Rebirth: The unfavored Princess is the Tyrant King's favorite-Chapter 93: Flashback : Pregnant
"No one hurt me; I wasn’t watching where I was going and mistakenly hit my knee against the bed," she explained, looking down at him.
"Stop covering up for him. I can already tell from the degree of the bruise," Nicholas said, his gaze full of heartache.
"Are you scared I’ll go and settle scores with him for hurting you?" He asked, and then he chuckled. It was humorless and full of bitterness.
"I wish I was switched at birth so that I’d be born as him and have you with me always," he added, and Luciana’s eyes snapped to look at him.
"Don’t say that; you can’t be so sure things would turn out like you think," Luciana softly scolded.
She wanted to tell him maybe if he was born in David’s place, she might not love him like she does and that everything happened for a reason, but she decided not to say it out loud. Nicholas might become too cheeky if she told him such words.
"Why didn’t you try to heal it with your magic? Why do you allow yourself to be in pain?" Nicholas asked, and Luciana shook her head.
"I forgot," she said.
The truth wasn’t that she forgot; it was that after that incident with David, she had a vision again, the same vision of Nicholas and David fighting fiercely. Her thoughts had begun to spiral out of control, and her emotions had been all over the place; at that time, she didn’t want to use magic when her brain was in chaos.
Luciana saw how he stared at her and could see just how he adored her. His gaze looked like he worshiped the ground she walked on.
"I can’t watch you do everything on your own. I will help convince the ministers behind the scenes. I knew my brother wouldn’t let go of you without a fight, and I understand him. I’d do the same thing if I were him," Nicholas said and got on his feet.
He made her sit on a chair and walked to the side to pull out a little porcelain bowl. He opened it, and a whiff of medicinal scent filled the room.
He lifted her leg and placed it on his lap and had begun to rub the ointment on her knee, causing Luciana to blush in embarrassment. He acted as if he had been doing this forever. His cold fingertips now felt warm against her skin as he continued to massage the medicine on her knee.
"Aahhhh...wait...be gentle..." Luciana nagged when he increased the strength in his fingertips.
"How is it now? Is it okay?" Nicholas asked, seeing the frown on her face.
"Ye...yes...hmmm...It’s fine now... Ouch... be gentle..."
"Shhh... I know, I’m sorry," Nicholas said, chuckling at her antics.

Evelyn’s eyes widened in horror when she heard the sounds coming out of the prince’s manor. ’The prince and that woman were having sex?’ She thought and slowly retreated from there and went to hide behind the main entrance gates.
Today, she was going to wait and make sure to follow the woman and know where she came from.
She couldn’t wait to receive some special rewards from the crown prince after telling him about her discovery.
~~~
"I wish you were making such sounds and saying such words under different circumstances."
Luciana looked up at him in confusion, and then realization dawned upon her, causing her eyes to widen. She placed a finger on his lips,
"Walls have ears; you shouldn’t say things like that," she scolded.
"I mean it," he deadpanned.
Luciana clamped her mouth shut after hearing his response. She was sure he would become more unruly if she said something again.
After a little chat about everything and nothing, Luciana returned to her estate alone, refusing Nicholas’ offer to accompany her back. She began to feel someone was following her after a while and became nervous.
’Was it David? Did someone see her?’ Her steps quickened, feeling afraid since it was already midnight.
If someone were to harm her around this side of the palace, everyone would guess where she was coming from—Nicholas’ estate.
When Luciana’s steps quickened, she sensed the footsteps approaching her also quickened their pace. She turned to face the person head-on and raised her hands to attack without checking who it was due to her panic.
Evelyn was caught off guard when the woman turned to face her; before she could even dodge, the woman stretched her hands toward her, and a powerful force threw her backward, causing her to hit the wall and fall.
"Aaahh!!" Evelyn screamed in agony from the impact.
When Luciana heard a woman’s sharp cry, her heart skipped a beat. ’Did she just hurt an innocent person?’ She thought and ran towards the figure sprawled on the ground feeling guilty.
"Sorry, I thought it was someone with bad intentions. Are you hurt?" She asked Evelyn worriedly.
Even though the woman looked worried, Evelyn, who was feeling angry because she had been thrown against the wall, ignored her.
"Sorry, are you hurt? Can you speak?" Luciana asked again, and Evelyn weakly nodded.
"I think I’ve broken a couple of bones; it hurts all over," Evelyn cried out, faking her pain and making it sound worse than it was.
Luciana had wanted to send Evelyn back to her estate and make the royal physician attend to her, but she realized she was supposed to be under house arrest and not out there, so she pulled out a hairpin from her hair and gave it to Evelyn.
"Take this as compensation for mistakenly hurting you. I would have taken you to the infirmary myself, but I’m in a hurry, sorry," Luciana said and left the "poor-looking" girl behind, still feeling guilty about her actions.
Unknown to Luciana, due to their proximity, Evelyn had finally seen her face up close and had imprinted her image in her mind. Plus her hairpin in her possession, she couldn’t wait to tell David what she found out.
For now, she needed to go to the infirmary for some medication. The woman didn’t go easy on her at all.
A month later,
"You disappoint me, Luciana; you should be grateful everything was solved, and the peace treaty wasn’t affected, but don’t ever think I’d treat you as my little sister anymore," Luciana’s brother, Lancelot, said coldly, his jaw clenched.
"Your actions have proven them right. They would believe the people of Zubrekacadesh don’t keep our word, and it’s all thanks to you," he added.
Tears welled up in Luciana’s eyes at his words. She was supposed to be happy that she was finally going to be free of the guilt and burden of being married to someone else when she loved another, but her brother’s words were making her feel more guilty.
Even though Nicholas helping behind the scenes had sped up her divorce procedure, there was still a need for a representative of the kingdom of Zubrekacadesh to be present aside from her. So she had reluctantly sent a pigeon to deliver the message of her divorce to her parents.
Her brother had arrived about two weeks ago, but he had never stopped commanding her to stop the divorce. He didn’t understand why she wanted a divorce in the first place.
She felt tired and exhausted all of a sudden. Everything had taken a toll on her. Her condition had worsened; she felt dizzy, nauseous, and and cold one minute, hot the next moment, and frequent headaches tortured her.
Even as she stood at the entrance of the throne room where her divorce had been declared a moment ago, she felt like she was about to faint.
She swayed on her feet and reached out her hands to grab the person next to her.
"Help me," she mouthed those words, and everything became black. She had lost consciousness. The faint voice of someone calling her was the last thing she heard.
David, who was fuming as he approached Luciana and was about to confront her after everything Evelyn just told him. But he didn’t expect Luciana to hold onto him and ask him to help her before she collapsed into his arms.
Nicholas had also been standing nearby and had seen how Luciana’s complexion looked pale. She had an uncomfortable expression on her face, and he wanted to take her away from there, but he couldn’t since there were too many prying eyes.
His heart skipped a beat when she fainted into David’s arms. He had just taken a step in their direction when Luciana’s brother came to stand in between him and David, blocking her from his view.
"Crown Prince David, please give her to me; I think she’s just tired. I will take care of her; she’s no longer your responsibility," Lancelot said, but David ignored him and carried Luciana away.
"She reached out to me on her own," David shamelessly said.
Lancelot could only follow David as he carried Luciana away to her estate.
"Congratu...erm...Sorry, Your Highness, I don’t know if I should congratulate you due to your delicate situation with the crown princess right now," the imperial physician who had been summoned to check on Luciana said.
David angrily stared at the man as if he were speaking a foreign language.
"Would you speak in a way I can understand?" He snapped.
"Your Highness, the crown princess is with child; she fainted due to exhaustion," the imperial said.
