Chapter 121: Here, let me feed you

"Here, let me feed you," Nicholas said, staring at her with eager eyes.

Everyone, including Luciana, stared at him in shock.

’What was he doing in public!’

If Luciana disliked anything, it would be these kinds of public shows that put her in the spotlight. Luciana could feel all eyes on her due to Nicholas’s actions. They were all waiting for her to respond to his show of affection.

Among those who were watching the situation unfold, three eyes were particularly intense and looked as if they were about to drill a hole through Luciana’s body.

The first person who found this scene an eyesore was Princess Agatha, Second Prince David’s little sister and the emperor’s favorite daughter.

She was so angry that even with her maids trying to hold her back and telling her not to act rashly, she was already a few feet away from the Eldest Prince’s table since she was approaching the couple at full speed.

Second Prince David was also watching the scene with hands clenched so hard that his knuckles had turned white inside his long and wide sleeves, which had hidden them from view.

His jaw was clenched and set in stone, and his eyes were blazing with envy and fury.

His only consolation was that soon Luciana would leave with him. She would not have to endure his tyrant of a brother anymore. From David’s point of view, Nicholas was the one who was forcefully keeping Luciana by his side.

He briefly caught a glimpse of Luciana’s body, which was full of bruises and love marks, and knew what his monster of a brother must be doing to her under his roof.

Even right now, he saw how unhappy Luciana looked sitting by his side, but as usual, he was trying to force her to do things on his terms and was force-feeding her.

General Mathias, the feared and renowned commander-in-chief of the Florendel army, also watched Luciana with a strange gaze.

’Could two people who are ages apart resemble each other like that?’ he thought.

"Alina..." he whispered under his breath, his tone full of melancholy.

Amirion, who happened to be passing behind General Mathias, tripped, hitting his foot against the pillar, hearing the name of the missing dragon princess.

His eyes followed the general’s line of sight, and he realized he was staring at the princess consort.

’Does this man know about the whereabouts of Princess Alina? Should he ask him? Won’t that look suspicious?’ Amirion thought, and then as if he realized something, his gaze moved from General Mathias to Luciana once again.

’Wait, wasn’t this the commander in chief of the army of the princess consort’s country? Why did he stare at the princess as if he’s only seeing her for the first time today?’

Amirion realized his standing behind the general and the crown prince of Florendel’s table might draw attention to himself, so he was just about to walk away when he heard the crown prince of Florendel speak.

"You have been staring at my adopted sister ever since she approached our table to greet me. If I didn’t know you, I’d have thought you had finally fallen in love. Is there something I should know?" Robert asked and sipped his tea.

His posture was elegant and refined, like he was performing an act.

"Hush, crown prince, walls have ears. You should know what to say in public," General Mathias warned, but his voice still carried a hint of indulgence; it was like that of a father scolding his son.

Their voices were low, but due to Amirion’s origins and his magic, he had a great sense of hearing.

"Don’t dodge my question. Why are you so interested in my sister?" Robert asked again.

"She just looks like someone from my past, but I don’t think it’s her. It’s been 18 years since I last saw her. I don’t think she would look the same now. I guess I’m just a little surprised to see someone look exactly like her in front of me," General Mathias said.

Robert raised his cup to his lips again and took another sip of the tea.

"Is Godfather talking about the woman who was rumored to have made you quit the army and your prestigious position as the commander-in-chief and made you leave Florendel? Are you saying that woman looks like my sister?" Robert said, looking like he was in the mood to gossip.

"You and your father must enjoy gossiping about my private life behind my back," General Mathias said in feigned anger and turned to walk away, leaving a few words behind.

"I’m going out for some fresh air."

Robert chuckled at his godfather’s behavior and resumed drinking his tea, his eyes intently watching the scene at the eldest prince and "his sister’s" table.

Amirion finally put two and two together after eavesdropping, only to hear a thunderous roar from the eldest Prince’s table.

"Do you wish for death?" Nicholas snarled, and Princess Agatha flinched, her wide eyes immediately glistening with tears at Nicholas’ intimidating aura.

"Eldest brother, I only did what I did because I didn’t want you to lose face, but why are you angry at me and not at her?" Princess Agatha said, pointing at Luciana.

Her voice sounded aggrieved, as if she had been bullied; she looked like she was on the verge of crying.

Luciana stared at the spoiled brat in front of her and nearly rolled her eyes. ’Like mother, like daughter.’

This was one of the reasons she dreaded living in the main palace. The palace was full of snakes and white lotuses. Princess Agatha was the perfect example.

Even in her past life, Luciana had noticed how this princess liked to twist situations and make things turn in her favor.

After feeling countless gazes on her when Nicholas brought the cookie to her lips, she decided to take it from him and put it in her mouth herself, but before her fingers would graze the cookie, she didn’t know where Princess Agatha appeared from and snatched the cookie from Nicholas, stuffing it into her mouth, and smiled at her with a smug look as if mocking her and then turned to Nicholas and said,

"Eldest brother, this is so sweet; can you feed me another one?"

Luciana saw how fast Nicholas’s face turned from sunny to freezing cold in a matter of seconds. He didn’t even consider the atmosphere and snarled at the princess.

"Do you wish for death?"

He had said it as if he wanted to kill the princess right then and there.

Thanks to that, everyone’s attention was on her as if blaming her for causing a scene. Luciana nearly scoffed. ’What had she done?’

And after that stupid excuse that Agatha gave, saying she was doing it to make him save face, it made matters worse.

But she knew she must diffuse the situation. She must calm down this raging tempest. She gently placed her hand on the back of Nick’s hand and gently squeezed him. It was a silent plea that he should calm down and not blow things out of proportion.

But to Luciana’s dismay, not only did Nicholas fling her hand away, causing her face to fall at his action, but he stared at Princess Agatha and commanded authoritatively.

"Apologize to my wife!"

When Princess Agatha saw Nicholas fling away Luciana’s hold on him, her heart swelled in happiness, thinking she had been right; the prince was just pretending and putting on a show because there were people around.

But her joy was short-lived when she heard him commanding her to apologize.

All her life, she had always known her eldest brother was cold and aloof. He hardly smiled or showed affection towards others.

When she was young and Prince Nicholas had stayed with them in her mother’s palace for a few years, he was always alienated and hardly spoke, but it was due to these things that she really wanted to have his attention.

He was so handsome and looked untouchable even from afar.

Whether it was how he spoke just a few words each day or his bleak hazel eyes, he exuded a powerful aura that even from a young age he looked like the perfect candidate to succeed their father or how he effortlessly exuded a masculinity that had to miss, Agatha only knew she wanted him to notice her.

Due to this, anytime she heard there was a marriage alliance between the eldest prince and any woman, she became extremely sad and hated the women without reason.

Seeing how Prince Nicholas, who was like the sun in her eyes, so high up in the sky that she couldn’t reach even though she had the title of the first Princess of Gloryland, was bending over backward to accommodate his princess consort, she felt a pang of jealousy in her heart.

She knew he was just putting on an act, but must he take it so far? Why must she apologize to this woman who only had a pretty face but had nothing to offer?

She had even found out that she didn’t even possess any magic, unlike her, who had the gift of healing.

"Eldest brother, why should I apologize?" Princess Agatha said in a sad voice as if she had suffered great injustice.

"Your Highness, I think you should forgive Princess Agatha this one time; she’s still young and might have acted impulsively for a moment there," Lady Evelyn said, and Luciana rolled her eyes.

’What was she up to again?’
