Chapter 340: If I go down...I am taking you down with me

"He agreed to meet."

Fiona gasped, sitting bolt upright on the couch as her eyes reread the message on her phone for the third time, then the fourth. The confirmation was still there. Unchanged. Real.

Her lips parted slowly, disbelief melting into something dangerously close to delight.

Across the room, Venus, who had been standing in the corner with her head bowed and tears streaking down her face, snapped her gaze toward Fiona. The shift in Fiona’s expression was unmistakable. The panic that had ruled her face moments ago had bloomed into something sharp and triumphant.

"W–who agreed, ma’am?" Venus asked timidly.

Even after being screamed at, humiliated, and blamed for everything that had gone wrong, she still found the courage to speak. It was a mistake.

Fiona’s head turned slowly, her smile vanishing as her eyes locked onto Venus with lethal precision. The glare alone was enough to make Venus shrink back, her gaze dropping instantly to the floor.

If only she had been more careful.

If only Venus had noticed Henry sneaking into the suite that night. If only she had stopped him from recording everything.

Fiona’s fingers curled tightly around her phone as the familiar dread coiled in her stomach. For days, she had lived with the fear of Daniel making a move, exposing her, destroying everything she had built. Yet until now, he had remained silent. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮

Watching.

Waiting.

And Fiona refused to sit still any longer.

If Daniel was playing a long game, then she would flip the board.

She had reached out to the one person who had always lingered in the shadows. The one name that never failed to surface whenever secrets were traded and power quietly shifted hands.

DarkKnight_07.

"I swear," Fiona said coldly, her voice dropping to a venomous whisper as she turned fully toward Venus, "if you utter a single word about this, I will cut your tongue out."

Venus flinched, a soft sob escaping her before she could stop it.

"Now get out," Fiona snapped. "And do not show me your face again."

The finality in her tone sent Venus scrambling. She didn’t hesitate this time. She turned and ran, nearly tripping over herself as she fled the suite, desperate to put distance between herself and her manic boss.

The door slammed shut and silence followed.

Fiona looked back down at her phone, her lips slowly curving into a smile that held no warmth.

"DarkKnight_07," she murmured. "It’s time to finally meet"

Her mind raced as she stared at the screen, replaying the conversation again and again, almost unable to believe she had finally gotten him to agree.

DarkKnight_07 was on board.

And the key had been Daniel’s biggest weakness.

Anna.

Fiona leaned back against the couch, a slow, calculating smile spreading across her face. She knew DarkKnight was a die-hard admirer, obsessed enough to watch from the shadows, to gather information, to protect what he believed in. All she had done was nudge that obsession in the right direction.

Using him was easy.

Using him to destroy Daniel would be even easier.

If DarkKnight exposed Daniel’s relationship with Anna publicly, the backlash alone would be devastating. The media outrage, the questions, the whispers about power, manipulation, hidden relationship. It would not just hurt Daniel’s reputation. It would suffocate it.

And Anna would be dragged down with him.

Fiona exhaled slowly, her fingers tightening around her phone.

She had prepared for this moment ever since her plan to trap Daniel had failed. Drugging him was supposed to be her golden ticket. One night, one mistake, and she would have owned him forever. He would have been forced to protect her, to keep her close, to obey.

Instead, the script flipped.

Daniel had survived. Worse, he had evidence. Enough to erase her image completely if he chose to release it.

So Fiona chose war.

"If I go down," she muttered to herself, "I am taking you with me."

Exposing Daniel and Anna was not just revenge. It was strategy. The outrage would keep Daniel busy, distracted, scrambling to contain the fallout. It would buy her time. Control the narrative. Shift the spotlight away from her crimes and onto his secrets.

"Killing two birds with one arrow," she murmured with a dark chuckle. "Impressive, Fiona."

She did not see the flaw in her plan nor did not realize that DarkKnight_07 was not some mindless admirer she could bend at will.

She had been so focused on outplaying Daniel that she failed to notice the truth.

By choosing to manipulate DarkKnight, Fiona had unknowingly stepped into the territory of someone just as dangerous, just as unhinged, and far less forgiving than Daniel himself.

And by the time she realized it, it would already be too late.

***

Daniel stepped into the bedroom quietly, loosening his tie as his eyes went straight to the bed. Anna was already asleep, curled on her side, hair fanned across the pillow, her breathing slow and even.

For a fleeting moment, disappointment flickered through him.

A foolish part of him had half-expected her to appear the way she had last time—bold, mischievous, completely unapologetic about derailing his meeting and leaving him helpless before his delegates. The memory made his jaw tighten.

He had ended that meeting abruptly, dragged by his own lack of restraint, giving her exactly what she wanted. And even now, the thought of her touch stirred something restless in him.

But reality settled in as he watched her sleep. She looked peaceful, unguarded, far from the teasing wife who had undone him so easily. He released a slow breath, the tension easing from his shoulders.

Dragging his feet to the bed, Daniel slipped in beside her. Habit made him study her face closely, checking for any sign that she was pretending, waiting to catch him off guard. But the soft snore that escaped her lips ruined that suspicion entirely.

A faint smile tugged at his mouth.

Abandoning his plans, he reached for her, pulling her gently closer until her back fit against his chest. Her body shifted instinctively, settling into him without waking.

Daniel closed his eyes, one arm secure around her waist, the earlier frustration fading as sleep finally claimed him too. But little did he knew, his secret identity was finally exposed and what was waiting next was something he didn’t expect.
