Rebirth: The unfavored Princess is the Tyrant King's favorite-Chapter 117: Because of you!
The dark forest,
"Greetings, great one; I came bearing bad news: the soul of the Dragon Prince is no longer in the spiritual solitary confinement cell. My minions are yet to find out how he escaped. Please punish me for my negligence; I deserve to die," a man in fiery red robes said and bowed respectfully before King Emric.
At first glance, one would mistake him for a woman; he had long black hair, his physique under the fluttering robes looked lean, and he had long eyelashes and eyes that looked naturally seductive like a vixen.
You could say he looked beautiful rather than handsome. He was Lord Syreese, the overlord of the spiritual solitary confinement cell, and his only task was to watch over the locked-up souls and wicked immortals.
Sometimes, he was so bored with having nothing to do in this part of the world that his favorite pastime was to go on adventures in the mortal world, messing with the humans and having fun.
It was during one of such escapades that he left the cell unattended, only to return and find one of the gates of cells was hanging open, and the dragon prince’s soul was nowhere to be found.
King Emric was in his dragon form, and his gigantic body was twisted and turned like a snake’s, with its belly as tough as a clam’s shell, lying on the plush dark green grass in slumber.
His eyes that were shut flew open, and his usually golden eyes looked blue and cold as glaciers with a fierce glint like a demon’s.
He raised his head and watched Lord Syreese as if he were a fool. He stood on its front feet that resembled a tiger’s, and his sharp claws, which resembled that of an eagle, transformed him to look like a human.
"Did you go to the mortal realm again?" King Emric asked straightforwardly, and Lord Syreese felt as if the dragon king was trying to suffocate him with the overbearing pressure he was exuding.
’Ha! They were both deities, but the dragon king always treated him like he was beneath him.’ Even though he was unwilling, he could only keep allowing himself to be bullied; it was true that King Emric was much more powerful than him.
"I’m sorry, Great One; I didn’t know my absence would cause something so serious; I had only left for a day..."
"Enough!" King Emric cut him off and added,
"Have you sent your hellhounds to go and find him?"
"I tried, Great One, but we have not been able to find him. I think he’s...he’s...he cannot be found because he...he might..."
"Would you go straight to the point and stop acting so foolish? Of all the time I’ve known you, why didn’t I realize you were such a fool?" King Emric barked; he had an inkling about what Lord Syreese wanted to say; it’s just that he hoped that wasn’t what actually happened.
Due to his suspicion, his mood was particularly bad.
"I think the prince’s soul cannot be tracked because he is currently possessing a living body, Great One," Lord Syreese answered. He didn’t want to get on the man’s bad side.
King Emric’s gaze dangerously narrowed at Lord Syreese’s words.
’That was exactly what he was worried about. The longer the soul stayed inside a living body, the more difficult it was to extract it or banish it. There had been instances where the soul would completely overtake the original body and possess it as theirs.
"Go with one of your hellhounds and find a way to enter the Gloryland palace; get close to the eldest prince; I’m sure you might find traces of his soul there," King Emric said.
’The only obsession of the dragon prince was the dark princess. He highly suspected that the soul of the dragon prince was exactly where the princess was.’
"I will immediately get to it, great one," Lord Syreese said and bowed. In the next moment, he directly disappeared from sight.
King Emric stared straight ahead of him into the forest trees as if he were watching something and lowered his gaze. But after a few seconds, he spoke out,
"Are you planning to keep hiding in the shadows? You know I can already feel your presence," King Emric said.
"As expected, nothing can be hidden from you. You just choose to ignore it or act nonchalant if you have no interest in it," a woman walked forward and said.
Like Lord Syreese, who had just left, this woman was wearing scarlet red robes and had a fairy-like air around her.
She looked beautiful in a bold and enchanting way. It could be said her beauty alone could bring men to their knees—maybe except one man.
She had alluring eyes that looked seductive and doe-like at the same time.
She also had the fairest and smoothest skin one could possess, and her naturally full lips were red in color, matching the red symbol resembling a peony flower on her forehead.
"To what do I owe this visit, Harriet? Or are you going to rub it in my face about how I have a son who bolted the first chance he got?" King Emric asked coldly, his gaze looking stern.
"I merely came to tell you to watch the consequences of your actions. This is what happens when you decide to do as you wish," Harriet said provocatively.
King Emric let out a "hmph" at her words.
"You must be happy seeing me in such a predicament because I rejected you as my fiancé," he said.
"You are my first love, the man I’ve loved for centuries. I will not be happy about your misfortune. My heart hurts anytime something bad happens to the shadows of your son you have been creating to fix this recurring fate."
King Emric chuckled as if he’d heard a joke.
"You’ve never had a heart in the first place. How would your heart hurt?" King Emric mused.
Harriet stared at the man she had loved all her life; it even felt like an obsession, and a thin smile graced her lips.
"Does it make you happy to say such words to me? Why? Because you decided to birth a son with a human instead of me, and I also created a daughter with a human, you can’t take it lying down?" Harriet spat.
"You were the one who decided to reject our bond just because you were a water dragon and I was a fire dragon. I just wanted to prove to you how water and fire can coexist," Harriet added.
"By lying? Both of us knew they fell in love in the first place because they had no idea their powers would fiercely clash against each other when they reached their full potential." King Emric said.
"Perhaps they might have found a way around it, but you chose to meddle. Do you think I don’t know you were the one that awakened the darkness within the princess two millennia ago?"
"It was you who made her so vengeful that she became just like you. An emotionless person without any heart. She lost her humanity because of you!" King Emric thundered.
