love.’

Xin Yan felt amazed. The question he asked caught her by surprise. What was she meant to say?

Living through both death and rebirth gave her what to expect in the future, causing her to want to cut ties with him. Who would believe her, even though she was clearly truthful?

"I had a dream, a very bad dream and when I woke up, I gained clarity and I got back to my senses," she could only respond this way.

He looked at her skeptically but let the issue go. Ultimately, it was worthless anyway. He understood that wasn’t the truth. She neither trusted him enough nor felt ready to provide the answer.

Things were fine because he planned to help her trust him.

Both of them dressed within thirty minutes and then walked downstairs together.

"Little Yan, did you sleep well?" Grandpa Li asked her with enthusiasm. He ignored his grandson.

"Yes, Grandpa, I apologize for sleeping through the night and not seeing the guests off. I made a mistake." She apologized and admitted her mistake.

He comforted her, saying, ’Silly girl, it’s okay. I get you must be exhausted from the past few days.’ She gave a faint smile in response.

"You can call your grandparents and brother; they left last night," he suggested while she nodded.

Without his instructions, she still would have done it.

"You two are on your way to the office, right? Qiang, let her off. I can’t believe I have a grandson like you." He gazed at his grandson with disdain, prompting Xin Yan to burst into laughter.

"Have some breakfast before you go," Xin Yan’s rumbling stomach clearly agreed.

An embarrassed chuckle escaped her lips while both men grinned.
