Rebirth: The unfavored Princess is the Tyrant King's favorite-Chapter 44: A wicked heart
"I don’t care about the others; you should know how important she is to me. Did you think I wouldn’t kill you if something had happened to her because of your stupidity?" He growled, and Eric nearly jumped in fright. He had never seen the prince looking so bloodthirsty and angry like this before.
"I hope you didn’t leave any traces behind. If anyone traces what happened on the streets today to me, you would wish you were dead. Get out of my presence," David snarled, and Eric hurriedly got up and fled the room as if he was chased by the devil.
David was in a bad mood; he hated the fact that he wasn’t able to complete his conversation with Luciana because of the interruption from the maid and the guard. He must take her away from the prince before it’s too late.
Even though what he had told her was true, his major concern was how Nicholas was always so close to her. He knew Nicholas wasn’t one to care about his women, but from the rumors, he treated Luciana differently, and it had begun to spread throughout the palace.
Luciana’s initial goal of taking revenge on Nicholas might change if he continues being so good to her. She was a woman, after all, and after her parent’s death, she must be feeling all alone. Her initial hatred for him might change if Nicholas continued treating her well; he mustn’t allow that to happen.
Luciana was his and his alone. He must make her understand it was best to abandon her plans and go away. He would slay her enemies for her; she just had to sit and watch.
He would also make sure she served Nicholas divorce papers before helping her to escape. He would later marry her and make her his woman after he successfully became the crown prince. It wasn’t the first time in the history of the Windermere continent that two brothers had married the same woman.
He must talk to her before they return to their various manors. He must seize the chance when Nicholas isn’t in the capital and have a good talk with Luciana.
"Take this and give it to the gatekeeper," Prince David said to one of his men, giving him a big pouch full of gold coins.
"Tell him to make sure the princess consort doesn’t gain entrance to any of the rooms. He can make any excuses but he should make sure she can only share this room with me. Don’t make any mistakes," he instructed and poured himself some jasmine tea.

Outside the auction house, Luciana decided to explore the streets for a while before going to the auction house since the auction would begin at noon. There was about an hour and a half left. Luciana happily toured the streets, engrossed in all the street food, the clothing and accessories stalls, and the loud yelling of the vendors, and didn’t realize all the attention she was garnering.
If not for her marriage to Nicholas, she would never have set foot in Gloryland. So when she saw the bustling streets and the beautiful architecture and how everything looked far advanced compared to Serenevale, she couldn’t help but admire how huge the capital was. Gloryland was indeed a true giant when compared to the other countries.
On the day she first arrived in Gloryland, she had passed through the capital to the palace, but after journeying on the bumpy road in an uncomfortable carriage for about two weeks, she was too tired to admire the capital at the time.
Also, in her previous life, after she tried to escape, she lost the freedom to experience things like this and was always stuck in the prince’s manor and later the palace under strict supervision all the time until she lost her life, but the situation was entirely different today.
She explored stall after stall, buying anything and everything without asking for a reduction; Dora nearly died from over-talking and complaining, but Luciana only did what pleased her. Esther also followed after her, with Dominic keeping watch from afar because Luciana instructed him to keep a distance from her.
Lord Algrith lay lazily in her arms, looking cute and chubby, causing everyone to take a look at her again anytime she passed them by, especially after hearing about how generous she was; everyone wanted her to buy from them.
After tasting most of the street foods, together with Lord Algrith, Dora, and Esther, she stopped in front of a stall that sold hair accessories and make-up products.
"How much is this hairpin?" Luciana asked the owner.
The stall owner, who could already tell she was rich from her expensive clothes and her maids following her, decided to take advantage of the situation.
"5 gold coins, my lady," he said, and both Dora’s and Esther’s eyes popped open in shock.
"Esther, Dora, both of you should pick two each; pick the ones you like; it’s my gift to you," Luciana said, only for the both of them to shake their heads.
"My lady, we don’t need any hairpins. We are okay," they both chorused.
"What are you hesitating about? Don’t worry about the money; I insist," she said, but they still shook their heads.
’How could they not worry about the money? They were very worried! Why would they spend their entire 3 months’ worth of salary on a hairpin? This hairpin should cost at most 10 silver coins. 30 silver coins made up of 1 gold coin; wasn’t this the king of rip-offs?
"My lady, the truth is the hairpin I’m currently using cost me eight silver coins, and these pins are made from the same material and have the same quality," Dora said, and Esther frantically nodded her head, an action that showed she agreed with Dora’s words.
The stall owner felt scared after hearing Dora’s words but tried to mask his fear by acting tough.
"Who said these hairpins are made with cheap porcelain like the ones in your hair? This is specially made with high-quality jade, and it is very popular among aristocratic families and even the royal family. Don’t act cocky when you have no idea what you are talking about," the stall owner said.
Luciana saw the hint of panic flash beneath the seller’s eyes and took one of the hairpins to test if it was truly made of high-quality jade, only for Lord Algrith to shift in her arms, trying to find a comfortable position to lay in.
His abrupt movement caused the hairpin to slip from Luciana’s hand and fall onto the ground, immediately breaking into several pieces. Seeing the broken hairpin, the stall owner began to cause a commotion, yelling at the top of his voice.
"You damned woman, if you’re not going to buy the hairpin, why break it? You must pay me for my losses this instant. Pay up; it’s five gold coins," he demanded.
Luciana looked at the broken pieces and could tell at a glance this was no high-quality jade.
"I will do no such thing. I will only pay the price it’s worth, take it or leave it," Luciana said and brought out 10 silver coins, stretching out her hand to give them to the stall owner, only for him to slap her outstretched hand, causing the coins to scatter all over the ground.
Luciana’s gaze hardened at the man’s rough behavior, and she said in a stern voice full of warning,
"Don’t bite off more than you can chew."
The man saw her sharp, razor-like gaze and stiffened; how could such a little girl exude such an overbearing aura? But seeing how the crowd began to gather around them, his courage shot up, ignoring all the warning signs even after seeing her dressed so wealthily.
"Do you think you can do what you want because you are rich? Are you bullying me because I’m poor? I’m honestly trying to make a living here, but you are not even allowing me to and are trying to cheat me. Is it a sin to be born poor?" The man continued to yell, trying to incite the crowd and causing them to think that Luciana was looking down on poor people.
The crowd was about 80 percent poor people, so when they heard the seller’s words, they began to look at Luciana with judgment in their eyes. Who knew such a beautiful girl could have such a wicked and cunning heart?
