Rebirth: The New Bride Wants A Divorce-Chapter 410: What is all this
"And you don’t remember anything?" Ethan asked quietly once she finished. "How is that even possible?"
Kathrine looked down, rubbing her palms together as if trying to wipe something invisible away. "With me?" she let out a hollow sigh. "Anything is possible."
Her shoulders sagged, the fight draining out of her all at once.
Her life had been strange ever since the accident. Ever since the day she ran from her wedding. The same day the nightmares had begun.
"It wasn’t even something dramatic," she said softly. "I just slipped in the shower. The floor was wet, and I lost my balance." She shook her head. "But I hit my head hard. I blacked out."
Ethan listened without interrupting, his jaw tight.
"When I woke up," she continued, "things weren’t... normal anymore. Small things felt wrong. Memories felt out of place. And then the dreams started."
She lifted her eyes to him. "You know that day at your house? I wasn’t overreacting. I really saw myself burning."
Ethan frowned, the memory rushing back with uncomfortable clarity. The sudden flames. Kathrine’s screams. The way she had clawed at her own skin as if trying to put out a fire no one else could see. She had been shaking, drenched in sweat, crying for him to save her.
It had terrified him.
"But you didn’t burn," he said carefully.
Kathrine groaned, frustration spilling over as she ran a hand through her hair. "That’s exactly what I’m saying, Ethan. I wasn’t burned. Nothing touched me." Her voice cracked. "And yet I felt it. I saw myself on fire. Just like in those nightmares that won’t let me sleep."
She pushed herself off the bed and began pacing the room, her steps uneven. "Every time I close my eyes, it’s the same thing. Flames. Heat. Pain. So real it feels like it’s happening all over again."
Ethan stood quickly and followed her, his expression dark with concern.
"I never told anyone about the nightmares," she said, her voice rising. "Not Roseline. Not Daniel. No one. That night I called you was the first time I broke." She stopped pacing and faced him. "I woke up from it again, gasping for air. And no matter how hard I tried to sleep, the images wouldn’t leave."
Her hands curled into fists at her sides. "So if you think I’m losing my mind," she said bitterly, "just say it. Because some days, it feels like I already have."
Ethan reached her in two strides and caught her wrists gently, forcing her to still. "No," he said firmly. "I don’t think you’re losing your mind."
She searched his face, doubt etched deep in her eyes.
"I think something happened to you," he continued, softer now. "Something real. And whatever it is, it’s bleeding into your memories in ways neither of us understands yet."
Kathrine’s breath hitched.
"You’re not crazy," he said again, slower, as if he needed her to hear every word. "So please don’t say that"
Kathrine felt the storm raging inside her chest begin to slow, the chaos easing just enough for her to breathe again. The tight pressure around her heart loosened, and before she could stop herself, tears burned at the back of her eyes.
"I want answers, Ethan," she whispered. "And I want someone to believe me... because I don’t believe in myself anymore."
Ethan did not hesitate.
He stepped forward and pulled her into a deep, steady embrace, his arms wrapping around her as if anchoring her in place. "I trust you, Kathrine," he said without doubt. "Whatever you’re saying, I believe you. And whatever is troubling you, we’ll find the truth together."
Her lips trembled.
She blinked rapidly, trying to force the tears back, but the effort was useless. The moment she gave up, they spilled freely, sliding down her cheeks as quiet sobs escaped her throat. She buried her face into his chest, clutching his shirt as if letting go would pull her back into the darkness she had been drowning in.
The tears eased something inside her. The numbness that had wrapped around her emotions before he arrived slowly cracked, replaced by a raw ache that hurt but felt real.
For the first time in days, she did not feel completely hollow.
Kathrine knew better than to turn to her parents. Confronting them would be pointless. Her father would dismiss everything with cold logic, brushing it aside as imagination or stress. And Roseline would do what she always did.
Lie.
Smoothly. Convincingly. Without hesitation.
They had been doing it for years, hiding things behind half-truths and silence. And now, standing there in Ethan’s arms, Kathrine realized just how little she trusted them.
She had no idea who else to believe anymore.
But as Ethan held her, steady and unwavering, one thing became painfully clear.
Even if the truth was buried deep, even if it hurt more than the lies, she was no longer searching for it alone.

Meanwhile, inside the Clafford Mansion, Daniel sat in his study, surrounded by silence and unfinished work.
At least, that was what he kept telling himself.
He had put Anna to sleep himself, waiting until her breathing evened out, until the tension finally left her face. Only then had he retreated to his study, convincing himself he still had work to finish.
But sleep refused to come to him.
Now, seated behind his desk with documents spread neatly before him, Daniel found himself staring at the same page for the tenth time without absorbing a single word. His thoughts kept circling back to one thing.
Jason’s words.
He exhaled slowly, rubbing a hand over his face. Jason had been careful. Professional. He had not disclosed anything he was not supposed to. Yet Daniel knew better than to believe everything was fine just because it had not been said out loud.
Things were never simple.
Not when it came to him. Not when it came to the people connected to him.
If Kathrine had gone looking for psychological help, it meant something was wrong. Something serious enough for her to swallow her pride and seek answers from a professional.
Daniel leaned back in his chair, eyes drifting to the dark window beside him.
Does Anna know?
The question surfaced uninvited.
He frowned slightly. Anna told him almost everything. Her worries, her insecurities, even the smallest things that bothered her. And yet, she had not mentioned Kathrine once. Not a single word about her sister struggling or seeking help.
That alone unsettled him.
Daniel didn’t realized how long he stared at the window until his eyelid turned heavy and he closed his eyes.
"What is all this!" suddenly a voice in his head roared and Daniel found himself standing inside his room angering and fuming eyeing the person before him.
