Rebirth: The unfavored Princess is the Tyrant King's favorite-Chapter 56: Assassination attempt on princess consort Luciana
"1000 gold coins!"
The air thickened with gasps and whispers as the crowd trained their eyes on the princess consort, their curiosity piqued. Especially those who were sitting at the back stretched their necks, eager to catch a glimpse of the petite figure in red carrying a white cat in her arms and stroking it with a gentle look on her face.
"1000 gold coins!... 1000 gold coins going once, 1000 gold coins going twice... Sold!" The auctioneer’s voice rang with finality.
"Let’s give a round of applause to our generous bidder for acquiring this unique artifact," the auctioneer announced, a note of excitement in his voice.
The crowd erupted into applause, their clapping filling the air with vibrant energy. Lucucia instructed Dora to go with Dominic and retrieve the lamp. She left together with James and Esther to wait for Dora and Dominic.

Upstairs, Lady Evelyn’s body was trembling in anger; she toppled the table in front of her, and all the tea sets fell onto the floor, breaking into pieces.
"Princess Consort Luciana, you wouldn’t be so lucky every time. One day, I’ll be the one on top and looking down at you as you suffer your worst nightmare!" Evelyn promised. It was an oath she was making to herself.

Luciana walked out and was about to reach the carriage when Eric, David’s right-hand man, came to stand before her and bowed.
"Greetings, princess consort; the second prince would like to have a word with you," he said and gestured to the side with his head.
Luciana turned in the direction he was gesturing to and saw David, who was sporting a black eye.
David was worried about what Nicholas would do to Luciana and had still not left. But after he saw all the marks on Luciana’s neck, he felt as if a bucket of cold water had been poured on him. But he couldn’t help but want to believe it was Nicholas who forcefully did those shameful things to Luciana. He knew how dominating his brother was.
Luciana thought it would be best to tell David to forget about everything that happened in their childhood. She is married now, and he should keep his distance from her. She didn’t want to upset Nicholas and cause more misunderstandings between them.
She had just taken two steps in the direction of where David had been standing when James’s voice rang out from behind her.
"My lady, please rethink what you’re about to do; the eldest prince wouldn’t be happy if he found out."
Luciana froze in her steps. ’It seems it would be best to avoid David together; if he saw it was impossible to talk to her, he would give up himself,’ she thought and told Eric, who had been walking together with her and was now frozen in place after seeing her stop.
"Tell the 2nd Prince I’m fine and that he shouldn’t worry about me; I’m grateful for his concern," Luciana said and turned to stand by the carriage and wait for Dora.
"Thank you," Luciana said to James, causing him to look at her in surprise.
"What for, my lady?" He asked.
"Nothing... Actually, it’s for reminding me about choosing what was the most important in my life," she said.
James stared at her in deep thought. ’It seemed the princess consort wasn’t as bad as they thought. Could it be that ’the most important thing in her life’ is Nicholas?’
"No need to thank me, my lady; I was just doing my job. And don’t worry, I won’t tell the king 2nd Prince David tried to approach you," James said, and Luciana looked at him with gratitude and appreciation in her eyes.
"I’d appreciate that," she said. Even though she didn’t speak with David, who knew what Nicholas would do to him just for approaching her?
"I’m doing it for the prince. Because I can tell he treats you differently. You are important to him," James curtly said and bowed.
Luciana nodded to show her understanding; he owed his loyalty to Nicholas. That was clear.
Dora and Dominic arrived a few seconds later with the lamp, and Luciana happily received it.
"My lady, did a mosquito bite you? Or was it a bee?" Dora innocently asked, and Luciana’s features became etched with confusion. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
"Mosquito bites?" She repeated, and Dora hurriedly nodded and pulled out the little mirror she always carried along for the princess in case she needed to touch up her looks.
Luciana took the mirror and blushed in anger. How embarrassing! To think she had been walking around with all these hickeys on her neck with no idea. No wonder everyone was looking at her with a weird look in their eyes.
"Nick, you bastard!" She cursed, and both James and Dominic stared at her in shock. Maybe the prince was indeed a bastard, James thought, deciding to keep what the princess consort just said from the prince as well.
In the palace, Nicholas, who was speaking with the emperor, suddenly sneezed loudly, and his eyes flashed. "Could someone be cursing him?" he mumbled under his breath.
"Let’s return to the manor," Luciana said, and Dora placed the stairs in front of the carriage for her to climb on. Luciana was about to climb the stairs when David appeared beside her out of nowhere and held her wrist.
"Luciana, listen to me, we need to talk," he said. Luciana was about to pull away from his grasp when a loud swoosh sound pierced the air.
Everything happened so fast that David, James, and Dominic were caught off guard as the arrow heading for the princess consort pierced a strange man dressed in all black who came to block the attack with his body. The arrow pierced the area between his shoulder and right breast, and his black robes instantly became wet as blood slipped out and began to spread all over his chest.
The people in the streets started to run and scatter about in all directions, seeing what had just happened. It was an assassination attempt on the princess consort.
Luciana stared wide-eyed in horror at the man who appeared out of nowhere and saved her life. He was currently falling onto his knees.
"My name is Cedric Amirion, a skilled swordsman; please save me; I’ll be your loyal guard," Amirion said weakly.
"What are you standing there for? Save him, do something," Luciana yelled, and it was as if they were all broken from a trance.
Amirion saw how they all rushed towards him to help him and inwardly smiled. He had cast a spell and caused everything to move in slow motion so that he could be the only one who could save the princess consort’s life.
Mission accomplished, Queen Darana; now he was going to use this opportunity to get close to the princess consort of Gloryland and find out the whereabouts of Princess Alina.
