Rebirth: The New Bride Wants A Divorce-Chapter 423: Your turn now
Daniel was midway through a meeting when he noticed Henry step into the room. His brows arched slightly at the sight of his aide’s expression.
Henry leaned in, keeping his voice low. "Boss, Mr. Bennett wants to talk to you."
Daniel’s gaze flicked toward the projector. The presenter halted mid sentence the instant their eyes met.
"Let’s continue later," Daniel announced calmly.
The room emptied within seconds.
Once they were alone, Daniel reached out and took the phone from Henry.
"Hello—"
"How dare you betray me, Daniel!" Hugo’s roar thundered through the speaker, loud enough that Daniel instinctively pulled the phone away from his ear.
Henry pressed his lips together, watching his boss closely. He had seen Daniel angry before, but this was different. When Daniel slowly brought the phone back to his ear, Henry held his breath.
The calm on Daniel’s face was unsettling.
"Betray you?" Daniel repeated softly.
Henry’s stomach tightened.
Daniel said nothing else for a moment, listening as Hugo ranted on the other end. His expression did not change, but his eyes darkened, sharp and lethal, as if something deep within him had been awakened.
When he finally spoke again, his voice was smooth, controlled. Almost cold.
"You should be careful with your accusations, Mr. Bennett," Daniel said.
But whatever Hugo said next made Daniel’s jaw tighten imperceptibly.
Henry swallowed hard, shrinking under the weight of the deadly calm radiating from his boss. He had seen rage, fury, and even violence before. But this quiet intensity was far more terrifying.

Norma sat in the sun drenched garden of her estate, porcelain teacup resting lightly between her fingers. The morning air was calm, birds chirping softly around her, as if the world itself was unaware of the storm brewing.
The sound of hurried footsteps reached her ears.
She paused mid sip and looked up as a maid approached.
"Madam," the woman said carefully, "the young master is here."
The corner of Norma’s lips curled upward, her smile slow and knowing.
"Send him in," she said, her voice smooth.
The next thing she heard was Daniel’s sharp voice cutting through the calm of the garden.
"Did you ask Mark to withdraw the project?"
Norma did not flinch. She slowly turned toward him, her expression composed, almost amused.
"Aren’t you going to sit?" she asked lightly.
Daniel remained standing.
"Why would I sit," he snapped, "when you decided to interfere behind my back?" His eyes burned as he stepped closer. "Why did you ask Mark to stop the supplies and terminate the project?"
Norma lifted her teacup unhurriedly, taking a small sip as if his anger were nothing more than background noise.
"Because I finally decided to step into the company’s matters," she replied calmly. "I realized I’ve been ignoring a few things for far too long. It’s time I returned to the position I was appointed to."
Daniel laughed sharply, the sound void of humor.
"You mean the position you abandoned years ago?"
Her eyes flicked up, sharp now. "Watch your tone, Daniel."
"You should have already pulled that project back," Norma continued, unfazed. "But you didn’t. And that makes me question whether I should still trust you with decisions of this scale."
Daniel’s jaw clenched so tightly it ached. He could tell exactly what she was doing. She was questioning his authority, testing how far she could push without consequences.
"Trust?" he echoed coldly. "You think this is about trust?"
He took another step forward. The distance between them shrank, tension thickening the air.
"You went behind my back," Daniel said, his voice dangerously controlled. "You contacted my executives. You halted operations without a single discussion. Do you have any idea what that does to the company’s stability?"
Norma set her cup down with deliberate care.
"You’ve been too blinded by your wife," she said sharply, "to see what’s right in front of you."
That did it.
Daniel’s control snapped.
"Do not bring my wife into this," he growled. "Not when you’re the one playing games."
Norma’s eyes hardened. "Kathrine has already retrieved much of the Bennett Group’s deteriorating assets. She’s close to completing the project. Too close. And instead of stopping it when you should have, you let it continue."
"And what exactly is your problem with that?" Daniel demanded. "She turned a failing division profitable. She did what your so called capable teams failed to do."
Norma scoffed. "She’s crossing lines she shouldn’t even know exist."
Daniel pursed his lips, the truth of Norma’s words settling heavily in his chest. She was right. He was not supposed to be lenient with the Bennetts. But with everything unfolding between them, he did not want to make a move he might later regret.
"I have them under control," Daniel said at last. "Even if she manages to retrieve everything from the Bennetts, I already have plans in place to make sure they never fully succeed."
The words were firm, calculated.
Norma, however, merely chuckled.
The sound made Daniel’s brows knit together. He knew that laugh far too well. Norma could harbor deep resentment toward those she despised, and once she decided to destroy someone, she did not stop halfway.
"Then let’s talk when you’ve already succeeded," she said coolly. "Until then, do not object to my decision."
Daniel’s jaw clenched. Her dismissal was blatant, deliberate. For a moment, it seemed as though he might argue further, but instead he fell silent, his expression unreadable.
The quiet stretched.
"Fine," Daniel said finally. "If that’s what you want."
Norma lifted her chin, satisfied.
"But," Daniel continued, his voice steady yet edged with steel, "don’t blame me when I go against you."
Her head snapped toward him, eyes sharpening instantly.
"Are you threatening me?" she asked, her tone sharp enough to cut.
Daniel met her gaze without hesitation.
"No," he replied calmly. "I’m simply warning you."
The air between them grew cold, heavy with unspoken consequences as Daniel turned to leave while Norma glared at him and pulling out her phone and making a call.
"Your turn now" she said before ending the call while her eyes appeared cold enough to freeze anyone.
