Chapter 79: Battling With Insectoids (1)

In fact, as soon as the parasite insectois appeared, Donny had immediately contacted the Alliance Army.

The parasites was much more than she could imagine.

After Donny made the call, the operator quickly connected her to a higher-up. General Fleet Admiral immediately dispatched Kenji to handle the situation.

After understanding the situation, Kenji, along with a team of ten, headed to the Horn family’s ancient castle for a rescue operation but was blocked by the parasites outside the building.

These parasites, unable to cross over the bodies of their companions, circled around the castle, searching for food.

Kenji shot one of the parasites and pulled up a man whose leg had been half-eaten. Recognizing the man’s face twisted in pain, Kenji’s exceptional memory told him that this man was a wanted criminal by the Alliance and a space pirate.

He grabbed the man’s throat and asked coldly, "How many parasites are there?"

The space pirate, enduring the pain, replied, "I won’t... tell you!"

"You don’t have to say now," Kenji said, handing the man over to his subordinate. "Wait until we get to the interrogation room. It won’t be as easy as now."

The space pirate widened his eyes, saying, "What? Why an interrogation? I’m a death row inmate, you should execute me right here, right now!"

He came to carry out the leader’s mission and never intended to return alive.

The Alliance Army’s interrogation room was a place all criminals feared, like a torture hell. There had never been a single one who could get out of there without a mental breakdown.

"I," the space pirate’s forehead sweated as he muttered, "I don’t know... maybe thousands?"

The guy holding the space pirate was shocked.

Nearby, the parasites excitedly arched their bodies and rapidly crawled towards Kenji and the others.

Kenji glanced at the castle almost crawling with parasites, redialed for more support, and told his subordinate, "Lock him in the car, we’ll interrogate him later."

Now was not the time for questioning. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Kenji took out his mecha from the space button, ready to rush in and rescue at the fastest speed.

The space pirate being dragged to the car urgently said, "I’ll talk, I’ll tell everything! I was sent by Deadman! I knew the Horn family was holding a prom here tonight, so I pretended to be a temp worker and mixed in, sprinkling worm eggs into these people’s breakfast. Then wait, wait for the evening, the parasites will come out of their body!"

Kenji didn’t turn back and continued to clear the parasites in front of him.

Meanwhile, inside the castle, the situation was grim.

Yuka deftly flicked a parasite away from her ankle with the tip of her knife, and then she heard a muffled groan from a man beside her.

A large parasite had wrapped itself around the man’s calf, its abdominal spikes piercing into his flesh, greedily consuming his blood and flesh.

Yuka swiftly swung her blade, cut the head of the parasite without harming the man.

As more parasites swarmed in, people’s strength visibly waned, with more of them being ensnared by the creatures.

Alex, gritting his teeth, tore off his space button necklace and threw it to Yuka, shouting, "Number One, have this!"

The nail-sized space button flipped through the air. Yuka spun around and hooked the chain with the tip of her knife, sliding it down the blade and catching it neatly in her hand.

Yuka knew what Alex had given her. In the blink of an eye, she established a mental connection with the mecha inside the space button.

The next second, an old-model combat mecha appeared in the hall.

Despite its worn appearance, it was fully functional. The sudden appearance of the mecha caused a stir, but the people were too desperate to wonder where it came from; they only knew they were saved.

People knew the lady who had single-handedly slain hundreds of parasites with just a long sword would undoubtedly be stronger piloting a mecha.

Now with the mecha, Yuka felt significantly relieved. The people around her stepped back, giving her space to maneuver. She stashed the space button in her pocket and, piloting the mecha with a long sword in hand, began slicing through the attacking parasites.

After cutting down a few, Yuka found she was being too slow. She transformed the long sword into a spiked flail and converted one of the mecha’s mechanical arms into a long sword, continuing her assault.

Donny fetched several spare guns from an upstairs room and tossed them down to the people below. Ayoi and Alex, catching the guns, immediately followed Yuka, finding strategic positions to shoot from, clearing a path for her.

Amidst the battle, an invisible parasite evaded everyone’s notice, stealthily moving to the wall, climbing up, and preparing to extend its limbs towards the people on the second floor.

The first woman who felt her clothing brushed turned around and screamed, causing panic and chaos among the crowd.

In the commotion, Vivian was pushed to the edge of the railing. Her high heel broke, and she nearly fell over the edge.

Hearing the scream, Yuka, piloting the mecha, kicked a nearby parasite away, and Ayoi immediately shot it dead.

Yuka dashed to the bottom of the stairs and extended a mechanical arm to catch the falling Vivian. She gently gripped Vivian’s waist with the mechanical hand and safely placed her next to Donny.

Seeing that Vivian was unharmed, Yuka quickly turned to continue dealing with the parasites.

Donny hurriedly helped the shaken Vivian to her feet, and the latter leaned on Donny’s shoulder and gratefully shouted to Yuka, "Thank you!"

Outside the castle, Kenji had already dealt with all the parasites. He retracted his mecha and gestured to his exhausted subordinates to follow him, preparing to rush in to rescue those inside.

Before entering, Kenji braced for another onslaught of parasites, expecting the ambushed nobles to be in disarray, possibly facing a situation with no survivors.

However, to his surprise, the castle’s survivors were crowded on the second floor, and a mecha in the hall had just slain the last parasite.

The people around put away their empty guns.

Except for a few injured, no one had been devoured by the parasites.

Kenji had a feeling that the mecha froze for a moment when it saw him enter.

Inside the mecha, Yuka was shocked to see Kenji was the one sent to handling the situation.

Thinking quickly, she raised her hand and smashed the only remaining lighting bulb with her hammer.

The hall plunged into darkness amid a blast, causing a low murmur of surprise.

Yuka swiftly retracted the mecha and ran upstairs. While running, she asked the butler, "Did you bring a spare dress?"

The butler replied, "Yes, similar to the one you’re wearing!"

Yuka quickly took out a dress from her space button that matched the color of her current one. She quickly changed into the new, blood-free dress.

The moment she blended into the crowd at the back, Donny found the switch for the backup illumination, and the hall lit up again.

People looked around, searching for the missing mecha. Yuka took this opportunity to hide among the crowd, pretending to search, and thus she didn’t attract any attention.

The second group of the Alliance Army soldiers soon arrived at the scene. Kenji directed his subordinates to calm the startled crowd and gather information. He then went upstairs to speak with the Horn family, who had organized the prom.

The elite society members, embarrassed by the recent events and unwilling to remove their masks, clamored to leave immediately.

Yuka seized this opportunity to slip away unnoticed, blending in with the departing crowd.

As she saw Kenji approaching the middle of the staircase, Yuka quickly dodged to the side, shrinking into the crowd to hide.

"Taira Yuka."

Her step faltered at the sound of her name, but she planned to pretend she hadn’t heard and continue walking.

Kenji, however, grabbed her shoulder, forcing her to stop. "Don’t be afraid, I won’t bite," he even joked.

"I know it’s you," Kenji said, referencing her bold actions with the mecha earlier.

Yuka, feigning innocence, replied in a disguised voice, "Sorry, sir, you’ve mistaken me for someone else."

Before Kenji could respond, Morris, wearing a beak-like mask, approached them after removing his mask.

"Admiral Kuba, weren’t you here to figure out the situation? Please come with me, and let’s not trouble this lady further," Morris said with a smile.

Kenji released Yuka, who, feeling relieved, quickly ran off.
