Chapter 70: Chapter 70: A Story (Unedited)

*Li Qiang’s Mansion*

Xin Yan stirred slightly as she groaned a bit. She held her forehead as she felt it ache her badly.

"You are awake," Li Qiang who was seated on the sofa rushed to her side immediately once he heard her noise.

"What happened?" She asked as she sat up, her hands on her forehead.

It felt like numerous ants were trying to eat her up and she could neither make head or tail of what had happened the previous day.

"Your body broke down, you fell sick," Li Qiang pressed his lips slightly as he informed her of what had happened.

As he recalled her pale face, he still had lingering fears and he he only wanted her to be safe.

"Oh," she said while looking around.

Li Qiang looked at her and he was close to opening her brain to check what was in it. It was just a random thought though.

"What do you mean by oh? You were very pale last night, you were coughing and sneezing at the same time and your body’s temperature was ridiculously high," Li Qiang said to her as he wondered what sort of person she was.

"I am okay now, aren’t I? And you look like you did not sleep the entire night," she pointed as she tried to change the topic.

"If I slept throughout the night, your health would have deteriorated the more and Chuxi will be disheartened, freshen up so you can have breakfast, and take your drugs, you were not able to take it yesterday because you fell asleep," he said to her and she nodded without any complaints.

If she did complain, then she was going to be yelled upon. That she was sure of.

After Li Qiang exited the room, Xin Yan left the bed with great difficulty before she walked into the bathroom to freshen up.

After she put on some casual clothes, she made her way downstairs, to the dining room.

"Mommy," Li Chuxi called out once she noticed Xin Yan in the kitchen.

She immediately rushed to her side as she checked up on her.

"Are you okay now?" Li Chuxi asked with an innocent look in her eyes.

"Yes, mommy is much better after she had rested," Xin Yan ruffled her hair before they both walked to the dining.

"But still, you still have to take your medication, the doctor has advised you do so, you will have breakfast and I will monitor you while you take your drugs," Li Chuxi acted like a grandma causing Xin Yan to nod helplessly.

"Good morning Aunt Guo," she greeted as she took a seat at the dining table.

"How are you now? You were burning up severely yesterday," Aunt Guo asked about her health and she nodded positively

"Are you going to the office today?" Xin Yan inquired from him and he looked at he before responding,

"No, I am not."

She pouted slightly before she sank back into her chair. She was more than excited for him to leave for the office but it seems he knew what was going through her mind.

"Even if I do go to the office, do not forget I have someone to report back to me," Li Qiang said as he pointed at Li Chuxi who smiled brightly.

"I guess I am being teamed up against," she lamented with a sigh.

Her face changed immediately she saw the food which was presented to her.

She looked towards Aunt Guo who gave her a sympathetic smile. She then turn to look at Li Qiang who drank out of his cup of coffee, effectively ignoring her.

It was a plate of bland porridge with a bit of vegetables sprinkled on it. She had always hatred porridges, would she have to eat it now?

"Mom, this is for your good, your health is more important, you have to eat this in order to get well," Li Chuxi explained to her and she nodded, albeit reluctantly.

Eating the bland porridge felt like she was about to commit suicide but seeing Chuxi’s little face, she could only force herself to eat it.

As she took each bites, she vowed never to get sick again as she did not want to face such trauma again.

After breakfast, Xin Yan was forced to take the medications once again and after she was done, she sat on the sofa listlessly.

The medicine tasted very bitter and she wished she could vomit it all but Li Qiang’s stern face stopped her from doing so.

"Mom, do you want to listen to a story?" Li Chuxi asked as she moved closer to her.

Xin Yan looked at her curiously as she wondered what sort of story she was about to tell.

"Sure, I would love to listen to Li Chuxi’s story," Xin Yan looked at Li Qiang who nodded.

He also wanted to know what sort of story she wanted to tell to them.

"Alright," she exclaimed happily as she sat up straight.

"There was once a young couple, they were very in love with each other, they met when they went on a vacation and they fell in love with each other after the relentless pursuit of the male," she started as she watched their faces, eager to know if they had some sort of reaction but nothing.

Rather, they had curious expressions on. They wondered how she was able to have such a story stored in her brains.

She wasn’t disappointed, she only continued with the story.

"Like I said earlier, the couple were so much in love and nothing could separate them, they had a child together," she paused and she could see that they had serious expressions on their faces, they were paying rapt attention to her.

"After the lady gave birth, an accident happened, and they got separated from their kid," Li Chuxi had a melancholic smile on her face as she narrated the event.

"It turns out that the parents of the child lost their memories and they returned back to their normal world, forgetting about their kid and the love they shared in the process," Li Chuxi ended and she was stunned when she saw the tears on their faces.

She was not expecting them to cry and now, she had no idea as to how she was to console them. Her dad crying also came as an huge surprise to her.
