Rebirth: The unfavored Princess is the Tyrant King's favorite-Chapter 102: Flashback: Curse
The fight between the two princes was intense. They had broken out of the temple, and parts of the temple showed cracked walls, and the pillar looked broken with debris that was falling at some parts due to how fierce they were fighting.
"The people see you as a traitor who stole his brother’s wife; they will never accept a bastard like you as their emperor," David spat.
"Is that what you think? You can continue deceiving yourself. You and I both know I’ll make a better ruler than you," Nicholas said with a confident smirk.
"You will always have my leftovers; the throne was mine to begin with. I’m the true son of my father; you are just a bastard who doesn’t know who his father is, and Luciana, I had her first; she’s just my discarded woman," David said provocatively.
"There’s no rule that makes me unfit to be the next emperor, and don’t ever say my wife’s name with that filthy mouth of yours again. You were her first mistake, but I’m going to be her last and forever love, the one to erase all the bad memories she had with you," Nicholas said and didn’t waste his time talking and struck his sword at him.
The sound of metal clanging against each other as they both charged at each other with bloodlust in their eyes was deafening.
David was barely holding on; each blow and strike he received from Nicholas was deadly and fast. He realized Nicholas had been previously playing with him. He was now seriously fighting him, and one could tell from how the weather conditions kept fluctuating that David was in hot water.
He felt himself being crushed under Nicholas’ sword, but he tried to hold on with all his might. He kept looking into the sky as if he was waiting for something or someone, but after no signs of what he was looking for, he became desperate.
In his desperation, he began to swing the sword mindlessly with no rhythm, using the wind that resonated with his rage to his advantage.
Nicholas effortlessly dodged all his attacks causing David to look like a clown since his sword would occasionally slice at nothing. His breathing became labored, and he was losing control.
After another forceful strike from Nicholas, David lost his grip on his sword, and it fell onto the ground; he was completely at Nicholas’ mercy.
The rainfall became even heavier when David fell onto his knees; it was as if the rain was responding to his emotions.
David’s magical ability was controlling the weather conditions at will, and most times the weather usually responded to his emotions.
Blood from the slashes he received from Nicholas’ blade mixed with the rain was flowing on the ground around him.
Nicholas approached David and sneered, "Is that all you got?"
He positioned his sword against David’s neck, but he hesitated.
"You can kill me, but you’re no match for the one who is coming," David arrogantly said in the next moment.
Nicholas felt a sense of danger behind him and at the same time he heard Luciana’s shrill voice,
"Watch out, Nicholas!" She cried.
Nicholas instinctively moved to the side, only for a spear to whisp past him, and then a man sitting on a dragon emerged through the rain.
Nicholas had no time to prepare when the dragon breathed fire in his direction.
He also raised his hands and repelled the dragon’s fire with his fire, and the guards, ministers, and even David stared at the scene in shock.
"Lancelot, stop the dragon. What are you doing?" Luciana yelled at his brother, but he continued to attack Nicholas with the dragon helping him.
"He sullied my sister’s name. He made you a sinner; I cannot forgive him." Lancelot refused Luciana’s request.
Luciana was in the secret garden Nicholas had told them to find shelter and wait for him when she began to feel lightheaded all of a sudden. She closed her eyes and took in deep breaths to become clearheaded, only to have a vision.
There was fire everywhere, and there was a dragon in the sky, and the palace was in ruins. But Nicholas was nowhere to be found. She searched through her vision for his silhouette but didn’t find him, and then she came to her senses.
She had rushed to the scene knowing it could only be the handiwork of her brother. David had brainwashed him into thinking Nicholas was the villain, and he believed every single word.
Luciana watched in horror as Nicholas leaped into the air and struck the dragon with his sword, but nothing happened. Of course, the blade of his sword had no chance against the scales of the dragon.
Lancelot was also not giving him any chance to gain the upper hand; he launched himself at Nicholas’s sword, slashing down on him, and with the dragon treating Nicholas as its prey and cornering Nicholas, he was losing.
Nicholas tried to focus and defend himself from the attack from both sides, but amidst Luciana’s cries to her brother, he became distracted, and Lancelot took advantage of his distraction, found an opening, and swung his fist at Nicholas.
He tried to dodge, but it was too late; the impact caused his body to fly like a kite and crash against the pillars, causing the already broken pillar to come down as the debris fell on him.
David saw Nicholas had fallen and immediately made his way to where he had landed, his sword held in a way that showed he was going to kill him.
He stabbed his sword toward Nicholas, but he rolled away, making David miss him, but he didn’t relent and followed him again, and violently thrust his sword forward, only for him to feel a sword stab through his back.
Luciana had seen David’s actions and had grabbed a sword from a fallen soldier, even though she was scared; by the time she realized it, to save Nicholas from David, he had stabbed him from behind. The sword went through his back and came out of his stomach.
David turned to face her, and Luciana’s heart skipped a beat at his gaze; it was full of hurt, betrayal, anger, and a lot of other emotions Luciana couldn’t describe.
"I...I’m... I was just trying to make you stop."
The words tumbled out of her mouth before she could stop herself.
And then she walked towards Nicholas, who rose from the debris and stood in front of him and looked stubbornly at his brother. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
"You can only kill him if you kill me first," Luciana declared, her voice full of authority.
David began to laugh, blood spurting out of his mouth as he did so, and then he began to walk to the temple on wobbly feet. He pulled the sword out of his body, and his knees buckled. But he continued to drag himself towards the little wishing pond in the middle of the temple.
The wishing pond looked clear, and one could see a lot of silver coins and gold coins at the bottom. Some looked rusty, and some looked new. David had never believed in the deities, but as he watched that determined look on Luciana’s face that wasn’t meant for him but for Nicholas, he hated her.
He hated both of them, and as his hatred grew, the malicious aura surrounding him grew, and every blood that gushed out of his wound as he moved towards the wishing pond combined with the powerful malicious intent he had towards Nicholas and Luciana, even the atmosphere began to change.
The winds howled, and dark and heavy clouds settled in the sky as if was nighttime already. David pulled out a dagger from his sleeves and held his long hair in a strong grip with the sharp dagger. He cut off his hair at the point where it had been tied and dropped it in the pond.
The hair floated in the previously clear pond, making it dark all of a sudden. He let out a loud howl like an animal and screamed his next words like an oath.
"Deities of Windermere, the gods of Gloryland, let your justice prevail. Luciana and Nicholas committed adultery when she was still my wife, just as I’ve severed my hair from my scalp; may this two-adulterous-pairs relationship be severed until eternity."
David’s words had just landed when a loud thunder accompanied by lightning struck the temple.
"For he who converted his brother’s wife, may they never reunite even after reincarnation. May their souls would scatter like the wind and be each other’s doom. Eternal estrangement is what they shall experience, and their fruit shall die young, for their love is an abomina..." Nicholas, who had seen what David was doing, walked towards him, and this time, he pushed his sword through his heart.
"It shall never happen!" Nicholas growled, but another thunderstruck after his words, and this time, it struck the temple with a loud bang, and the temple grounds began to shake like an earthquake.
Everyone began to run from the temple as it looked like it was going to collapse.
As they began to run in different directions, the temple came down like rocks mixed with sand, burying David’s body along with it.
There was a loud crash sound, and then it was followed by complete silence.
