Love PrettyDarlie...

Nick found himself in a strange place. It was a strange place because he felt as if he was dreaming, only that everything felt real.

It seemed as if the dreamlike state he had experienced a few days ago when Luciana became unconscious was happening to him again.

Except that this time, he couldn’t hear anyone’s thoughts. This place also seemed to be a different timeline altogether, and the strange thing was that there was another him in this timeline.

He tried to make contact with this other man he had heard was called Nicholas Ashter, but he couldn’t hear him.

He had tried to talk, touch, and scream in front of the man who looked like him, but it was futile.

He could only resign himself to the idea that he was stuck here and that he could only be a spectator, so without a choice, he began to follow this man who looked like him in this strange dream.

The place looked like a large palace, and after eavesdropping on the whispers of the maids and servants, he learned that one of the princes was about to get married and the princess was currently on her way to the palace, and the wedding ceremony would take place soon afterward.

The current emperor’s name was Emperor Ethan Ashter, and he had 3 sons. The firstborn was Nicholas Ashter, an army commander known by the people as the god of war.

The second born was David Ashter, and he was currently the crown prince. Nicholas could hear how the maids swooned at the mere sight of Nicholas.

"Oh, isn’t he just so handsome?" a maid coed.

"He looks like a deity who was descended on earth to bless us mere mortals with his presence."

"Just look at that strong and powerful physique of his."

"Did you know he was promoted to become the general commander when he was just 19?"

"Of course, he had led an army of only 100,000 men and won a battle against 500,000 men at age 17; since then, he had never lost any battle."

"He had willingly allowed his younger brother to become the crown prince because he didn’t like politics; his only passion was wielding the sword and bringing his enemies down on their knees."

"Did you know? There are rumors that he’s the son of a god and not the son of our emperor."

"Shush... Aren’t you afraid you’ll be killed for saying that out loud?"

"The truth is that even though the emperor dotes on him, rumor says the emperor’s favorite is the crown prince."

"Quiet, he’s heading this way; he might hear you."

Nick had a general idea of what Nicholas Ashter’s life was like. It seemed he was just like him; their situations seemed quite similar.

"Brother, here you are; come, let’s go and meet my new bride; I would like to introduce her to the most important person in my life," a voice said, and Nick saw the said crown prince.

He could tell he was the crown prince because of his robes, and then his gaze moved from the robes up to his face and stopped—it was David. The crown prince was no other than his second brother.

"Don’t tell me there’s someone who looks like Luciana in this dream?" Nick asked himself since no one could hear him.

As soon as the words left his mouth, Nick’s heart trembled.

’Could it be that the bride of his brother is Luciana?’

Sadly or expectedly, he was right; the woman who alighted from the carriage and was later introduced as David’s new bride was none other than Luciana.

"Princess Luciana, you don’t know how happy I am that you are finally my wife. I promise you, I’ll treat you well. Meet Nicholas, my closest brother and trusted friend," David said.

"Welcome, Princess Luciana; I’m Prince Nicholas Ashter, the commander of the army and the brother of your husband, Crown Prince David Ashter," Nicholas said respectfully.

Nick realized something was amiss with the way both this other Nicholas and Luciana stared at each other. Sparks were flying in the air, and there was an unmistakable electrically charged atmosphere between them from the first moment they met.

After the introductions, the head maid came for Luciana to take her to her assigned quarters since the princess could only stay in the crown prince’s mansion after the wedding ceremony.

David’s gaze was fixed on the disappearing silhouette of Princess Luciana until she was no longer in sight; he was so focused on her that he didn’t notice his brother; Nicholas was also staring at the girl. David then turned to his brother and said,.

"Brother, I need your help. All the imperial guards in the palace are under your command. Tell them to look the other way so that I can sneak into the crown princess consort’s chambers tonight and have a chat with her."

David had an expectant expression on his face as he spoke to his brother; one could imagine the disappointment he felt when he heard a blatant refusal from Nicholas.

"No, I can’t do that," Nicholas said.

"Why? Even when I sneak out of the palace to go out to explore the capital, you are not so strict with me; you always help me escape from the palace without anyone finding out. Why are you not helping me this time around?" David whined, acting like a spoiled brat; he had thought, like other times, that his brother was going to do the same today.

"This is something different; you should think about the reputation of the crown princess. You know how our customs are; if you lose control and have your way with her now, what blood would be on the sheets on the day you marry?" Nicholas asked back, causing David to blush at his straightforward words.

"First Brother, I think you are misunderstanding me; I have pure intentions with the princess. I just want to have a chat with her for a while tonight. We are going to be married soon, and we could have a little conversation to learn about each other.

Maybe she might even be sad and lonely after coming a long distance from her home. I just want to keep her company," David said and looked up at Nicholas with a hopeful gaze.

"I have power over the guards, but ultimately, I don’t know who they talk to in their free time, so please listen to me and try not to sneak in to go and see the princess for now; soon the both of you will be married, and you can do whatever you want with her," Nicholas had advised.

From the expression on David’s face, it seemed he was still not convinced, but after seeing his brother being so adamant, he decided to wait until they got married.

After the brothers parted, each went to their respective residences. Nicholas did some tasks, and soon it was nightfall. Nick saw Nicholas walking out in the dead of the night and followed after him.

’Where was he going by this time of the night?’ Nick wondered if there was only one way to find out.

Nick kept following him until he saw Nicholas approaching a residence that had guards at the entrance.

"I was never here tonight," he told the guards, and they nodded silently to the order of their commander.

Nicholas made his way into the building as if he owned the place.

Nick’s eyes widened in surprise when he saw the person Nicholas had come to meet.

"P...Prince Nicholas, wh...what are you doing here?" Luciana said with a look of shock on her face.

"You remember my name," Nicholas said, and an evil grin broke on his face.
